- Lidl-Trek are on a roll. Mads Pederson pushed the world champion and recent E3 winner, Mathieu van der Poel, to his limits at Gent Wevelgem, getting the better of him with a final power surge to the line. Elisa Balsamo mirrored these efforts, having out-sprinting Lotte Kopecky at Trofeo Alfredo Binda, she then went on to win Brugge-De Panne. Is there more Lidl-Trek dominance to come?

Will there be more Lidl-Trek domination? 🥇
Hmm, it certainly is an effective strategy against MvdP. You have to have strength in numbers to wear him out over time. Mathieu was basically chasing down Milan on his own, whilst Pedersen was just sailing along behind him. Still, Mads was super strong and an equal match in Wevelgem. Maybe Alpecin should change their game plan for flanders and ride for Mathieu instead of Jasper. They had some strong guys in the chasing group, so i would use them more offensively. The first billionaire bicycle company due to the success of Lance Armstrong and doesn’t pay a Liveablewage to their retail showroom employees here in the States.
Trek management are evil.
Lidl should separate themselves from such inhumane behavior.

SO happy to see Pedersen take home Wevelgem
I totally agree with your comment about seeing a race live.
I came all the way from Canada to celebrate turning 65 by watching a race in person. It was everything I imagined and more.
Going to see the tour of Flanders on Sunday after doing the sportive on Saturday. Living the dream 🎉
That's fantastic. I'm jealous! Dan
I think MVDP's first attack on the Kemmel gave the race to LTK. From so far out , if he had just refused to ride with Pederson and Milano those two could have been caught with a team effort and a not overworked MVDP. As for The Pog , he said a few years ago that you can never have too much time in a stage race. One flat in the wrong place and it could be over. Win it if you can.
Pedersen* Milan* Opinion: dismissed
Im impressed by how often i see Pederson/Phillipson etc. @@CHRoOMAX
A team effort would have had to include Jasper Philipsen and therein lies the problem. Søren Kragh Andersen could not have done it alone and Philipsen didn't want to give up his own chance. And that's it, they didn't have the team to do it because one isn't a team player.
That Corn on the Cobbles shirt is a solide design!!
Dan's voice sounds exactly like mine after a weekend in Belgium with a few too many glasses of liquid gold. Wait...
It was MvdP vs. Lidl Trek.
the crash of today really made me look at cycling differently. iew on cycling
Sinds Paris Roubaix of last year I couldn’t but help to think about the morality of cycling. Knowing the work and sacrifice the Reinders put in for the race, for the fans knowing the risk they are taking. Sadly Gino has shown the no one is safe from the ultimate price of the sport.
When looking at races such as de Ronde or Paris-Roubaix it does feel like watching gladiolus not only competing against wacht other but also battling faith itself. When I saw the image of the fall of dwars door Vlaanderen I could help to think about all the loved ones watching their partner, sons and dad screaming in tears and gasping for help. I wish everyone a good recovery and mental strength to overcome this day.
Trying to win EVERY time you get on the bike...is not greedy....its what champions do....ask Jordan, Mahomes, Tiger....any of the greats
I think of more of a danger of burning out by trying to do too much as opposed to just being rude for winning or something.
Totally agree.
Go no further... Eddie Merckxx ... Every time every ride
@@SergioCristancho Lance even said ....."no gifts"....
And we all know Jordan and Woods were some of the best bike riders....
Footage from Dan’s mobile has been better than any highlights made by Eurosport so far this season
It still feels unreal that I will be in Belgium and riding the cobbles myself and watching the races the day after in a few days.
You’ll love it. Flanders goes crazy during RVV
@@warm_cup_of_battery_acid3672 I‘m sure it will be great. I had this planed last year but was knocked out by a stomach bug a few days before.
have a great time!
Lidl had a Trek around Flanders. Nice pun ;)
The resolution of your phone seems better than that of the camera in the bike.
i want a documentary that follows some ppl going around Belgium during this holy week. do it discovery!
Thats an awesome idea! The documentaries about the ronde behind the scenes were just so cool. I wonder why they stopped doing them. It was pure gold imho!
Smart Matthew, that much beer have a hard ride hurts the already microtorn muscles.
"...as we build up towards what, in Belgium, is like a second Christmas day." Mate, it's literally Easter 😄
Had Jonas done it, GCN would’ve said « Omg Visma: Can’t stop won’t stop! »
vingegaard does the same
It's not greedy, he's just programmed that way! #brilliant
I heard there are artisanal springs at the foot of every cobbled climb in Belgium that bubble up some of the world's finest mineral water. Can Dan Lloyd confirm this?
😂 He can confirm!
I honestly didn’t get the feeling that VDP was at his best on Sunday… on Friday he was just so much more punchy and reactive in my opinion
Well Den , you gotta go to cx race if you ever have opportunity 😎
Mads P 🚴🥇
Would GCN racing ever cover domestic races?
They do
Holi week or Holy week?
should have kept the mullet.
We heard that it was aerodynamically refined in a windtunnel!

Voice sounding a bit croaky Dan...to much shouting or to much Belgium "hospitality"?!
😂
8 stays long . Put your teeth in Dan 😂

MVDP
Mads van der Pedersen
Mads will win next sunday again🤗
How? solo? sprint? We'd love to know your prediction!
Tadej greedy? Tadej boring? did GCN ever said that to MVDP??????? I think not. Can't find any fault with Tadej huh?
Why do i feel mvdp is wasted on alpecin. Like the races his been doing so far i only see him alone, no back up. Even in milan his the only one bridging gaps.
Chun-ching
youre not the smartest are you. he has SKA helping him soo much in E3, even said in the interview after.
Had the same thought a couple of years back but it seems to me he gets to pick and choose races and tactics in a way WVA can't at a big team.
Just because you don't see the work being done, doesn't mean it isn't there. Positioning, keeping him out of the wind, protecting him untill the finale. Alpecin has a very strong team, Søren Kragh and Vermeersch to name a few.
@@mikkelline11 well it also could be you didnt see it maybe it really isnt wasnt there. If you compare other teams. Visma, uae, trek, before each leader attacks there is a domestic pacing in the front most of the time
There is nothing wrong with wining whenever you can. It’s not being greedy. Bad take
