Really well made review. Well made. Informative without being too in your face showy. Hope you go places mate. Well done indeed. Made me laugh though when you've mentioned not being bothered too much about RUclips app whilst I'm watching your RUclips video on my RUclips app. 👍
Haha, thank you Dougie. Really glad you enjoyed it. It's one of those things, life without Google sounds scary at first but for me once I gave it a go I realised I don't miss it and don't really need it.
For a 2years phone, the p20 pro is still a beast..
Yup, my P20 pro still runs fantastically
I had Samsung S6 Edge earlier and i liked it. It had quite good camera also. Last summer i bought P20 Pro what was little dissapointment on camera side. P20 Pro is way better in low light conditions but inside of house in bright day light and little dim conditions S6 took better pictures. Now i want better camera phone and im rly considering P40 Pro.
@@HTubeofficial does it have Google?
@@jeffharrods1549 the P20 Pro does and the P40 Pro doesn't.

Huawei p20pro the best phone I ever used! Battery, camera, phone screen size, performance, all just too nice for me!
Huawei P20 pro
Best phone ever I use in my life ❣️
Used p10 for 4 years n just changed it to p20 pro yesterday. It's so good n amazing. I will wait another 4 to 5 years to experience something new by huawei ☺.
Try Oneplus
Cheers mate this video is very helpful as I'm looking to upgrade to p40 pro from my p20 pro
I'm glad you enjoyed it Sam, as I said the P20 Pro was my personal phone and loved it. But the P40 Pro really does offer so much and I didn't even cover the 5G aspect of AI Golden snap which is super cool. If you have questions about any particular apps ect please do feel free to ask and I'm more than happy to help 😊
I'm literally about to order a P40, this video was incredibly helpful.
Oo nice, are you coming from a P20 or another device? I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful
Get some Food, Get a drink and buckle in... love it.. Great video guys. I had P20 Pro then P30 Pro and I haven't looked back at the P40 Pro. something no one mentions on the home screen is if you swipe your finger from left or right to the middle of the screen and keep it there for a few secs then you get a slider menu which is excellent ! try it!
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Huawei call that App multiplier and it is actually pretty cool, allowing for split screen multitasking with a 3rd floating page. I do enjoy that feature.
Great Vid! I'll stick with my p20 pro ✌🏻
This was a fab video and exactly what I was looking for. Have adored my Huawei p20 pro for nearly 2.5yrs, largely due to the awesome camera and I too love the over saturation and will miss it. Watched loads of vids on the p40 pro and pro plus, but what I really wanted to know was, is it worth it to upgrade and you've done a brilliant job explaining, comparing and convincing me to go for it!! Thanks so much, seems between web short cuts, phone clone and petal search etc the majority of my apps are going to be usable ie WhatsApp, Instagram, RUclips, Sky go etc.. Thanks again
Hello Belles, we are glad the video has helped you and you enjoyed it. As you said most of your apps will work no problem. I do everything on this that I used to do on my P20 pro which is cool. You can still get a saturation look on your photos if you want it. There is a mode called Vivid mode and this gives the same effect which by the sounds of it you will enjoy. Thank you for watching and hopefully we will see you again.
I'm still using my P9 due to my circumstances I can't upgrade right now. Your detailed video has answered my many questions and has really helped me to make a decision. I'm currently saving to buy the P40 and can't wait to get my hands on it. My P9 has served me well for quite a few years now but I feel I need an upgrade. Many thanks for this video.
Hello Steve, welcome to our channel and I'm glad this video has helped you. Myself beign a P20 Pro user wanted to try provide a video that stayed away from heavy tech/spec talk and look at it from a general day to day user. So in genuinely so happy this has helped. When you get your phone if you need any further advice or help HTube are more than happy to help as much as we can 😊
@@HTubeofficial Thank you that's very nice of you.
Ah, get the p40 lite then, you want have that amazing camera but its still really good or buy xiaomi
@@ErykTVP40 lite isn't in the same league as P40, it's a good phone but the P40 is something else. xiaomi is a good option but when it comes to camera and battery and performance the P40 range has done a fantastic job
The P20 PRO is awesome. Have mine for 3 years now. Runs as if it's brand new.
