I am a BMW first timer. Have always turn to RUclips to get ideas on what I need to do to maintain pay my vehicles. This video has truly given me an even more level of ease when it comes to working on the BMW. Thanks for the outstanding work you doing and the simplicity of your videos
Taken over responsibility of a 2008 BMW 328i and learning about maintaining and replacing broken and missing parts. This video was very helpful, so I can do this myself.
Also, while the drain plug is out, you can sacrifice a little fresh oil and pour some the filter housing, and let that kinda rinse out any impurities. But that's only if you're a baller like me hahaha
Waiting on parts! Soon though. I'm going to try for this week but no promises. Also my new transmission jack hasn't showed up yet and I gotta build that. Thanks for watching anyways though! :D
The bottom is usually covered with a plastic skid plate, but there is a access point, that you can open to get to the drain plug. So no need to take the skid plate off Edit: the dipstick is digital, you have to check it on the dash
BMW dealership is having a deal you give them $225 one-time fee and is good for 3 years oil change I went for that cuz in Connecticut an oil change for myself and 60 to $80 but at a mechanic anywhere from 112 to $200 so I went to the dealership instead now I don't have to go underneath my car for the next 3 years cuz it's free with a one-time payment
Naw bro all you need is a jack and jack stands. You don’t really need that special tool as long as you get it pretty tight with your hands it should be good
Universal Oil Filter channel-locks will work fine. The Jacking Blocks that fit like a Lego brick into the jacking points cost a couple of bucks from Temu... Delivery within the week.
Lol just got charged $150 for an oil change. Yes looks very hard, lots of specialty tools, and takes super premium oil huh? Haha that shop is full of shit
Hey now, sometimes you drive what you can get for cheap. And these are cheap for a reason. The maintenance costs are sky high. BUT if you do your own maintenance it really isn't bad. Thanks for watching Robert!
BMW resell value is really low due to their reputation but the n52 is one it’s most reliable engines and maintanence costs are practically the same as any other car if you do everything on your own. Don’t forget transmission fluid tho, they should be done more frequently on beamers like every 20-30k or 2 years.
@@bilalahmed2123 especially if you don’t actually go to bmw for service and repairs, they will up charge you 100 for labor alone on an oil change and also triple any part costs. If you research their part manufacturers you can get the oe factory part ridiculouslessly cheaper than what they’d charge.
No dealership is charging $300 for an oil change on a 2007-2011 BMW lol. I work at a BMW dealership. Oil changes for ordinary customers are about $100-$120. Good video tho

Is the oil drain at the bottom of your pan rather than on the side like this right??

I’m a first time bmw owner and I’m so surprised how easy this is
Everyone made it seem like it’s impossible
Everything is just nuts and bolts :) Thanks for watching!

Great video, the links are really helpful. I want to do this myself and your video taught me how plus saved 💵. Thank you 👍
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
you can always check the oil through the screen

Very well put together vid bro
Thanks for watching!
GREAT VIDEO!!! THANKS!!
Great video but most people don't have access to a lift, theres about a Qt left in pan if you use ramps.
My oil filter came with 3 rings, two that u used, and a extra coper one that idk where it goes, Any help or tips
Copper one goes on the drain plug as a replacement washer. Thanks for watching!
Great thank you
What weight of oil how many quarts and oil filter size PLEASE
All in the description. Thanks for watching!
Why wouldn't you drain the oil first, Then change the filter?
Just asking because that's what I've always done
i believe it needs the airflow so the oil falls out.
falls out quicker i should say
@@Tizymakgamingit will work with the engine oil cap too
Kirkland 5w-30 works ?
Yeah that would be fine. Thanks for watching!
@5:28, made in China ? Supposed to use a German Filter. Did you check if the oil was BMW spec ?
i want to let all you knw that my dad got that oil filter cap off with one hand.

Yeah, that ridiculous shroud.
And they're 10mm. After the 3rd time, I left it off.
Do you need to jack the car up to release the oil?
No, I just can't fit. Thanks for watching!

Easy and fun? Possibly if you have the special tool to remove the oil filter, a car lift, and special jack pads for the lift. Other then that....

Maintenance costs are quite reasonable, if you take care of the car !
I have one myself with oil changes every 5000km with German filter and oil.
