Looks better than a Masterpiece Optimus Prime
I'm right there with ya- this Optimus Prime is THE COOLEST! Like you, I got him because he's 1:18 scale- though I display him with mostly Marvel Universe figures! I have Captain America on his shoulder. He's on top of my display cabinet since I don't have a USS Flag...
Picked up the Nemesis version not too long ago. Freaking love that thing.
Finally a scale review with G.I. Joes!! That was the deciding factor of me wanting to buy it. I always wanted at least one in scale Transformer for my Joes also. The cross over vehicles were cool but they didn't transform. Just retooled G.I. Joe vehicles. This displays better.
Ok now I desperately want more TFs in this scale to go with ALL OF THE 3.75 inch figures to ever exist
I agree with Bob, you just won me over as a subscriber. I love your voice. Some reviewers put on a sort of DJ voice and try too hard. Listening to your reviews it sounds like chatting with a friend. And I totally loved the comparison with the GI Joe figures, and the USS Flagg. Keep up the great videos. Oh, and I think Mega Optimus could beat both G1 Maximus and Titans Returns Maximus in a fight. There, I said it.

I completely agree with your opinions of this figure, and transformers figures in general. The robot mode is definitely the form that matters most to me and this one looks absolutely incredible.

Hi Mike. Its been awhile. The last time I wrote you I gushed over MAS-01. That is until I went out and got Lewin Prime. Lewin Atlas Prime is everything they said he was and is. He is big and glorious. Robot mode and truck mode is unreal. He has alot of diecast and light up features. I know you said you weren't interested but Mike you need to see him in person. You would love him. Now I aint sayin MAS-01 isnt still glorious because he is but Lewin Atlas Prime is just way way beyond glorious. He is a must have buddy.
I had no interest in any of these big figures until i saw this in person at Ages 3 & Up, and WOW. I thought it was going to be $300-500. I think i might need one, if i can find room.

Great review - went out and bought one soon after I saw this. I also have the MAS-02 Megatron and they look awesome together. Question for anyone that has these - do the eyes on yours get a little dimmer after a few minutes of being lit? Both my MAS-01 and MAS-02 do this. I'm assuming it's a battery-saving feature, but just curious....

Great vid as usual..clean smooth camera work and calm, crisp, clear audio.
I am 100% FOR SHOOOR getting this Prime..I happen to agree with you across all points in regards to keeping my Transformers in one mode so the fact that he doesn't transform doesn't bother me since the trade-off is stupendous articulation, fantastic paint apps and an overall aesthetic that would be impossible to achieve with a mold that is broken up in a million different places. I'm not exactly sure why they decided to go with black fingers but I am glad they left the back of his hands blue. He just looks damn impressive and when you displayed him with the Joe's that was it - slam dunk. I'm actually more of a Joe collector than a Transformers collector but I'm more of a Transformers fan if that makes any sense so to see the two come together in toy form so seamlessly make the nine year old me fist pump while I reach for my allowance. Great job!!!! ENJOY PRIME!
One more thing...the high gloss cardboard box insert that has the orange Ark graphics on it will be another great display piece for other MP figures...Bonus!

Damn...if I only had the money....this looks so realistic, it feels like *the* Optimus Prime was shrunken down and has just come to visit us for the time being...must be a mass-displacement sequence, still, this is definitely something I'd display

I plan on doing so once my garage is set up. I just checked out your 360 review of the FLAGG and you gave me some wonderful ideas. I also love how you have the Mobile Command Center and Cobra Terrordrome. I own both myself and when I get the garage completed those will be on display there. Again, I love the reviews. Very cool Optimus Prime very scaled articulation helps it it does not have to transform and being associated with the GI Joes and always on your u.s. flag I enjoyed that is very cool man I'm a big fan of Transformers and GI Joe I wish they had a cartoon back in the day together I mean
Yeah too bad Sunbow never had a crossover, other than Hector Ramirez appearing on multiple shows. There's always the Marvel comic crossover though.