I have a P20 pro and love it. I love the the p40 series, the only reason I've decided to stick with my p20 rather than upgrading is the Google services. I hope these will be re-introduced in the future. If it had that I think me and many others would by it in an instant
Watching this video using my Pro 20 on December 20th 2020 and it still runs fantastically with a very good battery.
How much battery time it gives ?
@@1millionvines510 I can get approximately 10.5 hours use with very heavy usage of watching RUclips, using WhatsApp, Instagram etc. Light use will give me about 30 hours
I really enjoyed every single part of this video 🙏
Keep up the good work

Top video dude keep it up. Quick question, is the High Res camera mode available in both the main camera and ultra wide too?
I just ordered a Hauwei P20 Pro. Cannot wait for it to get here, I am currently using the Honor 8X. I love Hauwei/Honor phones.
You will really enjoy the P20 Pro 👌 it's a lovely device

Thank you 😍 this video has really opened my eyes. I am due an upgrade and was thinking I had to go back to Samsung however I am not so sure now 😊 you have definitely given me something to think about 😀 I love my P20 Pro and was just worried that I couldn't live without Google however I think I probably can 😯 as long as I have Instagram and Facebook and etsy to run my business 😍
Hi Angel, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Facebook and Instagram you'll be fine with. Etsy I can check for you and see if it works. If you go for a new Huawei step 1 is always phone Clone your information over and that will take the bulk of your apps over.
Looks very impressive. Currently using a P30 Pro. Eventually hope to upgrade.
Hi Dennis, the P30 Pro is still a really good device and I enjoyed using it a lot. My partner has a P30 Pro and she used to be an iphone user but loves it.
IDK if its already 2021 but i'm gonna buy the p20 pro. that's my dreamphone. And yeah still saving money jud to buy😅
Big thumbs up for the time lapse in the storm!
Thank you, had to shoot it twice due to faulty tripod and both days where pretty wet and windy 😂
So basically to resume, in hi res mode daytime, my p20 pro photos have more detail and a higher file size than the p40 pro. Which seems odd to me.
Nicely done mate 👌
The difference between the main selling point of these phones is massive.
Thanks for the vid.
Don't get this the wrong way, the moustache doesn't really fit the overall shape of your face 🤔 I'd definitely recommend experimenting around a bit ✌️
Hah thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. And I shaved it all off to grow somthing much shorter 👌 you should see it soon.
my p20 pro doesnt move like that when im doing a video while walking.
This is because you are recording in 1080p. The P20 Pro does not have video stabilisation when recording in 4k
From early beginning it was clear that the video is gonna be super-interesting, thank You!
Wow that's so kind of you to say. We are happy you enjoyed it. Do you have one or thinking of getting one?
@@HTubeofficial Actually I'm looking forward to P50 Pro next year, so excited for UnderDisplay front camera and new ultra-wide Cine lens with wider field of view. However, probably it won't come with Kirin 1000 SoC after the US chip ban, kinda disappointing moment...
Yes it's a fast changing environment at the moment for Huawei but from things I'm seeing on my own P40 Pro I can see they're working rounf to clock to make sure they come through the other side.
Underside front face camera will be amazing. It's rumoured the Mate range may have it 🤔
@@HTubeofficial Well, in my opinion Mate40 Pro won't come with UnderDisplay front cam, we'll se a small notch instead. Probably the first one is gonna be Honor Magic 3 and P50 Series to follow that way...
Good old Dover ,I live up the road in Deal! , How you u finding the app situation now 2 years after this video, has it improved at all? Cheers
Thanks for the very detailed and superb review! Only thing I have missed is a 1080p/30fps video from the P20 Pro, since it's the only option that is stabilized. 4K and 1080/60 are not, so the comparison of stabilization between the two phones was not really possible.
Great video mate please make Mate 20 vs mate 40 if possible.
Let me see what I can do bro, I currently have both devices so it can be done. What would you like to see?
@@HTubeofficial Thanks so much for the response man. I would love to see how the mate 20 has held up coming to 2021 and to know if it is still worth getting. I'm currently using mediapad m6 and mate 20 and I'm really loving the huawei ecosystem and to know how well the Mate series will hold up and how long it would last us that would be great. For me the mate 20 is still a very very good phone in 2020 but I would love to see how it holds up in this new year.
Thanks for the video it helps me alot. I like how u explained the difference between them.
