They made the guns look too small.

You know, now that you've mentioned it, you're right. I'll keep that in mind to see if that carries on throughout and not just the early game weapons, but they do look small!

@@Woodhouse204 😅 yeah I didn't notice before when I saw the trailers but I remember in the SNES original and the DS ports the weapons always were big and pronounced and detailed and made the mechs look really cool, but on these new remake clips the guns look scaled down and tiny compared to the mechs. I hope they patch the game to fix it.

I think it is weird at the lack of polish/quality from the front mission 1st remake to what we saw in the front mission 2 remake trailer. FM2 has some smooth animations, especially the way the wanzers slide in combat compared to the screen split in FM1st Remake. I get that they are making the 1st one a bit more true to the original game but i feel like that could have left that just for classic mode. Personally, I think a port of the DS/SNES version would have been a better idea. I think the pixel art look better than the FM1stRemake.... I'm still gonna play it but i just feel like they couldve put more effort into the 1st remake? I just seems so lackluster compared the the 2 remake :/ I just dont understand why even remake it if they are making such a lackluster version. It looks like it has absolutely no love put into it IMO.

The whole process of development seems to have been odd in general. I agree that it does seem to be fairly 'authentic' homage to the original, seeing as there isn't much that sets it apart from the mechanics in the DS port - aside from the visuals and camera control.
But whilst I like Pixel art as much as the next person, I don't think they could have justified working on the project if they didn't at least move over to polygons and full 3d spaces. Of course the quality of those textures is not particularly high, I would imagine remaking all of those assets in 3d would not have been simple and I wouldn't be surprised if they will be reusing a whole bunch of them for 1-3.
I understand your frustrations, but I don't think it would have been possible to have the hundreds of weapons and parts made into proper HD versions, Pixel or Polygon, and still had the game be less than full price, and making a full price game for what is regrettably not the biggest franchise in the world doesn't make good business sense.

It seems like with these they are mostly mirroring the original releases of FM 1 & 2. Front Mission 2 was a pretty high budget Front Mission game, especially for that era. Front Mission 2 looked higher budget than even Front Mission 3 did.

@@CRedd9830 ahhh I actually didn’t know this. - ive played rm1 on ds, 3 on ps1 and 4 on ps2. Ive never played 2 so that is very interesting. My borther seems to be enjoying fm1r. Ill pick it up after finals end at my university.
