Can I just say thank you for keeping this clear and concise. So many content creators just read from the patch notes, like bro I could do that
Seriously. They're in such a rush to be first that they just put zero effort in. And people give them views as if anybody making a video 15 minutes after the patch dropped is going to have any useful information whatsoever.
He’s the best
If mort covers it, I always prefer his coverage. Straight and to the point. Pleasant demeanor etc.
True
Years of feedback and practice, thank you!
The new durge ending is way better than just "for bhaal" roll credits
Well done for Larian. What an amazing approach to making games. Thanks for being concise about the update. I wish I COULD have an evil playthrough, I just cannot do it 😂
Absolutely my favorite reviewer. Thank you for making it concise and not just reading patch notes. 10/10 reviewer glad I found you years ago!
Never knew mort was so popular in the horny bot circles.
Better than the CP and racist ones.
Huh
@@TheParagonIsDead there has been a significant increase in bot comments on RUclips the past few months. Some of them pretend to be other popular channels, some pretend to be horny people, and some promote CP and various forms of bigotry.
@@Blasted2Oblivion oh.
That’s… so great. What the internet has become.
@@TheParagonIsDeadBut hey, RUclips decreased the automatic quality to 360p!
I really appreciate the growing trend of console game mod support.
My only playthrough was a Durge playthrough at launch so this feels a little bittersweet. I'd have liked more of this content THEN but having it NOW for future playthroughs is nice.
In my only playthrough, I didn't use the Mindflayer powers at all (beyond what was necessary for story progression), and didnt use any tadpoles i found. IIRC that had absolutely no consequence at all, which i found disappointing, I could've used a bunch of cool powers and gotten the same ending... good that they seem to have changed that
In my second playthrough I used the powers as much as possible, and in the end I did have to pass a DC 30 check to resist turning into a mind flayer, which is something... but of course I just savescummed my way through, and with the right build a DC 30 Wisdom (IIRC) check could barely be an obstacle at all.
@ryke_masters Could have just stomped the astral tadpole without the save.
Yeah I did the same on my first run after early access, played gith so consumed and used none of the tadpoles, but was disappointed that it didn’t do anything really.
@@eugenefromchaos5615 I'm pretty sure that choice happens significantly before the DC 30 check. Either way, I didn't look up ahead of time exactly what impact the choices would have, chose not to immediately use the tadpole but also not destroy it, and then later had to face a DC30 check or else one hundo percent turn into a mind flayer. Maybe earlier on I could have prevented it, but not at the time I found out about the check!
As I said, I don't think the DC 30 check is a huge thing, it is arguably way too easily surmountable, but it is a consequence of using the mind flayer powers, so there is a scenario where using the powers too much locks you into becoming illithid (unless you savescum or can easily pass a DC 30 check).
Ah, the Bushy Karlach (3:59), my favorite mod now included on the official mod manager.
I hope there is a mod or a patch that adds new loot. It would be fun to play again and discover new rewards.
There are tons of them. I use 2 mods myself - new jewelry, and new capes.
Or a mode to randomize loot some
I think there's a mod that makes a lot of bosses drops custom gears. iirc the name is "Orochigago's....". They have 2 batches of gears that are separated into two mods), but iirc it only includes weapons, shields, and accessories. (No Armors)
Thank you Mort. Very much looking forward to an evil Durge play through.
Would love to see a video in the future about which official mods you recommend.
man the new endings can be so brutal it's great
Short, sweet, concise, and informative. well done and thank you
Been looking forward to this update all summer. Just started a new CONAN THE BARBARIAN style character on my new i9 12900k with a RTX 3080/12GB vram etc and so far am enjoying the update with no problems. Thanks for the great info and the news on the honor system and modding ☕
I'm so glad my first run was Durge redemption. Now I can play a evil Durge run to it's fullest!
I played Durge in the meanest way I could but eventually arrived at redemption because I couldn't bring myself to be too mean to ones and zeros haha. I killed Izabelle but couldn't bring myself to do it to nightsong in. I love that this game brings out unique stories for each one of us and I'm glad to know I might boot it up again to play a horrendously bad person and get a satisfying ending still.
