The music of Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
You have probably already found the well-known Fairport Convention version of 'Who Knows Where the Time Goes', which was composed by Sandy Denny.
However you may not have heard this (BBC recorded) version - just Sandy Denny, accompanying herself on a 12-string guitar: ruclips.net/video/jsqztvHIB9Y/видео.html

Sandy had that beautiful evocative voice that epitomised the folk sound of her era. But seriously there are many many stunningly great singers and singer songwriters And beautiful songs of every era & generation when you step away from the purely commercial pop driven music market. Heavens! You wont be disappointed to hear wonderful variations of folk traditions and other forms of music around even more again in 2022 ..if you look around and listen a bit …

@@annanutherthing4373 Hello Anna, Well I do, to some extent!!.My neice (whose like my daughter) plays the fiddle and has been playing in folk bands for years. We were drenched in music as a family.
I've listened to versions of the classic folk ballads as the decades have passed. Still, in my opinion, there is no other non classical voice to match her expression, technique, phrasing etc. All instinctive. Richard Thompson said once that apart from Dusty, he'd never heard another female voice to match her blend of expression and technique.
And without name dropping (!!) I saw Dave Swarbrick and Martin Carthy, not long before Swarbs died. I spoke to him in the break. I expressed the above opinion - that (apart from Dusty) she had no peer, and he thought for a second and said , " Yep, I think you're right"
I don't believe all generations are equally gifted; that post war generation were exceptional. But in the end music is personal taste and exploration. .As long as we keep playing and singing..and exploring!!! All the best.

The important thing is how we live our lives, by enjoying life, realising we are lucky enough to have been born as millions did not make it, experiencing great music, being in awe of nature and the universe and striving not to harm others.

I saw Sandy Denny twice with Fairport- 69 and 75 (with Dave Mattacks rather than Bruce Rowlands on drums) - and once with Fotheringay, when they played The Sea in a torrential downpour. Such a wonderful voice.

Amazing voice. I was (and still am) amazed by Annie Haslam. Though truncated, This is just as incredible.
