Yeah, it looks like he had a momentary lapse of judgment and went out into the road a bit too early after the white pickup pulled in. But he shouldn't have had to pay with his life for that. The driver of the car was flying way over the speed limit. He'll likely face charges, even though he may not have been fully responsible for the charge.
Driving is the most dangerous thing we do daily. People need to SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.

He was proud of his bike which was giving to him for his 31st birthday. He earned it because we ( his parents) gave him obligations he must fill first. He attained them all. I’ve been motorcycle licensed for 48 years. Here is what I see from this video: rider misjudged that approaching car was driving normal speed vs. the reality that the car was seriously speeding. If you have ever wondered why you sometimes see a motorcycle rider holding back it’s often because we are trying to judge the speed of other drivers. It’s better to wait because motorcycles always lose in a crash with a car.

Agreed! Speed kills. Neither party has time to react if the white car was actually going to speed limit maybe even 5 mph over the bike might’ve had a lot more time to react and he would’ve actually made his turn. There would’ve been a lot more space between the biker and the car if the car wasn’t going 90 mph. Cars can come out of nowhere. I’ve seen it. Also seen motorcycles on the highway going over 100 you don’t see them coming. This is the fault of the car.

I gave up motorcycles when my riding buddies moved far away so the decision was easy. Occasionally I miss riding to/from work, then I think about my family and realize I’m not missing too much. @@upc.barcodes83tbh I think he had a very high chance of being hit by that car regardless of the speed he was going, the timing was just unfortunate with the dumb speeding driver. If he had actually gone a little slower the car could've missed him entirely or took out his front wheel but saved him.
They say in America, look left right left when pulling out. (America drives on the right side of the road)
I think they say look left right before you enter the road because the first part of the road you're crossing has traffic from the left.
And you are double checking the left to make absolutely sure that the coast is clear from that direction.
If you miss traffic coming from the right, you will have maybe second to realize your mistake as you are not crossing their lane(s) yet.
Though this rule won't work well if somebody is driving on the wrong side of the road.

I still ride cause I'm free on my bike every problem goes away. My wife and daughter accept the fact that if I die on my bike at least I will die happy and free. But I completely understand why you and so many other people sell their bikes. It's dangerous and getting worse each day. As a biker (51 years), I survived this long by deeply pondering moves into traffic, and intersecting roadways…. This is the exact reason why me and my husband gave up riding this past year. Got rid of our yamaha R1, our Verago and traded the Harley in for a lil 50 dirtbike for our kids. Since moving to FL the drivers are so stupid here, it amazes me. Every day we went out riding, someone somewhere, didn't matter what time of day, would nearly kill us. EVERY SINGLE TIME. After 1 year of attempting to ride after moving here, I wouldn't go out anymore and my husband won't ride without me by his side so he made the decision. I couldn't handle the stress it was causing me. I couldn't enjoy myself. Riding was an escape for me. Now, I'm terrified of it. It wasn't so bad when we lived in CT but here in FL. Forget it. I only rode a motorcycle for under 2 years of my life. It was among the most fun pieces of transportation I have ever known, but (and I don't need to embellish or exaggerate), every single time I operated that bike, at SOME point, I needed to make an expedient and efficient move to avoid a collision, and I mean without fail. Every time I rode, at least rode longer than a few minutes worth of travel time. People, as a way of life, DO not and WILL not see you, even if there are zero obstacles or objects between you on your bike, and them, traveling toward you at any rate of speed. Breaks anyones heart to see shit like this go down.

