  • The U.S. Army is exploring methods to detect and neutralize these hazards at a standoff, creating a passable vehicle-wide lane while reducing the risk to the breaching force.
Amit Makhijani, with the office of Project Manager Close Combat Systems, explained, “We are doing dynamic live fire testing on one potential concept as part of the Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction efforts.”

Anti tank mines are not the problem. Big, larger explosive. What matters are anti personnel mines, that do not self destruct or have other failures. Worst kind are boobytraps or mines that look like toys or harmless. The result is that there are still minefields from WW1 and WW2 in Africa, and Europe (I can only assume in Asia) that are not cleared.

I always wanted a GER metal detector.
Makes sense to put one good at detecting mines on a drone.
    🤣

A much faster way would be to use a Octocopter type Drone with AI vision to map a minefield to locate mines and then place a small detonating charge on each one. A drone like this could clear a large field in an hour or 2. Goblin looks interesting but its not going to help Ukraine clear thousands of acres of minefields.