Wonderful video. First time viewer, and very impressed with your professionalism, my friend. I’ll be watching all your vids from here on out. Trust. 🙏🏻✝️
Actually thinking of creating a little mod for my daughter to play thanks to this patch. We will see
I wish we got some DLC for this. I would have loved more story, companions, classes etc. 😞
Gotta respect larian they go to the next project instead of milking bg3
You can "thank" Wizards of the coast for no DLC
Wotc was fine with them doing dlc. Larian were feeling extreme burnout and were very happy when Sven changed his mind.
Some of their other games have allowed mods to expand. Although I know that's not what you want
It’s was sort of planned
But then WotC started getting weird so Larian dropped them hard
5:17 -- PSSSSSHT!!! photo mode is hugely necessary. i think most of my starfield playthrough was spent in photo mode 😎
Cyberpunk 2077? Sorry, you mean Night City Tourist Simulator?
Good thing I held off on evil playthroughs, there's a couple origin characters I'm curious about. Most of the QoL mods are also already in the game, so now I'll just wait for a bit of customization to be ported over before I jump back in.
I'm glad you gave Bethesda a bit of a nod as I feel they're such an easy target and it's so unjust. Yes, a company synonymous with bugs, and maybe rightly so, but I haven't played any game as much as the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series'. Loads of credit gets given to modders, but the base games gave such an amazing platform which games struggle to compete with even now
The saddest part is that now the modders are doing bethesda better than bethesda themselves.
Just compare Fallout london and starfield...
@@etienne8110 apart from if that was true modders would be creating the base games. Modders can only work off the base game and so it's absolutely ludicrous people slag off Bethesda when their games have more longevity with mods than any other game I've played!!! Witcher 3 was praised at release but where is it now? Skyrim has been played for over a decade because of the strength of the base game!!! That's the point!!! Mods increase longevity, and so great move business wise by Larian implementing mod support, but mods are only as good as the strength of the base game. It's like biting the hand that feeds you!!!
@@daveyfunk thx for making my point. You must go back 15 years ago to find a bethesda game worth mentionning.
Bethesda hasn’t made a good game since Skyrim bro
Thanks for the video. I still haven't finished making my character. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
Hey, nice video!
Could you by chance post a video on the „best“ mods that are available?
I just started my second run after playing a couple hundred hour fully good campaign and it’s so hard to make evil decisions, but throwing barcus off the windmill was hilarious (as well as finding him later)
Mod manager is going to be nice playing around with. Can't say I'm not disappointed that there wasn't any real combat balances (bard/monk OP) or Bug fixes (Polearm master still doesn't work fully with Pact of the Blade and certain damage riders. I've given up on Sentinel Working. Tavern Brawler only applies to hit chance when Druid Wildshapes)
Maybe do best Mods for BG3.
That would be so great now that official mod support is here
I hope this includes console mods
the mudshark in the underdark is honestly terrifying now. he just stalkes you around the zone with god mode turned on, adds a new feel to the area.
yeah it finally feels like an apex predator, and you its prey
Been waiting for this!!!
Part of me wishes Larion could aquire all the rights so we could get more D&D content. Such a rich world of lore being ruined by WOTC
Crossplay is HUGE! Im finally gonna be able to play with my friends!
The kind of mods I want most are to raise the level cap to 16 or 20, give more classes and subclasses, address major bugs and issues, and polish performance further.
Thanks Mort! Now I can do an evil dark urge playthrough
The honor mode ruleset available for custom mode is such a blessing!
I've never played this game but I'm glad I now know what's going on with patch 7 xD
play it!!! play it now!!!
Thank you for walking this title all the way home Mort!
Top summary! Can't see if they fixed Cerys as a part of every battle if you have Minthara in party though...or knocked out Halsin in camp who you can't wake up if you knocked him out in Goblin camp.
*adds Informative and Enjoyable tags after mentioning video might be such* :P
I loved BG3. If it's not my favorite game ever it's certainly up there. But if this is the end of the line for coverage of the game, that kinda feels fitting. It's been fun, but I'm ready to move on to talking about something else.
Honestly same, short of substantial new content which we arent getting I have beat this game to death.
Great addition to an already EPIC game. Sad that Larian is moving on, but have to respect their decision. And with what WotCies turned into, it's for the best. Can't wait to see what new things they come up with next.
Looking forward to this.
Now I just need to figure out what class I want my overtly evil durge to be. Think I might try a necro since....things happen to Gale and I'll be wizardless.
