Star Trek is a show that I enjoy. It was a time of fun and excitement. Once it was cancelled, it was even better with the conventions, books, magazines, etc. Once a Trekkie ... Always a Trekkie.🎃🌙
He's one of the last major hosts of his kind left. They used to have guys like him showing crummy films or horror classics from every major city coast to coast. There was the original Svengoolie, Vampira, Lil Chuck and Big John, Ghoulardi, Superhost, and many others like them. (Superhost and Big Chuck and Lil' John were the B-movie hosts from my area growing up; both their shows broadcast out of Cleveland, Ohio. Big Chuck and Lil' John carried their show well into the 2000s. Superhost's show ended in the late 1980s.) Elvira's probably the best known of these hosts nationally now. The tapes of the other guys, if they still exist, are locked in the archives of the local stations that employed them. They'll probably never replay skits of their shows or release them to home video for copyright reasons (they used a lot of copyrighted materials in those shows that the stations no longer have the rights to) or the belief that not enough people would care to see this stuff rebroadcast anyway. The current Svengoolie took over the title from a previous host that he idolized. This Svengoolie originally started as Son of Svengoolie with the blessing of the previous Svengoolie.
Majel Barrett actually played 6 characters in the Star Trek universe. Apart from what Svengoolie already mentioned, i.e. Number 1, Nurse Chapel, ship's onboard computer & Lwaxana Troi, she also voiced M'Ress in the cartoon series, the feline human you will see later in this video, but Majel was not mentioned. Of course her greatest character as aforementioned, was being Gene Roddenberry's girlfriend/spouse in real life.
Susan Oliver's role in Twilight Zone is the very same character as she plays in the plot of The Cage. This pilot was a variant of the Zone episode that took place between the first astronaut to Mars and the Martians who, spoilers, put him in a zoo.
WRONG! THERE WAS ONE MORE ORIGNAL CREW MEMBER IN "THE CAGE." ACTRESS MAJAEL BARRET (AKA NURSE CHAPPEL!) IN "THE CAGE" EPISODE, SHE WAS THE ORIGNAL #1. THE ONLY FEMALE MEMBER ON THE BRIDGE.
Hey! The pilot wasn't "slow", it explored too many ideas, was too layered in terms of plot, and was just too smart for TV, considering one of the highest rated shows at the time was fucking Mr. Ed...
If you mix Tylosenal and Viagra you see what happened you grow a goatty, you ware a funny hat, on top of that you get circles around your eyes. But the worst thing is, you sleep in a tomb with rubber chickens. That's true horror!
Never saw this Svengoolie guy before. Don't have ME.TV Quite a character though. Witty and funny. Some of the jokes are a bit old or corny, but entertaining nonetheless.
You really don't understand how RUclips works, do you? Of course, the uploader can't upload the entire episode with The Cage footage in it! He'd get a copyright strike from CBS if he did that! That's not the point anyway. It's just highlighting an episode of this host's show where they did show The Cage in its full form. They NEVER showed the entire network cut of The Cage in syndication because of the commercial breaks. At least 20 minutes of The Cage was cut out in the syndication run. Kind of a moot point now... More people probably watch Star Trek streaming if they haven't bought it on home video...
Not sure who this clown is. Anyway, Spock did smile in the regular episode This Side of Paradise, where he said at the end, for the first time in his life, he was happy.
I see a missed opportunity here. Physically disabled people from the federation could have a good life. And the Talosians have fresh minds to entertain.
If both are consenting parties, what's wrong with that? I guess you'd rather the Talosians continue using devious means to get beings there. And disabled federation citizens continue to live miserable lives.
The problem with that is that the Talosians are capable of casting illusions across an unlimited distance, well outside the quarantine zone imposed by Starfleet. Therefore the Talosians can't ever actually be beaten. They don't seem to have any problem with A. Bringing people to their planet under false pretenses. And B. Then holding people against their will indefinitely.

that is very true.
Svengoole , he is so interesting, witty, personable, entertaining, to listen to and watch. God bless Mr Sveengoole

I always loved Susan Oliver. Since a kid.

Oliver was one of the prettiest women on the planet then....; just plain stunningly gorgeous.!

S Tho But nobody refers to the Twilight Zone episode as being "cerebral".
star trek and svengoolie a great combo like peanut butter and jelly
I believe Majel Barrett-Roddenberry was in the pilot in addition to later series.
I believe he must have meant "characters" as opposed to actors. I noticed that, too.
Yes, she was Number One in the pilot...and Nurse Chapelle in TOS.
Svengoolie always makes me lol!
Thanks so much for this! I discovered this show a while back but missed this episode!!
I don't care not seeing the cage or menagerie. I have them both on VHS. Woo Hooo.. I missed this episode of Svengoolie. I liked it...

Me too. I was going to write in and ask them to rerun this.

I don't see the episode anywhere :--((((((((((((((((((
Is it me, or does svengoolie look like Sipowitz from NYPD Blue?
okay, everything but the actual episode.
you forgot majel barrett as number 1. she's original to the series!!
ruger kidd. But not a series character. Different role, of course.
need to re-title this to just _"Svengoolie"_ ...there's no Star Trek episode what-so-ever in this clip
You really don't understand how RUclips works, do you?

So a cage is alright if the treats are good enough?
Interesting.
If both are consenting parties, what's wrong with that?

You promised the original pilot. You lied thumbs down 👎
many of your analogizes are wrong, get it right
false advertising
I'd have to see Svengoolie's johnson to compare him to Ron Jeremy
effing commercials...
if you do the crime you deserve incarceration, and hell.
