Rob Liefield could get a chronically depressed person exicted for comics. Love his energy and passion. Also, I love his art. Born in '84, and my childhood was filled with his art, McFarlane's, and many others of the era. These guys were like rock stars to my friends and I. We would buy comics at the corner store (back when you could still do that,) run down the street to the pond/forest nearby where there was a little island in the pond we had made into our HQ. We would sit for hours reading them, passing them back and forth, whooping and hollering at awesome scenes, and just having a blast doing it. Great times, for a bunch of kids in the Pacific Northwest in the 90s.
Whether you like his art or not, no one can deny Rob's love for the industry and his energy is contagious. Every time he impersonates Todd McFarlane it's hilarious. I've been enjoying your interviews tremendously.
This is amazing. Two great creators together. Mr.Liefeld, you and the rest of the image crew were my heroes when I was a kid although I really was able to appreciate what you guys did when I was older. Mr. Millar you helped expand what I thought a comic could be after Chris Claremont, plus The Ultimates was a favorite of mine. Thanks for the conversation.
This was a revelation, absolutely brilliant interview. I’m not a fan of Rob’s work but his knowledge of comics and the industry is amazing, I could listen to him for hours, he is so charismatic- well done Mark !
Thank you so much Mark for putting this together. It is awesome to listen to you two talk about my comics. Rarely do you see such enthusiasm like this for the genre by creators these days. I could listen to this for days!
I resonate with Rob's son on Geoff Johns Green Lantern, that was the run that got me into comics. I'm around his son's age too. Really great discussion this channel is going to be a gem
Epic! Worked with Rob on his Netflix deal while at WME (left for Warners before they parted ways). Yes he's uncompromising, but I respect that so much about him. His passion is priceless. -As is his better half Joy. Fabulous interview!
Wow!!! First thank Mark Miller for your fantastic story telling skills. I’d love to meet you someday to pick your brain. Also thank you for doing these videos. I will watch them all. Rob omg I wish when I met him at comic con I saw the guy on this video. I don’t know if he was having a bad week but he wasn’t as talkative or friendly as on this video. But I enjoy his insight and views!
Weird pitch: Mark writes his own Millarverse "Legion of Super-heroes", Rob draws the first 6 issue arc. Rob's a character design machine and would get the archetypes.
@@geneawisea2708 I found LOSH in the late 80’s as the adult team, and i had no idea they were even a teen team until later. Was my favorite book with Levitz, Giffen and Jurgens contributions
Listening to lifelds podcast, made me realize, he's a kid with the best job in the world and the money to do what he wants. He had more enthusiasm than most of the industry combined. I love the dude. Edit - respect for mentioning ang Lee hulk. I love that movie, and it's super underrated.
Also a huge SubMariner fan, and I don’t think Rob will even recognize the character in this flick. Really liked the podcast and the obvious love and passion for you two have for your craft.
I’ve watched both of your Kayfabe interviews. Now I’m watching you talk to each other! I love it! Edit: Just finished the whole thing. Going back to watch episode 1.
1:51:54 100 grand a month is correct. That was Peter David making that much in royalties for his writing at Marvel. Then fast forward to today and he has a GoFundMe to pay his taxes. 😕
Wonder if Mark would ever consider interviewing an Indy guy like Zack. Actually, as I think about it, don’t think Zack would do it. Would be pretty cool if he did though.
Mark, this is Awesome! Always great to hear from Rob and it’s fantastic the stories you pulled from each other. Seriously great oral history and insight from you two.
Mark has a channel! Sweet! Ever since his shoot interview with Cartoonist Kayfabe, I've been much more interested in him as a creative, so very happy to see he has this outlet. BTW, preordered most of all the books that are plugged in the beginning.
Great interview, I loved hearing him imitating Todd and telling a bit about the time they started Image. And I've said this after watching Todd talking about how the whole process went: the worlds needs a movie about that story. I think it would be pretty cool. And the idea of Rob being head of DC comics it's so insane that I actually would like to see it, at the very least I don't think it can go worse than how things are right now
Love him or hate him he defined the art style of an entire decade of entertainment. He absolutely RULED the 90s - Mortal Kombat , Spawn (first costume) and more. Even the concepts he introduced - Youngblood the celebrity superheros- continue to be relevant today. Hes one of the greatest of all time. He had a bigger impact than any of his contemporaries.
1:38:36 that movie actually opened opportunities for Wildstorm! It was made cheap, and it was a hit overseas. Disney was the North America Distributor, John Nee made sure to have a different international distributor.
Rob’s brain explodes with serotonin at the moment he mentions Jimmy Carter in the X-Men comic. Every interview needs a Jimmy Carter mention from now on, Mark.
