How could you not be in awe in that heavenly environment. Thank you for taking us with you and being our guide. I bet you were glad to have the rest stops along the way. I hope to make it there someday.
I can’t travel because of my disability and material situation. BUT. So many nice people film their journeys nowadays ! It’s obviously not the same as being there, but it’s so much better than only seeing photos. The commentary was so interesting, thank you !!! Also, THANK YOU for having real subtitles.
Love your videos! Especially enjoyed this longer style video. You clearly have so much knowledge and insight, I hope you continue to share it with us! Also, will you ever come out with audiobook versions of your books? Your narration is great, and I think it’d be a great format since you’re such a good story teller!
Baba-sugi ,please rest assured,Jiji-sugi is doing well.☘️🙏 I loved watching this long form video ,fun change. Hope you enjoyed making this form of content as well ,Kyota-San. Thankyou.
I felt that I was hiking while watching the video. Easy for me to connect since I did a couple of hiking and mountain climbing activities here in Mexico so far. I'll make sure to do this trail on my next visit in Japan, I'm sure :). Thank you very much, Kyota. Looking forward to buy Folk Tales of Japan.
4:38 I’m patting myself on the back for having figured out the kanji at the beginning of the video. Oh my goodness, I want to be there so much. I love nature, and I love forests, and just looking at it so far into the video I am filled with warm fuzzies and a deep longing. This is what I want to go to Japan to see.
The cherry is Yamagata's famous food! If you go to Haguro San by car, from Yamagata city, you'll pass "Cherryland", and I won't explain what that is (they have ice cream).
The area at the top with all the identical little shrines…a kind of “glamping”ground for the gods? (Is that a real word in English? I’ve been in Japan for quite a while…) But seriously, I love the concept of God/gods residing, fleetingly, in elements of nature. (Trees, rivers, sunlight filtering down to the forest floor…). I actually live not far from the Kumano Kodo trail system, but have been too lazy to do a proper trek there…thanks for the inspiration!
I did a week's trip around Tohoku in the summer, including Zao Onsen in Yamagata but I didn't make it to Haguro-san unfortunately. Darn it, I suppose it just means I'll have to go back! 😆
Thank you for taking us with you to this nice visit 🥰🙏🏻. Everything is so beautiful. I hope I can go to a place like this or simply just to Japan some day.
Looks like an amazing place to bask in. I only recently learned that the moogles of Final Fantasy got their name as a portmanteau of 土竜 (mole) and 蝙蝠, (bat).
Are those the famous japanese redwood trees? Im from california and have always loved the redwood and sequoia forests, seeing their japanese cousins has been on my bucket list for a long time 😍
It’s really interesting! I often visit Niigata during my trip to Japan, so I would love to visit Haguro-san too. Does the mountain have any no-climb period / months?
One little issue with a small part of your commentary. It happens near the point when you are advising people to check beforehand where scenic location will fall along their train route and to reserve their seats accordingly. Then, you remind us that one should be polite to people they're traveling with by offering them the window seat with the comment about letting your "girlfriend" have the window seat. I just feel like that was not the best way to say it. You should've simply said "traveling companion" which would've been more inclusive of everyone. With that term, you could speak to the majority of people who either travel with friends or family or those travelling with colleagues in their professional or business capacities, as well as the "travelling with girlfriend" category. Using the term "travelling companions" would've been appreciated by the last category as well as the others because they'd feel included regardless of the gender or the number of the romantic associates they choose to bring along on the trip. I understand that "girlfriend this, girlfriend that" has become ubiquitous in the current internet lingo, but I personally feel that educational content should follow a higher, more inclusive and socially-sensitive standard of etiquette and be more audience-focused than those vlogs type content which, by its very nature, are supposed to be author-centric and can get away with lower standards of etiquette. I believe that, a lot of people including myself, would really appreciate it if you could keep a wider spectrum of people in mind when preparing your scripts. Such little improvements would make your videos even kinder and comfortable than they already are.
How could you not be in awe in that heavenly environment. Thank you for taking us with you and being our guide. I bet you were glad to have the rest stops along the way. I hope to make it there someday.
I hope you’ll make a visit some day ☺️✨✨✨
Oooohhh, that little mole ❤
I cannot believe my luck 🥹✨
@ A valuable encounter, indeed 😊
It was nice to “join” you on this journey.
I’m glad you liked it ☺️✨✨

