Thank you Michael for your clear and simple method of instruction. It is very useful and accurate. I have been in school for a couple of years and I frequently view your videos in support of my lessons.
Actually, timbales is a instrument that I really love. In most of the bands that I play, I play timbales. But most of the video's I make are about congas en Brasilian rhythms. I think I'll make some more video's about timbales and of course, I hope you will enjoy them too.
great video michael. the only time i've seen, heard timbales in action w/o cow bell, cymbals in a recording is in johnny pacheco's first album on the Fania Label titled "Mi Nuevo Tumbao". It should be interesting to note that Fania was Pacheco and Jerry Masuci's record company and that album was a catalyst that would catapult the company to where it got.
michael i have this method, it is awesome. I studied these exercises, but i didn't learn the rhythms of the book, can you show for us in other video? Thank you
Very good, Michael. I think timbalitos are played 95% of the time on the heads (before the montuno or mambo section), while timbales are played mostly outside of the heads. My suggestion you could change the title "Timbales exercises" for "Timbalitos exercises". What do you think about the timbalitos playing of this video: 7jghWO9LPJk