They really need to add something to change the mod directory, I don't have any space on my C drive for the mods, I have another m.2 the game's on, but yeah, can't add the mods there
I was delaying my fight against the Githyanki ambush in Act 2 until the patch dropped to see the new legendary action, but apparently my Lae'Zel is super overpowered because she easily killed the "boss" from a Surprise round without letting her take a single action. I was only lvl 8 and they're all lvl 9 but my Eldritch Knight Lae'Zel does ridiculous damage with the Soulbreaker GS, Strange Conduit ring, Magic Weapon spell, Great Weapon Master feat, 20 Strength, and the Karabasan's Poison coating. She crit 4 times in a row for 40+ damage per hit. I suppose I got lucky the boss failed the save against Karabasan's right away.
Late into Act 2 I was still debating on using tadpoles or not, but just yesterday I decided to use 2 of them for Luck of the Far Realms. I'm playing a sorcerer DUrge who is afraid of becoming a Mind Flayer and prefers to trust his own magic rather than accepting the Illithid corruption. As far as I remember I never used the (Illithid)(Wisdom) dialogue options during this playthrough so hopefully I can get a unique ending if I avoid tadpoles for the rest of the game.
Now I gotta see this new DUrge ending and start over to see all the new bosses legendary actions.
I have completed two playthroughs and have three more going strong in each of the three acts. Dont see myself playing anything but BG3 for the next year at leaat.
would be great to see review of your favorite mods as some point.
You know, for minor things like a photo mode patch, you could just use the RUclips community announcement/post feature.
Hopefully they will finish soon, I'm ready for my 2nd playthrough
Still haven't played BG3. They just keep on improving it and now there is mod support. It pays to be a patient gamer!
So excited for console and pc crossplay!
Larian are the best.
Have to wait till October for Mac and console
Cannot wait for honor rules in custom
Still annoyed that the polearm master bugs haven't been fixed, as best I can tell.
My understanding is that there may be engine limitations, otherwise I strongly suspect this would have been patched much earlier, but yeah definitely annoying.
Would love to see some mod spotlight, something that add good content and potentially make it harder than honour mode, it isnt that big of a Challenge once you know the game
Thanks to the insane heat waves I had to stop playing Baldurs Gate 3 in the middle of the second act. My PC would melt itself and set me on fire in this weather if I tried to play in BG. Thanks weather. Now I will have some updated thingies.
ty
I wonder if we will eventually get skyrim quality mods
Patched RUclips Jazz 🎶
Are all the mods currently on Nexus going to be listed in the in-game mod manager? If not, how will those authors get their mods into the game?
Gronk!
Hope all the nexus mods authors would spend some time to import their mods into this tooldkit
gonna have to try that mod "bushy karlach"
It's been a long, long time since I've made any mods for a game (they were called plug-ins for that game) but, with the toolkit's release, I'll try it out.
they still need to add a fast forward combat
There I am just wishing they'd allow me to get a hold of the Luminous Armour after missing it :')
I don’t understand the mod systems almost all the mods I use are not in the in game mod store. 5E spells, Artificer class, etc
First non bot! lol
It's getting out of hands these days, and on literally every channel ....and these are not even the worst ones :(
'bout time YT really acts on this plague.
we fight!
That’s exactly what a bot would say.
@@ArchieBunker11 Ya got me there 😅

How do you even use the modding tool kit? I supposedly downloaded it, Steam SAYS it's in my library and I have it checked in the properties for the game but all I see when I start the game is the Mod Manager in the list of things I can do. I can not find a way to start the tool kit.
Just so people are aware and not disappointed - mods in BG3 are fairly limited. Don't expect anything apart from cosmetics/items and class/mechanics stuff. Modding tools are not on the same level as, let's say, Neverwinter Nights or Solasta, where you could create entirely new locations and stories. Quests and editing existing locations are sadly out of scope for this. I guess it has to do with Hasbro/WOTC guidelines, as they mentioned it in the statement some time ago.
I was expecting mods to be similar to what Skyrim offers on console. Thats fine tho, at least we getting something new at least.
@@medalgearsalad1419 I am 95% confident that more advanced tools would be released by Larian if they could, but ultimately it was blocked by Hasbro to avoid people recreating every 5e adventure module in BG3, so they can make more games in the future. But of course, it is speculation (knowing Hasbro/WOTC, it's highly likely).