I still use P20 Pro but I'm looking to buy a new phone. Can someone help me what to choose? Is P40 Pro still good choice?
Specifications for new phone are:
-OLED display
-Stereo speakers
-Telephoto camera (optical zoom)
-IR blaster (I'm so used to this feature on P20 pro that I don't know how can I live without it on new phone)
-RAM size, internal storage size, CPU, GPU to be like or better then P20 pro
I've had my P20 pro 2 years, still great. I Won't be changing to p40 pro.... The difference is minimal for the extra expense I'd have to pay. Plus no play store or RUclips..... No thx..
Great video 💪 i would love to buy a Huawei, but should i go for p 40 pro or p 30 pro?
This is a great question and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. As I said I would go for the P40 Pro it's really good for a few reasons. If you are happy using RUclips through a browser and saving it as a shortcut then there's no issues there. Most banking apps work but if they don't then until they do you can again use the browser feature to access them. I'm with Halifax and that app works via Phone Clone. If you have any particular apps, please do feel free to ask and I can try let you know if they work or what the work around is.

Great video and interesting on these phones. I own both Huawei p20 and p20pro and I'd say p20 is better than p20pro for its camera especially in low light. P20 is better for astrophotography than p20pro because I've tested both.
I'm getting Huawei p40pro very soon and I've seen what it can do.
Did you know you can get Google services on Huawei p40 and p40pro? RUclips videos showing you how to get Google on these phones. I've held a p40pro and checked its camera its very impressive.
P40pro being newer but p20pro still has plenty of life in it.
Huawei p20 is a nice size and has better camera than p20pro. I believe p20 should get more hype.
We all know Huawei is the best cameras in any smartphone and they keep improving them every year!
Long live Huawei!!!
I think p20 pro is better due to its black and white sensor. It has better colours. And video stabilization is artificially worse compared to p40pro.
This is the best video on RUclips
Thank you Rahul, that's very kind of you to say.
@@HTubeofficial you're very welcome
U did a good job on the video but there are still new users for phone like the p20 pro like most people can't afford a phone like the p40 Pro and in 2021 the p20 pro is still an amazing phone a definitely one of the best phones out there
congratulations for the review ... p40 pro can also be used well for point and shoot photos, or should you have some basics of photography?
the photos, from the main cam, however, seem to me quite different, too color? (compared to the wide angle)
thank you and greetings.
Hello Francesco, thanks to Huaweis EMUI and AI systems it makes for a pretty cool point and shoot. So it was actually capable of recognising, beach, sky, flowers, portrait and much more. It then adjusted the settings to give the best image. So if you don't know how to use Pro mode this is a great device.
@@HTubeofficial thanks for the quick reply ..... could it be used as a point and shoot even without AI? with that setting it seems to me that the colors are really saturated compared to reality .... thanks
@@ollie75io so the P20 Pro has a bit of over saturation. But the P40 Pro balances colour light very well. Even with AI off it's still a good point and shoot, it won't do auto detection for specific photos with AI off. What is it you won't it to be able to do?
Great vid mate, very informative.. Planning to upgrade from my p20 pro.. Now i'm decided. Cheers!
Your welcome Philip, and thank you for watching. If you have any questions or need any help please do feel free to ask 😊
Well its midlle of 2022 i just changed the battery on my p20 pro (lasted since late 2018 and got swollen last week althouhgt i did not even notice performance loss :)) Anyways, here's to the best phone I ever had.
Hey buddy you must be running emui 10 on P20 pro right? How would you compare battery performance compared to emui 9.1??
It's a good question. I know a lot of forums talk about updates improving or impacting battery life and to a degree this makes sense. But ultimately you have to ask yourself what are the biggest contributions towards battery life? They are Battery size, type of battery along with chipset. Obviously then you have features, software and so on. The best way would be to do what I've done but if your trying to work out what it would be like for you, whilst running EMUI 9.1 then I may be able to help. From my experience, the P20 Pros battery life didn't massively change over the course of its lifetime. So from my experience the EMUI updates didn't have a lot of impact. Normally if you treat your device with care and don't kill the battery if will remain strong for a lot longer. In summary I would say your looking at a similar difference, but both phones do well. I hope this helps and I'm speaking from my own experience.