Mr. Millar the love you show for comics, let it be the medium itself , the characters , it’s history , creators even ground level fans it’s overwhelming. I’m enjoying big game as I was a kid, I haven’t had this feeling since some years now, please keep up the incredible work you and you drawing mates keep doing. By the way, thanks to BG i got to discover some works of yours I wasn’t aware of and man….in freaking love them And to think years ago i thought you where an idiot because you had a bad experience in an hotel in my beautiful tenerife and you described it as a nightmare… crazy Albion guy I thought I have a house or used to have one and lived there many months every year so to my tenerife was And always be paradise. People in loving honest and kind … That was until I had to return when already wasn’t living thereand I was forced to live the tourist hotel experience …..man , that was hell It’s gotten better though , much better.
Yo pensaba que este hombre, Liefild era un hombre tonto, pero este tipo es increíble, tanta pasión y conocimiento sobre su industria, se ha ganado mi respeto.
Hey Mark, question for you. What do you think is the best way for fresh blood (like me, or those like me) to break into comics right now? On a personal level, I worry that even if I could afford the $100+ per page most artists seem to ask, I also don't know if I'd get any meaningful sales as a completely unknown element, thereby not even breaking even on investment. But I also know the mainstream industry wouldn't be a great path either; they wouldn't print "Sparrow, Home Made Hero" for example, and even if they did they'd likely limit it to a 6-12 issue miniseries and not give me the serialization I'd need to finish the story.
Who doesn't love Rob and his Todd McFarlane impression and amazing stories. I've always enjoyed his art even with its flaws but I like Rob the person almost more.
10 years ago Mark Millar said hollywood would hurt comics. I think that turned out to be true The screen usurped the comic book. Prior to the mcu this was not the case it also helped destroy the reader fanbase I have not bought a new comic most of this year (spawn).
It would be interesting to see the digital comics subject dissected in some of the upcoming interviews! I couldn’t shut this one off though. Well done Edit. You guys should give Action Comics by Johnson a shot if you haven’t checked it out. My favorite DC comic and Waid is obviously killing it with Batman vs Robin and World’s Finest but War World Saga was epic.
I agree 100% about prequels. I didn’t care about Solo because I watched him die in Force Awakens. The same with Black Widow. House of the Dragon is boring me now, too. They need to knock it off with the prequels.
Rob Liefield could get a chronically depressed person exicted for comics. Love his energy and passion. Also, I love his art. Born in 84 as well. Grew up in the hudson valley in the 90s. Similar stories.
Whether you like his art or not, no one can deny Rob's love for the industry and his energy is contagious. Every time he impersonates Todd McFarlane it's hilarious. I've been enjoying your interviews tremendously.
Absolutely true! But I truly love his at your face art style! AGL
Finally seeing some podcasts from great creators. Comics needs this. We gotta start discussing the industry, etc.
Loved this interview. I love Rob's passion for comics and the fact that he still has that 🔥.. just brilliant.
Rob's McFarlane impression is genuinely so spot on and hilarious
This is amazing. Two great creators together. One "great creator",sorry....
Awesome interview 👏 I enjoyed the passion Rob has for Superman movies. Cheers! 🍻
Great interview! Their enthusiasm and love of comics is absolutely contagious. About a hour in and I realized I had been smiling the whole time.
Rob is a legend, love him and his passion is just infectious.
Absolutely brilliant
Rob’s love for comics is so infectious
This was a revelation, absolutely brilliant interview. I’m not a fan of Rob’s work but his knowledge of comics and the industry is amazing, I could listen to him for hours, he is so charismatic- well done Mark !
Welcome! Can't wait to see more videos. Would absolutely love to see a Shooter interview.
Thank you so much Mark for putting this together. It is awesome to listen to you two talk about my comics. Rarely do you see such enthusiasm like this for the genre by creators these days. I could listen to this for days!
Keep it coming with the great conversations!!
I have always enjoyed Rob's art and his passion for comics is genuine! Awesome episode, Mark! AGL
This was such a great interview! Love Rob and Mark. And can’t wait to read Night Club #1, got it on my pull list.
Great stream with two very talented juggernauts!
Thank you! 👊
I resonate with Rob's son on Geoff Johns Green Lantern, that was the run that got me into comics. I'm around his son's age too. Really great discussion this channel is going to be a gem
One of my favorite artist growing up. Responsible for so many classic characters and be of the best personalities in comic books.
Rob made a new fan today, great podcast! Also, I NEED to see this GEN13 jim lee cartoon project. Sounds amazing.
No way! I was just listening to Robservations. Awesome interview!
Epic! Worked with Rob on his Netflix deal while at WME (left for Warners before they parted ways). Yes he's uncompromising, but I respect that so much about him. His passion is priceless. -As is his better half Joy. Fabulous interview!
So great to see the enthusiasm on show here from two creators who love the medium. We need more of this in the industry. Great interview.
I really enjoyed the Netflix Jupiter's Legacy, was bummed that they stopped after only a season
I was dying at the Birdbrain discussion. Good stuff

