Today your films, together with those of other luminaries who record our railways in such detail, might be seen as being of niche interest to some, however they are of tremendous historical importance and I do hope that they are being properly archived.
Thank you for all your hard work in filming, researching and producing these excellent documentaries.

Thanks for a good presentation. I used to live at High Wycombe pre-privatisation when this was the Cinderella line of British Rail. Ancient DMUs and Marylebone was always under threat of closure but a magnificent pint of Ruddles County in the pub on the station. What a difference under Chiltern Railways.
There is also a plan, I don't know how 'firm' it is, to reinstate the fast through lines at Beaconsfield

Lovely video. And a piece of history. With the Chiltern service from Kidderminster to London withdrawn, Hagley's one direct service to London a day (with no direct return) is now history. I'm glad there is this record, not least so that it will be possible to show people in the future that a Hagley-London direct service did actually exist!

Good to see the the double track replacement north of Princes Risborough via Bicester, and the new junction, which is used for services between Marylebone and Oxford. The Chiltern Railways depot at Wembley is relatively new as well.
There was a minor error re the introduction of the first commissioning date of Marylebone IECC. It was actually August bank holiday weekend 1989 (I was there, around 05:00 when it came into service). It was a tiny stage geographically, as it was just between Amersham and just short of Aylesbury. However, it was complex enough for something that was novel, and it did have a boundary with London Underground, at Amersham (the other one being at Neasden). At that time, Marylebone IECC was only the second one ever brought into use, the other one being one of the earlier stages of Liverpool Street, out as far as Bethnal Green.

We were living in Maidenhead and my grandparents came down to look after me when my mum was about to give birth to my sister. I can remember Grandpa taking me on a DMU with a forward view through the cab, and the driver spotted me at the inner window. At the next station he invited me into the cab to "help him drive" to the next station. It made my day. It would have either have been on the main line to Twyford or Slough, or else along the Bourne End / Wycombe branch. Even more exciting than getting home to find I had a baby sister ;-)