I agree, I bought the phone almost at launch and now 4 years later and fully updated I can't say I notice any battery runtime issues due to software or degradation (but I use the phone wery gently - not charging over 80% or discharging below 20%) the only issue - now it's less tolerant to cold and can shutdown phone if it gets frozen
@@miaso130 glad to know that! When are we expecting Harmony OS update? Excited for that
Awww. So sweet guy 😊 thank you !
Your welcome 😊
I jumped from the Pixel 3XL to the P40 Pro and Huaweis Petal Search and Pure APK gets you 90% of the Apps available on Play Store. I have Google Maps, can't log in to contribute photo's as I did but the sat nav works perfectly. I've snapseed, messenger, WhatsApp, Tunein Radio etc. Petal search will get you most of what your looking for. I don't have Gmail but Huaweis email client will let you log in and all your emails etc will work no problem. Don't think you tied to Google or Apple your NOT..
Amen! Only people that haven't played with the new system think they're missing something, some people think you can't even use Google to search can you believe that!
There are some apps that just will not work without GMS. NatWest's banking app for example.
Amazing review. But why are the p40 pro file sizes at least 5mb smaller in hi res photo shooting mode than my p20 pro ? When I shoot with my p20 in 40mpix file size is about 15mb per file. And there is more detail in daytime photos. Can you shed some light on this? Thx for any help you can give me.
Gotta love the intro.

Is it a good option to upgrade to p20 pro in 2020
Hi, what device are you currently using?
@@HTubeofficial Huawei p20 lite
@@WARFLAMEENTERTAINMENT OK I would say P20 pro would still be a great jump but your better looking at the P30 Pro new edition. It will be leaps and bounds and you would enjoy it very much. Or you could look at the Nova 5T if your looking to get a good device but keep cost down a little
Hey great video! Is it stupid to buy a new p20 pro now at the start od 2021? I don't have enough money for p30 od p40. Is it better to buy p20 pro or some phones like xiaomi redmi 9 and similar mid range for the same money like p20 pro, which is high class phone. Thanks
One of two reasons I'm going to upgrade my p20 pro (and it's 2022 now) is because I'm running out of free space and I don't want to use cloud storage. The other reason - sometimes I miss having the ultra wide lens. Apart from that my p20 pro is still running great - as fast as on day 1 - no slowdowns as on Samsung, still receiving security patches, still great main camera, on par with current flagmans
I have a Huawei P20 Pro but it's still a beastly phone with a good battery and very nice Camera
Absolutely, I still have mine. Its actually sat in front of me now, solid device. If you haven't already a sub would massively helps us on our journey to 1k 😊
waiting for P100 pro I love my P20 pro update not necesarry...
an upgrade is obviously worth when money is not a subject. I can buy a p40 pro for $500 or a P20 pro for $300. My question is, cameras aside, is it wort it spending those extra $200?
Hi Jason, great question. As long as you are happy finding alternatives here and there then I would say so. For me I would be happy to pay the additional for faster charging times, nicer body design which this definitely has and a more powerful performance from the chip. But I feel if people need a phone for general use and don't tend to use all the bells and whistles then the P20 Pro is still a fantastic device 😊
@@HTubeofficial thank you👍🏾. I think i'll go for the 40

I really like saturation on p20 pro its more colourful than p40 pro
Yep, I think with the evolution of the phone they've chosen to back off the saturation a tad and give the user a more natural look. It takes alot of engineering to get it the image looking right in every scenario, but you can always chuck some saturation back in using the Leica filters (Leica Smooth and Leica Vivid) 👍
It looks like Huawei make more natural the greens and the sky in comparison with p30 pro that had a radioactive tone in the greens
Hi Pedro, we are currently doing a P30 Pro vs p40 Pro and can see a similar thing, the greens are a little brighter but not by much. The P40 Pro thanks to its new XD engine really helps bring out neutral tones. Plus the P40 Pro uses a RYYB colour sensor. It really is a great phone when it comes to photography.
@@HTubeofficial, So did the P30 Pro, didn't it ?

I love doing these videos and it's nice that someone has benefited from it ❤️ thanks. Good luck with the freebuds competition!
