Aunque tiempo después Interjet quedo al descubierto como una compañía que debía dineros a todos, incluido al servicio de mantenimiento de sus aeronaves. , ..
It's too bad this has not done better, I really think it should have. There just seems to be a kind of prejudice against Russian civil planes. Even though planes like the the Tu154 were widely thought of as great ( except in Poland).
Redlock Sadly, it comes down to a handful of factors, which are undesirable in the aviation market. The poor, or sparse after sales maintenance teams worldwide are a major factor in the lack of orders. Secondly the fixtures and fittings soon became known as flights stallers. Meaning basically, that every time a door jammed or wouldn't close properly, or there was an electrical fault preventing the on-board entertainment systems from working, or just problems with toilets that wouldn't flush, or a system fault on the flight deck - it would prevent a plane from taking off. Passengers had to change planes in order to fulfill the flight which would often mean the flight operating at a loss. Once this reputation has spread throughout the aviation world, airlines were reluctant to place orders, and options withdrawn. It's almost impossible to recover from this situation, and even after heavily discounting the plane, orders simply dried up. There might be nothing wrong with the basic design of the aircraft, but it's the details that count. You have to get every little thing right, and tested to perfection and a reputation gained. With good economy, solid engineering and reliability, and worldwide maintenance bases fully staffed and equipped, the aircraft could be a nice runner and compete with similar offerings from Airbus and Boeing. But once the seeds were sown, it's impossible to dig them up.
Its not that simple. Russians are good engineers but suck at marketing. Its not only baout a good product, it is also about support, maintenance etc, which sukkhoi just doesnt have....
Their business plan wasn't ready for dealing with these regionals that fly the wings off of their aircraft. Some of these regionals are flying almost 24/7. Russia shouldn't have sold to people like City or Interjet yet. But the SSJ is perfect for example , for the Thai federal govt or any govt agency.
In my opinion, it is the best Russian jet aircraft manufactured in the twenty-first century, but its only flaw is that it relied heavily on non-Russian parts. This is the reason why It is falied but if you consider that 229 units were made. This is not bad considering that its only Confirmed market is Russia.but it also sell in countires like Mexico and Belguim so not bad at all. This is my point of view and I respect different points of view.
Thanks for your interesting video on this aircraft. I had the opportunity to fly on one of these when Finnair leased one in 2016. It was very comparable to Embraer's competitive product, pretty modern mini jet inside. My only gripe was the engine noise that was noticeably louder than with the competitors' planes, enough to hear over my noise cancelling headset.
A little correction, the accident in 2012 was blamed to be a pilot error. However, it was an error of missing terrain data. There was no information on any map about the mountain and the air traffic controller also had no information that there was high terrain and cleared the aircraft to descent to 6000'. When the terrain warning came from the aircraft the pilots ignored it because a) they had no high terrain in their maps b) air traffic control cleared them to that level which they would not have done knowing there is high terrain. To make the story short, someone who should have provided proper map information did not give it to the traffic controllers. But as usual, blame the pilots and let us close the case...
Its good modern design and my only fault would be that 75 version is the baseline and 100 is streached version. It should been other way arround. This would have open up the possibility of streach version with 120-125 passenger.
Interjet, a Mexican carrier bought a bunch of these lemons. Today, Interjet cannot get rid of them fast enough. Lack of spare parts made them use some superjets of their fleet as part donnors so the remaining planes could fly. The airline will retire its SU-100 fleet in 2020 making it an all Airbus carrier. And that's a case study of why no one takes Russian commercial aviation seriously.
I read somewhere that Sukhoi had Boeing as an adviser so the SSJ100 deliberately turned out like a mini-Dreamliner. Don’t know how credible that was, but it certainly has a very sexy, sleek look both inside and out. I hope Russia gets the logistics and supplies issues solved. It’s a great aircraft and I’d love to fly on one someday.
A good airplane actually. The tech, it's not behind the competitors, are but, the "small" sales support is a problem. I've attended the airshow in Jakarta 2012, sad for the accident, and, the SSJ 100 crashed site is only 10 Km from my house. So, a memorable name for me... 😅
Unfortunately, this plane has been overtaken by the Airbus A220 (neé Bombardier C-Series), which will soon be built at two factories in North America. The A220 has even more modern engines and the same wider fuselage design pioneered by the SSJ 100.
@@bennievalmarie3878 You sure can. But long term, those two SSJs will probably cost you more, and serve you less, than a single A220. Just ask CityJet, or Interjet, or even Aeroflot, what a disaster this plane actually is. The SSJ has already proven to be unreliable, to have a very low rate of serviceability and to be very costly to operate. And Sukhoj/UAC seems to be incapable to provide even a basic level of after-sales support or supply of spares. In other words, the plane has massive problems. Systemic problems that have been plaguing the Russian/Soviet aircraft industry for ever and are unlikely to change.
