Your videos have helped me learn more about Glowforge and Silhouette than any other videos. I am so thankful I found you! I used your code and got a GF! I'm having a blast!
Just tried to do some cutting on my glowforge and was unsuccessful due to the settings. I immediately came in and looked you up to find the answers to all my questions and concerns. Going to try again tomorrow and see how it works!! Just made a large purchase from Design Bundles and was excited to get something started from them.....but your information always is very helpful to me! Thanks.....
I'd love to hear you explain how to add new fonts into silhouette. Im having trouble doing so, and you're great at explaining things. Love your videos!
Hey Lisa, Thank you for this video - I wanted to ask if you know if saving a studio file as an SVG will open up accurately in illustrator? I basically want to do exactly what you have spoken about - design in Studio but cut from AI? I don't want to purchase the biz addition before knowing it will definitely work ( I've had ongoing bug issues with Studio for years so I don't have a lot of faith although the functionality itself is great) - I need to continue using my cameo but the same files need to work for a new cutter as well which is more industrial. Thank you : )
@@LisaPottsDesigns Thank you so much, that's really kind of you - I'm pretty sure it will work too but silhouette has so many bugs that I want to be convinced before purchasing anything so that really helps : )
Hi Lisa, i dont know why when i save my svg, it doesn't seem to be like a normal file, as it has the firefox logo (its still a .svg) but then i import it into cricut it imports as a read outlined cut version only, i don't get the option for print and cut. I get a message before i upload that says 'this uploaded SVG contained the following items that are not supported. Unsupported image type'
Hello I'm very new to using the glowforge and silhouette studio so please bear with me. I downloaded my first digital file and now I can't get it to upload onto my glowforge. Sorry not sure what I'm doing wrong. I transferred it into Silhouette studio business edition and saved as a svg to desktop and the file is saved under chrome and is blank!!
Hi Jane! SVG files that are purchased from Silhouette Studio cannot be exported out. I recommend getting files from places like Design Bundles, or if you really need it, trace the SVG file and export again. I don't recommend this for anything you're selling, since this will violate the terms of use.
When I get the pop down to save as a certain file the only options that come up are the silhouette files, no svg, png or anything. I have the business edition. What would cause me not to have the other options? Thanks in advance.
I love your channel, thank you so much for sharing this. I have over a 1000 designs saved in my Silhouette Studio Business Edition (cloud). Is there a way for me to bulk save the individual files as an SVG? (I'm familiar with backing up the files in bulk)
Nope! The license is linked to your code. Sign into your account at Silhouetteamerica.com and you can deactivate the code on your old one and you can put it on your new one!
I just downloaded the Business addiction. The only options I have to save is Silhouette V3, Silhouette V2 and GSP. There is not a SVG option. What am I doing wrong?
You just need to activate business edition! Go to Silhouette, file, activate license key, and put in the license key you received when you purchased business edition.
Great tutorial. Can you do one showing how to design an svg from separate jpg or png files Having trouble joining multiple items and then doing cut s and engrave
@@LisaPottsDesigns That is so sweet of you to answer. Thank you so mu h. I have tried tracing but when I go to Save as Save to hard drive Name file Click on Svg It still comes up with dashed lines. I HAVE BUSIESS EDITION BUT IT IS NOT LETTING ME SAVE AS SVG FILE? iT SAYS STUDIO 3 STUDIO 2 OR GSV?? NO SVG IS AVAILABLE TO SAVE? WHY AND HOW DO I FIX THIS?
You probably need to activate Business Edition. Go to your Silhouette Studio, file, activate license code and put in the license code you got with your business edition purchase.
You need Business Edition for the SVG export: Silhouette Studio Business Edition (Scroll down and choose Basic to Business) ➡ lisapotts.info/silhouette
Help! When I save as an SVG it says there is an Export Restriction...it will display in the exported file as dotted line segments. Has anyone had this happen?
Ok...I saw that you need to trace the design first...BUT even when I trace my design, it still comes out with dashed lines when exported as an SVG. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong...can anyone help?
Hi Christine, sorry about my delay. If you have dotted lines, that's a Silhouette SVG that they keep proprietary to their software. You aren't able to export it.
I swear every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new!
I'm so glad!
That was the best tutorial thank you!
Thank you so much for watching!

Hi Lisa! So glad you are doing this tutorial. I just bought Silhouette business a few weeks ago. Perfect timing for me...Thank you! ❤️
You are so welcome!
Hi Lisa, you just answered my question... I love your clear and informative style of teaching!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you, so informative. Will continue to watch for more tutorials in this Silhouette program.
More to come!
Thanks
Welcome!
Going to try and learn the silhouette software sometime. We have business edition but I just use my Corel. Thanks!
Feel free to ask questions if needed!

Hi! I am 99% sure it should be fine. I have a couple free cut files on my website. Try grabbing one of those and opening in Illustrator!

Did that file happen to have anything in there from the Silhouette library? Those files can't be exported out of Silhouette Studio.

does anyone know if you need business edition to save files as svg png and so on?
Yes, you do. You can find a link for it in the description.

You may need to activate business edition. Go to the menu, then help. You should see a command to activate an upgrade edition!

Hmmm, I have never seen that, but I would reach out to Silhouette support just to be safe!
Looking forward to more tutorials! I do have business edition... but wondering, do you need to buy a new license if you upgrade your computer?

Great suggestion! I'll add it to my list.
I am desperate to learn how to use an actual silohuette library files in my glowforge without the dashed lines. Help! I love you videos!
Hi Mona! Files purchased from Silhouette cannot be exported as SVG. You will need to trace the design if you want to convert it out.

why doesnt my drop down menu have the option for svg
You need the Business Edition upgrade. You can find a link for it in the description.

Same cost came up if I went to their website without your link!!! Why do you people mislead!
Choose the dropdown for Designer to Business. The upgrade is $50 from Designer to Business.
I always save them to my harddrive but now they are gone i can't find them. Do you know in what mao i can look?
Try searching for a Silhouette Studio temporary folder!