Those little glitches when you listen via Bluetooth earbuds or speaker. Can anyone advice if there’s a way to address that? I am talking about the P20 pro model. I tried it with different Bluetooth earbuds and the glitch is still there, basically the sounds cracks a bit every now and then. It’s like the audio version of that very small stone in your shoe that you can’t get rid of. Rather very irritating. Otherwise fab phone indeed.
You did not told us about p40 pro know fault... Like in p20 I am using and it's know fault is its finger print sensor which mostly people change after some period because it will getting hot and it stops working and finally you have to change the entire sensor... I faced the same issue and after replacing it with new one sensor I am still using it.... When I visited company outlet they told me it's know fault in p20 and you need to change entire screen panel which was very costly then I went to local repair shop and replaced only sensor which is like button...
We haven't mentioned that because, we have never had any insues with the fingerprint readers and my P20 pro is is exactly they same as when I got it on pre order. Haven't even heard of this issue before👍

Hey does the P20 pro still supported by software and security updates in 2020 ?
It's Jan 2022 and the most recent security patch for p20 pro is from Nov 2021, so yes its still supported
Lets be real P20 Pro camera is more colorful and P40 Pro videos are more stable if they put colorful in P40 pro like P20 it will be great
I get that, so the colour in the P20 Pro is actually a slight over saturation which I do like. The P40 Pro can still pick up vibrant colours if you wanted it to, using the Leica Smooth preset built in. The P20 pro does have a dedicated Mono lens which is cool but AI replaced that ability but a dedicated lens is always cool.

Can't you do monochrome comparison photo's as no one else has them, if you have P30 Pro, the do monochrome P20 Pro Vs P30 Pro but you must make sure that both 2 photos are of the same thing, same building same everything etc.
Thanks for taking your time to comment and I hope you enjoyed the video. You've made a great suggestion, I will endeavour to get a comparison video out as soon as possible but for the largest part of it so far there hasn't been a massive difference in that I miss the monochrome lens. I too was cautious at first as its a very unique feature but it has been simulated exceptionally.
@@HTubeofficial I would prefer it to be Huawei P20 Pro Vs Huawei P30 Pro Monochrome but remember if you don't have a P30 Pro then P40 Pro will do and it has to be identical photos.
That apps thing is definitely a deal breaker, why is it like that?
The new devices don't use GMS. They use Huaweis app store. What apps do you use? I may be able to explain a little more for you.
Reason is trade war between Donald Trump and China, and wanting to cripple Huawei from being able to offer 5G systems as many nations did not want to participate in the boycott. He has therefore banned Huawei from using Google services, and thus Google Pay and Google Maps etc, will not work - along with various banking apps.
Now that China has tightened its grip over Hong Kong, I don't see this changing any time soon. So better look at Xiaomi and Oneplus for the future Chinese models. Huawei is really good, but a bit useless in nations outside of China - too bad...They really made Samsung and Apple improve their own phones.
Thanks for your comment, it'll be interesting to see if Trump continues bullying the chinese by picking on another one of those phone manufacturers you mentioned.
At the moment Huawei has gone into Fight or Flight mode and from the updates we are seeing on their phones they are pushing hard to keep their brand innovating. I wonder how it will turn out, having their own app store and inherently independence from the US will make them stronger but its a shame it had to be like this as Google and Huawei are good friends and partner companies
@@janoleolsen thanks for your input 😊 from our experience so fair, depending on what type of user you are Google isn't a deal breaker. In the UK most monking apps work with no problems it's only really two that Huawei are working on. Huawei services offer everything Google does which is pretty cool and 98+% of your apps will still work on HMS. The thing we are excited to see from Huawei is app integration with HMS, like Apple do on social apps.
Yes p40 totally destroys the p20 hands down. But here in Greece they sell the p20 standard model for only 200 euros! I run and bought it!
It is still a great phone and that's an awesome price point. Is this your first Huawei device?
Yes. I also have a xiaomi MI 8 that currently runs for 238 euros in Greece. They both are great. P20 has better low light and screen, MI 8 is faster and has better cameras overall.
is p20 worth it?
thinking of getting one too
@@jeiciaa8347for 200 euros yes. you can consider at 200 euro or a little more realme 6 with a 90hz display. But if you find with not more than 250 euro a xiaomi mi 8 buy that with your eyes closed. i have both the p20 and the mi8 and the mi8 is superior in EVERYTHING even compared to newer models at this price range.
p20 is below 200usd like 180ish
mi 8 is above 300 usd
thank you for the feedback
Nice
Thanks mate
Your more than welcome, do you currently use Huawei or thinking about getting one?