OceanBlue Still holds better record than your flying coffin 737 Max 8. Assholes put a bigger engine without making appropriate changes in the airframe and put a video game software to compensate balance tail and nose.
mexican Interjet (which no longer flies), crashed one of this planes into a telescopic contact point, then they used it for parts, as supplier response was too slow.
I was lucky to see a couple SSJ100s at Sheremetyevo International Airport, both from Aeroflot I think. I had wanted to fly the SSJ100 to Dresden, but it was so much cheaper to fly to Berlin on a 737 and take a train to Dresden, 70 USD from and to Berlin, plus a three hour bus trip from and to Dresden VS. 300 USD directly from Dresden... Shame, though, because the Sukhoi looks really cute!
At this point, I'm rooting for just about any private aviation company to provide real competition to Boeing and deliver a swift kick up their backside and maybe help return some common sense to and competition to the aviation industry. Kudos to Sukhoi for developing what seems like a solid modern competitor to the 737, and I would like to see them able to operate in American skies.
Can never happen: the Russian Aviation Industry is a complete joke. What western airliner would spend $90 million on a plane that can only fly for 3 months a year?? The other 9 months grounded, waiting for parts. They make 70 a year...Airbus make 40 A320s A MONTH!
The superjet 100 Is my favorite aircraft I fly through Mexico often. It is either a Embrar , fokker , Boeing , Airbus , or the superjet . The superjet feels big , light and powerfull , even with every seat full and most people carrying extra bags it accelerates very well ! The fokkers feel of good quality but are small and feel heavy , the embrar and air bus have some construction that gets the job done but looks cheap , the boeing is like a buick does everything well except that it tends to smell like jet fuel inside during taxi and wait . but the superjet feels like a big roomy sports car , I love it !
Great Plane, have ride those several times with Interjet in Mexico, in fact right now, Interjet Covid times operations rely over the SSJ 100 fleet as the demand do not justify the use of the A-320, the plane is preventing Interjet to fall in far worst financial difficulties , the only risk at this time is the spare parts availability, they have ground something like 5 planes from a fleet of 22 or so to canibalise the spare parts for the rest. Greetings from Mexico!
My god...if an airline has to ground 5 out of 22 aircraft just for spares...thats a massive Fail! It must be costing the airline millions! Appalling back up service, hardly gives any future customer confidence, does it??

This plane crashed 9 May 2012, killing all 45 aboard.
This plane burned on landing on 5 May 2019, killing 41.
Only 148 SSJ100s have been delivered since 2011. Due to poor reliability, Few are still flying, mainly for Aeroflot. Few countries certify it.
As a former commercial pilot, I like your review of this aircraft.
Would love to see you do the Fokker F-28 1000/4000
Make better, working planes and they'll be used. Looking at Dublin Airport, there are at least 3 CityJet Sukhois on the ground not being used.
The jet was done good. The business plan wasn't
I hope international disputes will not bring this beauty to its knees
Good video, keep up the good work sky 👌👍
Thanks for your interesting video on this aircraft. I had the opportunity to fly on one of these when Finnair leased one in 2016. It was very comparable to Embraer's competitive product, pretty modern mini jet inside. My only gripe was the engine noise that was noticeably louder than with the competitors' planes, enough to hear over my noise cancelling headset.
This Channel deserves more attention!
One of the best looking jets out there. Great video my friend
Love the stuff you broadcast Sky!
Great video! Love this aircraft, more airlines should be considering it!!
I have seen an ssj 100 interjet Mexican airline at las vegas airport I guess out of the 22 they have only around 4 are flying current in their fleet.
It might not have the best record, but at least it didn’t go nose down like the max did
WTF are You talking About, The MAX is A Good Plane
SSJ100 Beautiful looking plane.
I'd love to see a video about the Tu-114.
I'll make it in summer
@@SkyshipsEng looking forward to it.
Meanwhile I will enjoy this video as well as your older ones.
Yeey!
Mustard made interesting video about this remarkable plane:.
ruclips.net/video/22H8M8h6Hdo/видео.html
Great video as always! Keep it up Sky!
What a beautiful regional jet! Definitely gives the Embraer and Bombardier/Airbus regionals a run for their rubles!
very nice ... I wish them lots of success in the market. Thanks for posting ... your posts are very good and informative. Keep up the good works.
Sacto1654 and at what cost difference ? lol
Dont forget the Embraer E2.
