Idk why but the "I may have accidentally inhaled some weed" part cracked me up. And those Fearless books look very useful for travel sketching! Makes me think of a Traveller's notebook with their elastic binding system but adapted for sketching. Very cool.
I have adapted a travelers notebook for watercolor, I can recommend!

Another gorgeous video Teoh. I'm not sure if you realize the tremendous gift you give to so many people around the world that can't attend these gatherings. Oh, and if you're at Central Station Amsterdam, you could take the free ferry to the other side (1-2 minutes), and right where you arrive is a nice spot on the grass to look back at the water and the C.S. on the other side.
Although I assume you'll be visiting Utrecht in the next few days, and perhaps Zaanse Schans (Zaandam) and perhaps Alkmaar (cheese market on friday morning, although I believe they now also have it on tuesday night ...)
Public transport is very expensive in Holland though, and so is eating outside.
Very cool! So nice to hear folk talk about their work, techniques and how to carry paper! Keep posting them 😎

Thank you for these videos! I visited Amsterdam some years ago before I started learning to paint, so I hope to go back one day and sketch there also. It is a lovely city.
So good to see someone from Kuching and Singapore. Both are my home towns as it were. Left Kuching in '63 and living in the UK. Also to congratulate Teoh for his excellent reviews of graphics drawing tablets. Very professional and thorough reviews without all the padding. Would gladly meet up if you ever came this way.

It’s so funny to see you walk through the street where I live! Thank you for posting this video, I hope you have a wonderful time here. Enjoy the symposium, wish I’d known about urban sketching and about this symposium earlier. Would have been a great opportunity, since it’s sort of in my back yard.
Oh and in case you didn’t notice: on your way from your hotel to the Hub you pass the Rembrandt house, where Rembrandt worked and lived. He was an urban sketcher avant la lettre, if you see all the portaits and landscapes and little sketches he made. If you have time, the museum that’s there now is worth a visit!

Was the scenery a little more colorful, or were you just a bit more mellow? inhale deeply....glad you are covering the convention...

hello Teoh, welcome to my homeland! Hope you ´ll have a wonderful time in A ´dam! I am from Rotterdam, quite different city though;) , they are not to be compared. Rotterdam has a modern centre build after the bombardement inWW2. Enjoy and have fun, I am watching all your youtube videos, like them sooo much!!!
Rotterdam is amazing. Incredible architecture but it doesn’t feel Dutch like Amsterdam does, of course due to the bombing in WWII. But R’dam is gorgeous with the Erasmus Bridge and the Maas .... beautiful.
Such fun to see you walking around my hometown! I know it's an older video, but it just appeared on my homepage today. A friend of mine, who is an illustrator, actually lives on the little square by the church. I think she put a picture of some urban sketchers taken from her balcony on Instagram at the time.

Hope Singapore lets you back into the country with all the trace amounts of weed you’re inhaling! :-) (I still have the paper in my passport from Singapore where it informs me that drugs are punishable with death).

That guy who is drawing with twigs and ink reminds me of Eriy who drew three coloring books with only toothpicks and ink. I didnt catch the name of the guy you are filming but if its him, awesome, if not its still nice to see this method and patient talent.

I'll be in Amsterdam this Friday. Unfortunately I'm not able to join the symposium because it's all sold out, but I'll probably join one of the walks and I'll definitely check out the art supplies market! I can't wait to meet some of the other urban sketchers! :D

costs quite a bit to get out to one of the events especially if not local who does the first panaramic sketch
I just love the history you tell about the building etc. you sketch but notices you label your sketches minimally. Do you take notes for yourself so you'll remember the history later?
When you sketch, you can remember better. But remembering numbers without writing is difficult no matter what. lol
