San Diego: Motorcycle vs Street Light Accident 05112024 (UPDATE)

Witnesses told the Police that the male motorcyclist was speeding at over 80 mph when he passed the witness going eastbound on Sorrento Valley Blvd. The motorcyclist for unknown reasons, left the roadway and crashed into a street light.
The motorcyclist suffered major injuries, possibly life-threatening. He was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. Eastbound Sorrento Vally Blvd is closed at Ocean Heights Way for the investigation.

Synopsis:
A 20-year-old male rode a 2019 Triumph motorcycle eastbound on Sorrento Valley Blvd. The
motorcyclist failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway at 5800 Sorrento Valley Blvd. He drove onto the sidewalk and collided with a city light pole. The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was treated for multiple brain bleeds, collapsed lung, kidney damage, spinal injuries, fractures to his right arm, and pelvis. His injuries were determined to be life threatening. S.D.P.D. Traffic Division responded and is handling the collision investigation.

That road is always filled with people speeding up to 65-70mph going down the hill and there are residential streets that have horrible blind zones when pulling out onto the road. Very bad combo.
