after the absolutely primitive early game and the struggle to get through it, I didn't expect to be seeing mechanical tech in this mod

@@SkeleFire001 I would be surprised if it was one of the main inspirations for create.
The technical aspects of the mod are actually how it got started. At first, the mod simply added new blocks with interesting functionallity, like the block dispenser, the hibachis or powered rails (this was even before the vanilla powered rails were added). Then the creator started working on fleshing out the tech progression, gating those blocks behind more interesting processes.
Flowerchild kept developing the mod to syuit his own tastes, and once he was happy with the tech aspect, and inspired by other survival games he played, he started overhauling the survival aspects of the game. And that was the last thing he did before retiring and dissaperaing from the internet a few years ago.

@@GamerKiwi i think it's the first one to have hoppers, yes. But vanilla hoppers take more after the buildcraft ones, i think.
yeah and it really doesn't fit the feel of the entire rest of the mod, or minecraft itself, sticks out like a sore thumb

Don't feed them rotten flesh either. You also can't feed them fish unfortunately (that would be too easy). You can however use a cauldron over a stoked hibachi to create kibble using rotten flesh, bone meal, and sugar so once you have those things getting dung is super easy.

@@GamerKiwi And whatever you do, NEVER put food and dung in the same cauldron. The game remembers, even if you put the food in there after the dung has been removed.
I learned this by reading the wiki.

Do not do the hopper filtering or the have a nether portal within 16 blocks of animals including wolves, villagers, and squids. They can act very weird from nether exposure (or soul sand hopper filtering)
Squids can turn into ghasts
Villagers can turn into witches
Pigs can turn into zombie pigmen
Sheep become anti-gravity when they have wool
Cows can give birth to some hostile mobs
Chickens explode and drop a ton of feathers
And all of these mobs spread the infection further when they die. Wolves spread the infection even further even while alive.
Better Than Wolves was the original SRP mod lol

@@VeryRGOTI Interesting how the nausea is NOT the indication to disaster. It's just the souls screaming within netherrack, no harm here. But hopper filtering the netherrack into hellfire dust releases them... which is the real scary thing despite you not getting nausea

IDK about using sh*t but tanned leather was originally made with boiled acorn water, so they coulda used that instead
For taning leather you basically have to put tannings into hides, that is what the bark in the recipe is supposed to represent. The dog shit that's also something that was done during the victorian era. Enzimes in dog poop breaks down collagen in the hide in a previous step to the adding of the tanins.
The whole process is simplified into a single step in the mod. But dog poop has been used historically.

Honestly I am down to agree this is the proper hardest mod in MC. RLcraft needs to throw several mythical monsters at you. BTW makes you deliberate with your actions (and crippling early-game in a simmilar but different way.)
