    If you have any question about the Huawei's camera app/settings, feel free to post a message and I'll try to answer your question.
    And sorry about the bad audio in this video! There was some low frequency hum in the room i did the opening talk, and then my external audio recorder captured a lot of noise during the main video so I have to revert back to the phone's internal audio.

      Is there any mode that can be compared with moving photos in Samsung Note 8 (that allows you to record a small video of what happen in the scene 3 seconds before the photos, allowing you to save the best images you have capture)

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  6 лет назад +2

      yes. The circle/sun like icon at the top (or right in this video) of the screen allows you to capture a short moving picture with the static photo. But i don't think you can save the best frame from the moving photo.

    Great explaination! I'm thinking of getting the P20 for the lower price. I'm particularly interested in taking low light/night photos like lit buildings or city streets at night and play with light and shadows. Heard the p20 pro is known to overexpose in those situations and that colors are much warmer, not as "realistic" as the p20. Is that true? And even so, can you adjust it in the pro mode? I would get the pro instead if It makes a difference in low light. Thank you.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  5 лет назад

      Hello hello kitty!! Nice nickname! If you can afford, definitely get the p20 pro as the camera is much better. I haven't done any side by side test with p20 Vs p20 pro, but the pro should be better in every area in term of photos and yes you can change the warmingness (is it a word?) In pro mode

      @@TheRealRichardWong Thank you! And thanks a lot for the quick answer. I based the question on a review on yt since he talks about shadows and exposure. ruclips.net/video/nYI19AzFvJc/видео.html. I wouldn't mind playing wit the setting before taking a pic if these problems can be fixed, dk if it's really the cameras fault or the slightly dif angle or sth else and plus what improvements software updates can bring. Also do you take the pics in RAW?

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  5 лет назад

      I just watched that video, to be honest I think the difference in auto exposure and white balance is really small and would most likely be different if you shoot different kind of photos. And you can also override most of this easily in pro mode if you want. Trust me, The camera on the p20 pro is much better.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  5 лет назад

    Very nice video. Well done. Just my thoughts on focus lock vs exposure lock..... At 8:00 you are talking about exposure, however I believe what you are actually doing is locking the focus AND exposure on a certain object. First you lock focus on an object (by touching and holding for 1 sec on the P20 screen), then drag the centre icon of the sun to achieve desired exposure. The outer ring is for focus BTW. Those who understand DSLR's will be familiar with the above. Another small opinion that may help those on a budget.... the Mate 9 is a very very solid phone and in some respects better than the P20Pro.... camera is also beautiful. I only upgraded as I accidentally (severely) dropped my Mate9, otherwise a whole year later, it performed like it did out of the box.

    Hi Richard, bought P20 Pro recently because of your awesome review. For an amateur photographer, not much with the pro setting as of the moment as it confuses me for now and maybe many more experiments to do. But do you suggest or often use smooth mode or Master AI mode? Smooth mode is not allowed when using Master AI mode.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  6 лет назад

      jmca18, if Pro mode is a bit confusing, then just shoot in normal "Photo" mode with master AI on. There are many ways to enjoy and learn photography. I think shoot in auto mode isn't a bad idea because you can focus on learning the composition, lighting..etc and worry about the more technical things later. Oh what is the "smooth mode" you are talking about?

    • @maich3lbio
      @maich3lbio 6 лет назад

      Sorry it was smooth color from your video. I believe vivid colors have more contrast and makes the picture more darker compared to standard color. It's master AI mode vs smooth color from what you chose in the video. Which is best?

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  6 лет назад

      It's more a personal preference. AI mode colour is usually more saturated while smooth is slightly less saturated. Having said that, Master AI is more than just colour adjustment. It does a lot more like automatically switch to portrait mode, document scanning mode, night mode..etc depends on the scene you are shooting. So I would rely on Master AI and if the result doesn't look what I want, then switch it off for that particular photo

    • @maich3lbio
      @maich3lbio 6 лет назад +1

      Yes agree it is more of a personal preference. I have switched the Master AI on already. But I think I prefer the standard colour than the smooth colour. Vivid is very strong in color and darkens the picture. Thank you for your help Richard. Appreciate it.

    • @TheRealRichardWong

      With the latest firmware you can adjust the effect but you can adjust how much blur you want so quite often I would shoot in aperture more instead

      @@elmerjosephyap4806 Portrait mode is pretty much all automatic, so it's easy to use and result is nice. But aperture mode you have more control in terms of background blur, and you can control it after you took the photo. Each has it's own pros and cons

      Yes, sorry it was tucked away in more. I was expecting it to be a little button on the screen somewhere. I'm liking the camera although super slo mo is difficult to work with and wish it could be a little simpler somehow. As for comments about compatibility in Final cut pro, I've had no problems with importing video as I chose H264 instead of 5. Will try 5 at some point soon as I'm sure it'll become the norm.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  6 лет назад +1

      yes the H264 is more supported format at the moment but give it a bit of time, the software will catch up and supports it. It's good to have option anyway isn't it?

      I appreciated the differentiation between the portrait mode and Aperture mode. I initially thought it was a redundant setting but you clarified the difference. I'm still perplexed as to why Huawei hides the monochrome setting in a submenu instead of a dedicated onscreen button.