Do you think it will be possible to allow a larger party on the console version given these modding limitations?
@@stevemiller1085 I have no idea, I don't intend to play BG3 in the near future and I don't much care for either mods for it or mods on consoles. I think there was a workaround on how to allow for bigger party on console (you needed someone hosting a session on PC with that mod and invite the console player).
Can’t backpack steal from merchants now
Ty Mort. Not a bot... Obviously
For the algorithm!
will there be custom-maps? i want more content. is this possible with mods?
I haven't keep up with BG3 news for a while. Do they now have GM Mode/Editor like the ones they implemented in DOS2?
We wish
Unfortunately no.
Is the evil cinematics only for the ending or did they also add more cinematics to mid playthrough choices?
I play on ps5, so I have a question. Does this patch fixes the bug where sometimes your attack animation wont play/show?
Looks like us on consoles will have to find a way to avoid the entire internet for a month for spoilers till the console patch release 😅
I might be slow, but to be clear: I'm in a Dark Urge playthrough. Will the new endings be available for me or is it only for new playthroughs after patch 7 has dropped?
As long as youve updated youll get them yeah
Oh crap, I've been using those illthid powers a lot. oh Nooo! But I'm totally not evil...I should be ok then hopefully.
Is split screen coop finally playable on PC? I know crashing in coop is a common issue. In my case the game crashes after an hour and then couple minutes. Reinstalling it allowed us to play for another hour and then it is back to crashing. Game is great in single player, a worthy BG sequel, but advertising split screen coop as a feature when it is not working for so long is messed up.
It was in the patch notes, but I havent tried it to see if its actually sorted out
When mods eventually make their way to console, do we know if they will be able to be used in a coop playthrough? My only experience with mods is single player games so sorry for the probably dumb question.
My understanding is that everyone needs them installed but otherwise it should work
If using the Honour ruleset in custom mode (i dont want permadeath) how would you say the difficulty of the game compares to dos2 ? I know you had some critiques as you found the game too easy at release, i’m curious if now it’s satisfyingly complex.
BG3 can be way easier than DoS2 by comparison if you know all the best items, feats, etc... Because there are so much broken builds and mechanics in the game. It's not "easy" but it's an information game : the more info you know, the easier it is.
@@benjaminfeireisen20 dos2 honour mode is pretty easy tbh, it doesn't really change all that much from the base difficulty besides some more stats on enemies as far as I remember. I'd say bg3 might be harder because dos2's action economy is a lot easier to break than the d&d action economy (with the haste changes in honour mode at least). Although a lot of bg3's early fights can be somewhat circumvented by just placing some explosive barrels strategically lol.
If each major fight needs a different approach to strategy then it’s cool, at least for non min maxed builds.
It is very easy
The easiness of the system is an inherent flaw baked into D&D 5E, and thus the only way to truly do much about the difficulty in a meaningful way would be to overhaul the system entirely.
Have they added text chat yet for coop?
Bhaaldur's Gate 3
Did you forget a certain bard or are you avoiding spoilers?
Seemed like it would ruin the moment to mention it here
❤
I hope Larian will officially announce when they're done with the game because having new endings added 1 year later is not like a little balance or bug fix here and there. It needs a enhanced/definitive edition like the 2 DOS.
Why? They are not like paid dlcs xd
@@arenas4641 some people like playing games that are finished and won't get significant changes that give FOMO of not waiting more
@@cauthrim4298they can just... play it again. Its not like you can see all the new stuff in a single playthrough anyway
@@bobertastic6541 we are talking dozens of hours per playthrough games here, not everyone has the time or, more realistically, motivation to replay all that repeatedly
@@cauthrim4298 once again, I there is no way to see most of this on a single play through anyway, even if you only do one, especially considering how the vast majority go for good endings on their first playthroughs.
Would be nice if they added mods to console :/ Plenty of other console games have mod support
They already plan to in a few months, just takes longer since they were generally pc focused as a company
Mods are going to be huuuuge
The only thing I want is for companions to properly be part of conversations when playing multiplayer. Sadly this patch didn't address that.
There was the PWotR patch yesterday.....
Yeah and I covered that too

Larian have set another HIGH point LVL on demonstration to create a AAAAA game, with great work and passion. A lot of developer must learn from his group of people.