I rode 20 years. I was more lucky then good- no major issues. I was also paranoid. I assumed every car was out to get me. I ALWAYS made sure I could see both ways. A CLASSIC mistake is to go past a vehicle or object that you cannot clearly see around. In this case, he made many mistakes. He was in a rush. He started out into traffic while the pickup on his left completely blocked his view to his left. He was also looking to his right since he was more concerned about traffic coming up from behind him. Reasonable but he needed to WAIT and clearly look both directions. Then, you have to MOVE. I never went out slowly onto the road or off an exit. You have to make sure the coast is clear and MOVE relatively quickly- and be very prepared always, to nail the throttle. I always left myself multiple OUTS- like hitting the gas- or brake or even an out to go off road onto th grass- even if I crashed, I would live. Had he even nailed the gas hard in 1st gear, he would have shot across the stree and lived.
A few practial tips I learned over the years...
A tricky scenario that happens is when you are boxed in on a highway- truck in front and to your left- then the car on your right tries to merge into you. You have nowhere to go. Always check tire pressure too, especially when it gets very cold or hot out as it changes. Be aware of water or oil on the ground like at a toll booth. Never over fill the gas- the overflow tube spills it out and directly onto the rear tire. Be cautious of riding in a group. Bikers can come up on your side. Also, don't try to keep up with faster riders. Do install a steering dampner which can help prevent those infamous tank slappers. Do not ride one handed. I did once- hit a bump and it threw me back which forced my right hand back and applied full throttle.
I had several close calls and eventually sold it when I moved and never replaced it. I quit while I was way ahead. Best thing I ever did. If you ride (don't), but if you do, take a safe riding course and learn how to countersteer. Always ride proactively. Expect the unexpected at all times. Then it is just a matter of time until you have a bad day.
My friend was a better rider then me. He role for only ~5 years and went down last year. A big truck was nearly stopped in the slow lane on a highway doing road work. He was going a bit fast and did not have time to get over- and I think cars were blocking him as well as I mentioned happens. There was traffic behind him and also in his left lane. Regarldless, he is now near fully paralyzed for life. He is quite miserable. He WAS a good looking, 20 something year old cool dude- like a James Dean- a bit of a rebel but very down to earth, friendly chap. He had a new family- all mostly gone. New, actually very job- gone. In pain 24/7. Only one bad arm partly works. He cannot even wipe himself or shake when cold or sweat when hot. The sad part is this was his last ride. He was selling the bike and wanted one last hurrah. If this hell can happen to him- it can happen to you. In fact, if you ride, it is waiting for you. This I promise. Sell it now.
Riding was fun- events were fun but it is NOT worth it in 2023. Far too many distracted idiots on the road. This accident though was avoidable though I will say, it's harder to spot a very fast car because you expect to see them within 100 feet or so and if he is 200+ feet away and moving fast, it's easy to miss or even hear.
    R.I.P.

I am 44 years old, not married or have ever had a girlfriend, I ride a KTM Duke 390 and even though i believe at my current age that I'm a really good rider and use my brains when I'm on the road with my life, your words bring me back to the reality out there... too many idiots! A wake up call for me! I don't know what to do. Maybe I Should give in and pick a girl for myself and buy me a fast car or one of them mini SUVs like the suzuki jimny. Take a step back 😅
My apologies for this essay. My heart goes out to this biker and the car driver who was speeding i believe, but still. Wish it never happened! May their loved ones find peace somehow, and the car driver some consolation, I'd feel horrible to be him or her right now.

After researching this it was reported that the driver hit a second parked vehicle and then fled the scene on foot, he left a passenger behind in his totaled vehicle. They caught the driver later on near the boarder of Mexico. They still have not identified the motorcyclist.

I had a bike in the early seventies (1974)....a station wagon passed me in a single lane on-ramp in Oakland CA...looked at me while he forced me of the road and I caught a cable just under the headlight on the forks. The bike stopped, I didn't. When I got out of Oak Knoll hospital 2 weeks later, my bike was waiting for me in the parking lot of the barracks on base, my buddy had arranged for it to be repaired. All shiny and new....I went upstairs, got a sheet of paper...put for sale, make offer...within minutes it was sold for $100 on the spot....never have been on another one....//

Where I live, if that BMW was speeding more than 30mph over the limit it is a criminal offense. If he was impaired it is a criminal offense. A criminal offense will render that driver "at fault" for any accident automatically even if they had the "right of way". Makes sense.

@SalvadorSanchez-hq9hn fuck me dead already...some of you are that fakn stupid that you just can not use a bit of imagination. Let's say there was two cars coming at you, normal speed is what it appears. You look at it and say I have enough time to pull out, next thing you mnow there's a fucken speeding car behind them that appeared out of know where, because its obvious he is going 150kmh and decided to go in between the two car that you clearly saw doing normal speed. Guess what..it fakn too late now.
So f all of you that are saying it's the motorbikes fault..you look left and right, coast is clear... in those 5 secs this speeding maniac has managed to go between 4 cars that were blocking you from seeing him earlier. It's not rocket science. If this has never ever happened to you while you were driving then I understand. But I see it s lot. Pulling out of a street in my car every now and then you come across a situation like this.
Noone goes in front of a speeding car on purpose fo fk sake.