@@danielkirkland3366 You can get two SSJ100s for the price of a single A220
@@bennievalmarie3878 You sure can.
@@catrachocolo Of course things are unlikely to change, history shows that. Ask Boeing if things have changed for them
your videos and comments are superb.
This is a beauty, and nice jetplane
Thanks Sky for this informative video
At least it flies better than 737-8 Max :(
777jones As 'better' as the DC-10. Flying caskets all 3 👌🏻
OceanBlue Still preferable to the flying coffins B737M8
Typical Russia always jealous of Americans
737 Max 8: I bet I can make you won't be back ...
OceanBlue Still holds better record than your flying coffin 737 Max 8. Assholes put a bigger engine without making appropriate changes in the airframe and put a video game software to compensate balance tail and nose.
Once again great video sky
Model and design so nice. Plane looking so cute.
mexican Interjet (which no longer flies), crashed one of this planes into a telescopic contact point, then they used it for parts, as supplier response was too slow.

Thank you! i really like your videos.
The Sukhoi is a really attractive plane! Interesting video as always
Thanks for very interesting documentary on Sukhoi Superjet commercial airliner.
Excellent video! Thank you for keeping is up to date with the progresa of Russian aviation industry. 👍
@Alex Surname or lease a 220.
SSJ100 has the lowest distance between engine and run surface - 18 (!!!) inches !
These videos are what I live for!
Awesome aircraft very nice commentry..thank you so much ❤️💕💕❤️🌹🌹👍👌
This Jetliner is just awesome 🥰
If you cannot support what you sell then nobody will buy your product. Until Russian aerospace gets it shit together they will not be a serious player in the world market. They really squandered a great opportunity with this jet.

Remember man, alot of these government companies are only like a few years old. Its complicated story of funding as modern Russia is only about 30 years old. But believe me we are getting better and healing.
Still remember about first accident of this aircraft in Indonesia. Me and some guys from school were having a camp not so far from the mountain where the accident took place.
I don't know if its just me, but I think the RRJ-100 is one of the coolest looking planes around:)
About the engines, Snecma, as part of Safran, has been renamed into Safran Aircraft Engines 😉
I was one of those users from interjet who been afected by the problems of this superjet 100, I was stucked in the airport for several hours, they were only using A320 because the problems of the Superjet
My cousin works for Interjet and flew this aircraft from Russia back to México, when Interjet acquired some of this planes for their fleet
I wouldn't mind taking a nice little hour long flight on this plane to check it out
Thank you for your informative video about the Sukhoi Superjet. I hope that the PD-10 engine will allow the Superjet to compete more effectively with Western regional jets. It is certainly a beautiful jet to look at.
One more sexy looking plane from Russia. I too hope that it will see the necessary upgrades and modifications to compete on the market ! Thanks again for this nice and informative video Sky !
Literally looks like a 737/A320 hybrid, looks very nice !
Good luck Sukhoi, and 'clear skies'.
"The airfield is not a bachelor pad" 😂
One of it crash landed yesterday , killing 41 on-board .
one crashed in Indonesia in 2012 during first demonstration flight
@@kaptenhiu5623 Yes , but at that time they blamed on the pilot and got away cleanly .
Denny Hiu they flew into a mountain that was not on their charts, after ignoring the egpws, it was nothing to do with the aircraft
From what I have heard, the Moscow crash was pilot error during emergency landing. I don't know why the plane got in trouble in the first place by a lightning strike. It should not.
That's a sharp looking plane, it's nice to see something that looks a little different... or at least as different as a modern airliner CAN look and still be efficient. I hope it finds a healthy market and does well on a global scale. Cheers!
I really look forward to your next release
I actually flew on one of these a few week ago. Nothing special, but nothing particularity bad either. It had kind of an odd layout with 2 seats on one side and 3 on the other.
@V-Jupiter odd ....... definition: different to what is usual or expected........ The usage is correct.
Great looking airplane. I hope the supply issues can get worked out. I hope ‘Amodel’ makes a kit in 1/72 scale.
Looks good.
Established western airline manufactures like Bombardier and Embraer who have worldwide servicing infrastructure and a good established reputation. Yet they were unable to compete against Boeing and Airbus without going into an alliance with them. The best I think Sukhoi can hope for is that don't loose to much money on this venture and get the chance to lay the groundwork's for enhancing their reputation and infrastructure for future projects.
Another excellent video. It would be great if you could make one about the Il-62, IMHO one of the coolest passenger jets ever made.
So this is the aircraft that fall on Mt Salak, I know, there was news on a new Sukhoi aircraft falled and not even the Russians can reach the fall site, now I know what a aircraft was it, subscribed immediately 👍🏻
