To this day, Billy's switch big heel down Carlsbad is one of the most picture perfect executions of that trick. My original inspiration to learn said trick.

Who ever directed and edited "Ride The Sky" is a legend. This video is the best. I still get goosebumps every time I revisit this film. I hope hes or shes still working on skate films.

i think i rewatched that part over 1000 times for last 10 years.......
When I started skating, the Carlsbad gap was like the biggest thing going, a proving ground of sorts. Now, that shit looks comparatively small. Crazy.
If this came out today, it would be an instant classic.

Billy and both of his parents worked at brunswick orange bowl in the city of orange california back in the late 90s early 00's. The same bowling alley that my parents and both of my sisters worked at

I'd like to return to the CLASSICS
Man i remember watching this part, bc my friend owned it, he was all about gilbert and his part, which was pretty damn good itself, but i remember my reaction to him not thinking this part was mindblowing at the time. I hadnt seen too many parts where every trick is pretty much $$$ on $$$ lands, spots, and trick selection. Nothing like a "style" that says im not even trying, even when we know hes busting his ass. Its why i love your raw files series as much as classics.

Gosh this was such a simple time in skating, things were easy, you went to contests to get noticed, not no Instagram bullshit, the traditional way, or a by sponsor me tapes, I bet kids skating now don't even know what a sponsor me tape is
The filming on the ollie 1:00 really did it justice. Sometimes filmers can choose a shitty angle and make big hucking tricks seem underwhelming

I'm fairly certain that last trick @4:00 is Bourn's hall at UC Riverside. I attended undergrad there and it's fucking MASSIVE. From that angle it's hard to appreciate how huge it its.