From a Giffen LOSH fan, Your idea Could be amazing !

What a great and insightful interview.
Man, I absolutely loved this sit-down. I wish you guys could make this a semi-regular thing.
This was a fantastic conversation of two friends/fans
Mark Millar holy cow! Your Netflix show was so cool and not too preachy, so course it was cancelled!
Glad you have this channel
Mark I just discovered your channel. Been a fan since Kick Ass #1. You inspired me to make comics. Finding your channel is like a dream come true.
Also a huge SubMariner fan, and I don’t think Rob will even recognize the character in this flick. Really liked the podcast and the obvious love and passion for you two have for your craft.
Never really been that crazy about Liefeld before but his passion and knowledge was riverting in this. I will definalty give his podcast a listen.
god such a cool conversation! thanks for this content!
I’ve watched both of your Kayfabe interviews. Now I’m watching you talk to each other! I love it!
Edit: Just finished the whole thing. Going back to watch episode 1.
Should have asked Rob when I’m getting my Brigade book from his indiegogo campaign
1:51:54 100 grand a month is correct. That was Peter David making that much in royalties for his writing at Marvel. Then fast forward to today and he has a GoFundMe to pay his taxes. 😕
Love the passion he has for comics. Heady nostalgia rush listening to him talk about X-Force...

I love Rob’s passion in today’s social media environment.
If Rob Liefeld became a bartender hed be the best. people would love him.

Jorge Jiminez is one of the best Batman artist’s ever. So good.
I know! I'm completely in awe of his work these last couple years.
Rob’s brain explodes with serotonin at the moment he mentions Jimmy Carter in the X-Men comic. Every interview needs a Jimmy Carter mention from now on, Mark.

I really enjoyed this.
this is a real joy
Rob Liefeld is a great comic mind. Not a big fan but I give him props.
These are great.
2:02:00 great story about Jack Kirby and impersonation LOL
I feel the same way about the MCU. I haven't watched any of the shows and very few of the post Endgame movies.
Damnnn. Could you imagine rob in charge of D.C. omg. I am pushing that in the universe. I think he would create a absolutely wonderful product!
Can't wait for the next interview 🔥
Hey Mark, question for you. What do you think is the best way for fresh blood (like me, or those like me) to break into comics right now?

Good to see you, Rob. You've lost some weight, though. Hope everything is going okay
Salute, Mr. Millar
Great Jack Kirby Quote 👍
I wish I lived close enough to a comic store, I live over 2 hours away from one, and would love to order your comics.
Who doesn't love Rob and his Todd McFarlane impression and amazing stories. I've always enjoyed his art even with its flaws but I like Rob the person almost more.
Rob’s Todd’s impressions is so damn funny hahahahahaha
Great video!
Great episode. Todd impression. So funny
Damn. Rob is always entertaining.
Great impressions.
Have Rob on again! He's awesome! Also Alan Moore?
Dios necesito que alguien publique estás entrevistas con subtítulos u,u
Great interview, but MAN, Rob’s Mcfarlane impression is amazing!!

I appreciated his incredibly democratic reply as to whether he had seen Black Adam. 😆 Can't blame him at all.
Interesting take on Jurassic Park 3. It might have been great if not for Tea Leoni, who just dragged down the whole affair.
Disagree
Sad to see comic porch isn’t in the comments section