Thank you for watching it! I’m glad I could share the experience ☺️
And thanks very much for acknowledging the work that went into the subtitles 😂!
*writes on the list* Well, I do intend to visit Japan next year...
Edit: I loved the video. I wouldn't mind watching more of these.
Please consider if you’re planning a long stay ☺️✨!
@@kyotako1372 I've been accumulating my vacation time, so I have over a month to visit Japan. Even that is too short of a time. :/
I loved it! ❤ Kyota San, you make learning so entertaining; I'm having a complete different perspective on Japanese culture.😊
That’s great to hear ☺️❤️❤️❤️
This was so much fun! Thank you for bringing us along ❤
I’m glad you enjoyed it ☺️!
The mole was so cute : ‘ )
😍😍😍
Wonderful stuff. Japan is one of the most beautiful countries and, luckily, its people appreciate that.
The fear of nature and appreciation for it interestingly go together ☺️✨!

I started climbing mountains this year too, easier ones like this, to start with ☺️! I hope you enjoy reading Folk Tales of Japan ✨✨

I’m so happy to hear you felt the at way 🥹. Nature has a lot of joy to offer ✨✨
The cherry is Yamagata's famous food! If you go to Haguro San by car, from Yamagata city, you'll pass "Cherryland", and I won't explain what that is (they have ice cream).
Watched mostly because I saw 'mole' in the contents list 😂 love the cute little guy! And great commentary of your hike!
Mole-san deserves a special place in media 😂✨
I loooove this video format! Really enjoyed watching this, hopefully I can visit that place irl someday 😢 Thank you!!
I’m glad you felt that way 🥹✨

Oh how I envy you for living close to Kumanokodo 🥹!!
Yes glamping is a word that is used in normal North American English. Not sure if it’s officially been added to the language or a dictionary.
8:36 you passed another marking here. 上村?
8:42 this mark just looks like a footprint to me. w
Thanks for sharing!
Oh wow you have really good eyes!!
Oooh so beautiful!!! I’ll definitely visit once I move to Japan
Also, I’m loving this video format, I hope for more soon if you can!!!
I did a week's trip around Tohoku in the summer, including Zao Onsen in Yamagata but I didn't make it to Haguro-san unfortunately. Darn it, I suppose it just means I'll have to go back! 😆
Tohoku in yet another summer sounds like a good idea to me 😆!!

Enjoyed the trip! Very entertaining and informative Kyota-san!!
Thank youuuu 🥹✨✨
Thank you for taking us with you to this nice visit 🥰🙏🏻. Everything is so beautiful. I hope I can go to a place like this or simply just to Japan some day.
Wishing you the same 🤩🙏✨!!
@kyotako1372 ありがとうございます😊🙏🏻
That other guy was like “ on your left” 😂. This is so cool. I hope to visit one day.
☺️👍✨✨
I love how much japan loves puns
Looks like an amazing place to bask in.
I only recently learned that the moogles of Final Fantasy got their name as a portmanteau of 土竜 (mole) and 蝙蝠, (bat).
Kyota! I wish you told me you were in town :) Great video thank you!
Go Kyota Go!!!
☺️👍✨✨
Excellent thank you..
I’m glad you liked it ☺️✨
For now I'm satisfied with the Takaosan, but I'll keep it in mind for the future 😀
Definitely 🤩✨!
Thanks for the video! Have you been to any of Inari's shrines?
Are those the famous japanese redwood trees? Im from california and have always loved the redwood and sequoia forests, seeing their japanese cousins has been on my bucket list for a long time 😍
The redwood of America is surely a lasting memory from when I lived there briefly ☺️✨✨
@kyotako1372 yay long live the big trees 😍 I live in the desert now, our trees are just little guys
1:34 I mean, with food like that, who would want to pull out their phone before digging in?
I certainly couldn’t 😂😋✨
Thank you.
☺️✨👍👍
Thanks for introducing such a beautiful place! An unrelated question: your backpack looks cool. Can you share the brand/name?
it’s a Montbell backpack ☺️✨!
Thank you for sharing that experience! That was a beautiful video to start my day with. Am I correct in thinking that Hagurosan means Mr. Blackwings?
Thank you for watching! It’s like Mount Black Wing ☺️
It’s really interesting! I often visit Niigata during my trip to Japan, so I would love to visit Haguro-san too.
Does the mountain have any no-climb period / months?
I believe the higher mountains, Gassan, is closed for autumn/winter, usually closed starting late October ☺️
7:45
And then jijisugi become sad-sugi
2:50
Bro you said sပiငide before that so i misread suiden as sပiငide

No like in 1 min. Bro fell off.
