@@C4rrots actually every time cutaway gags are used they transition to a different scene, often in a different location, so it still fits.
It's quite literally formulaic. Step 1, set up random cutaway that has nothing to do with topic. Step 2, cutaway ensues. Step 3, move on from cutaway gag to establishing shot with musical intro.

If it was an actual cutaway, it wouldn’t be a cutaway because the animators would just get tired animating the rings.

Just goes to show how easy it is to write a Family Guy cutaway.
Seth claims it's the hardest part of every Family Guy episode for the writing staff to write. On one hand I don't believe it but seeing how the events of most Family Guy episodes usually play out...maybe I do.

Genuinely the only thing that made me know this wasn’t real was the fact that Peter falling over and the rings coming out was way too smoothly animated. This really feels exactly like Family Guy. Expertly done!

Normal Green Hill (not Cyberspace Green Hill for Frontiers nor buried in the sand for Forces) and Tails being there means that the "new Sonic game" they're talking about is Generations, which makes this cutaway way behind on what the new Sonic game is.
So that makes this an authentic Family Guy cutaway.

Most notably, next to nobody cared that she supposedly died and Chris (her own brother) was perfectly willing to murder her to keep his newfound popularity, her "wedding" which was a fraud to try to keep Bruce's parents from figuring out he was gay, and after nineteen seasons she finally went to college only to get expelled because of an admissions scandal that she had no knowledge or part of (and Peter and Lois got off scot-free). You are mixing Seasons 18+ up with 14 - 17 (where she was temporarily made less of a punching bag).

You get a torus in blender and trace it, then you rotate it and trace it again. It really wouldn't have taken that long to make even for someone who can't animate.