@@HTubeofficial yep I'm using p20pro nowadays but I'm thinking to upgrade it with the p40pro
Thanks for ur review and I've decided so I'll upgrade it🖤
@@omarkaqish5227 you will enjoy it, once you get it if you have any questions we are happy to help mate.
@@HTubeofficial I hope so appreciated🖤🖤
After almost 5 years, p20 pro's battery health is at 78%.
Wow p20 pro shacking much
Iam not getting any google security patch update in my huawei p20 pro
I did.
Why didn't you do a monochrome comparison, please can you do one, can't believe you missed that one out.
Hello John, it is a shame I missed that out as I was a fan over the mono lens on the P20 Pro. So we will definitely try revisit this and thank you for watching and giving feedback.
Why no monochrome comparison.
HI Dave, only because the P40 Pro doesn't have a dedicated Monochrome lens like the P20 Pro. It can still do B&W photography and it's pretty good. We will try include some for you in future videos 👌
I dont know if its just for me, but after some updates, 60 fps was removed, now i have 4k option, but ita just 30 fps. its an absolute bullshit
P20pro smahes competition in night time video
Ahh you are based in Medway!

Thank you. You convinced me the Huawei brand is to be avoided .
I wouldn't say so, I feel you just want people to know your not a fan of Huawei 👍
rather have alternative ways to download apps than not be allowed to insert a memory card into a phone or freely share files with other devices and having a scarce charging port.
@@HTubeofficial he's looking for attention.
I won't be buying Huawei ever again. I have a P20 Pro and whilst it's a nice phone my fears about buying Chinese and ending up with a knife or two in the back seem to have been well founded. For starters in an apparently intentional move a 'security' update has severely degraded GPS functionality (but the crappy Chinese Beidou GPS works fine!) and back in mid-2018 they removed the ability to unlock the bootloader and therefore remove the bloat & spyware. The official reason for this was to 'ensure a better customer experience', which is probably true if your customers are advertisers & the Chinese government.
But lesson learned; there's lots of phone companies that genuinely care about their customers and Huawei isn't one of them.
Thanks for the comment Loc, glad you enjoyed the video 👍
I don't think there are a lot of phone manufacturers currently left that allow unlocking bootloader or easy rooting, so huawei is not really standing out here
p40 pro useless
How long have you had yours?
That disgusting, ugly pill-shaped camera cut out really put me away from this phone. I'd prefer to have a notch of any kind (even Pixel 3 XL like) but not that horrible thing. For such expensive phone it really is a significant flaw for me personally. And those curves.... Who actually need them and what for?
Hey Victor, welcome to the channel and thanks for watching. I get what you mean, I thought the same at first but when I started using it I noticed a lot of nice points. So I play a lot of Cod Mobile and found it pretty nice because its located under my left phumb where that run analog stick is so I don't even notice it where as the standard set up in the notch is still visible and can sometimes be a little distracting but only slightly. It's the same with videos moves ect when I'm actually holding it I don't notice. And the qaud curve display was actually quite a nice experience again for game play and movie watching, it did allow for a more immersive viewing experience. But until you have it in hand it's hard to appreciate. What did you think to the rest of the video?
@@HTubeofficial Your video is quite detailed, extensive and informative. Maybe a bit long :). Straight from the beginning I knew that old tech has little chances against new one though. I used to have Huawei Mate 10 /10 Pro, 20 Pro, P30 and quite a few other flagships like all Pixels (except 4 XL) in the past. To my opinion only very first curved screen on Galaxy S6 Edge had some purpose and made sense. Otherwise it's quite annoying to watch videos and do other things on it due to reflections. Currently I own 21:9 flat screened Xperia 5 and I believe it provides much better experience for gaming and especially for watching movies. It doesn't have any screen cut outs and notches as well. Regarding camera quality, Xperia 5 is really good, better than any Huawei I had before, but still think that Pixel phones and the latest iPhones are the best overall. I never ever had hit or miss experience with them as I did with all other brands. Maybe P40 Pro is different but I'm not sure :).