I have a very small Takara Tomy "Convoy" (Optimus, of course) figure that's just like the cartoon and at least allows me to get my G1 fix--Megatron and "Bumble" (I think they meant Bumblebee) are featured on the same tiny display. Lacking either space or funds here in Japan, that'll just have to do for now. Love your videos. Your passion not just for toys, but how they make you feel and what they mean to you as a person, genuinely comes through. You're excited about what you like, and nice about what you don't. Finally, the lack of cynicism and true empathy for others is a comfort. Keep it up!

Just received this item today in the mail unfortunately the head is not attached to prime. Do you know if the head is detachable and fell off in shipping possibly or is it broken

Yeah you sold this guy to me. I was using masterpiece to go with the original joes, but seeing this figure with the modern figures, that hits the sweet spot.

Great video, and I agree with the other comment about doing a room tour, I'd love to see your collection. I would like to add that the hip joints on this guy are TIGHT, and feel like they're going to snap while rotating the legs front and back. I've seen one picture on their Facebook page of a customer with a broken hip joint already, so be careful posing him.

I preorderd one of these for my friend for chistmas..still waiting! I went with the other one that's 800 dollar one. It's heavier because of all the diecast, about 15 or so pounds. But this is massive!!
That's usually my story, but I ordered from Robot Kingdom and shipping was super fast and beautifully packed. Give them a try next time. :D

I was going to pass on this initially but you won me over too. I hope they don't go crazy with this line though and dilute the awe factor. Megatron will be nice and maybe a few more. But I don't need the entire line resized like with Masterpiece (nor do I have the room). There's something special about having one larger than life hero (or villain) standing tall over your collection.
Agreed, less is more with this big boys. Prime looks awesome with the Joes, so a Mega Megatron should look just as good standing next to the Terror Drome. :D
What did this sucker cost when it came out? Also, if this is licensed, I wonder if any of the ones available on eBay are knock offs.
Great video! I'm torn on this guy vs. the new one from ThreeA Toys. It's a bit of a different take on classic Prime, but the paint job on it is impossibly cool. Anyway, nice job. Subscribing!

I don't remember seeing any energon cubes made by Hasbro in the 80s.
Mike. I gotta say I have watched this video ton's of time's. And even though I own MAS-01 I still love your vid no matter how many times I watch it. Everyone is gushing over the new big Lewin Prime but not me. To me its a waste of money on a KO of MPP10 Optimus from Wei Jiang and way to big for my taste. Anyway. MAS-01 is perfect for me and a perfect representation of Optimus Prime. Now I must get Megatron to do battle with him!

Thanks Robin! It's great that they've finally been able to capture the powerful aura of Optimus Prime again. There's been a lot of G1 Optimus toys since 1984, but this one of the few that feels very special.

This figure is...AWSOME!!, But I am still disturbed by having it not transform. The people who made this could have added a Truck mode for Optimus to compensate for a lack of a transformation.
I pretty much had my finger on the button to buy one of these when I heard someone liken the plastic to that of metroplex which gave me serious second thoughts. Do you find that it feels hollow? Fantastic video!
It's not as heavy as I expected but he certainly doesn't feel hollow. Did you see the part of the video where he's doing the split-legged kick? He's one of the sturdiest figures ever made. I can barely get my Metroplex to stand straight up with two legs.

I can't deny. I'd love if it would transform. I'd pay some 50-70 bucks extra for it too.
If it transformed, it would probably be twice the price since it would need to be made of sturdier material.
Michael Mercy maybe, but only certain parts. I ordered my, it's on the way, but as I see from reviews it seems to be quite sturdy already. Still, at this size, I'd happily pay even 300 USD if it would transform.
But I saw an interview with one of the heads of Threea (I can't remember where I saw it), he says that they can't make one that transforms because of licensing. Basically only Hasbro/Takara can make licensed transformers that transform. Too bad. Still, if someday someone makes a ko version this size that transforms, I'd probably buy it.
