My wife and I have ushered for the Sarasota Orchestra for over 10 years. They are brilliant and a bright shining jewel in the crown that is the arts scene in Sarasota.

Wonderful! I lived near Philadelphia for many years and enjoyed the many musical opportunities there. This orchestra is a special blessing, especially to this Snow Bird.

From a flash mob perspective, I wish there had been more people watching, or the videographer had shown more of them. I love to see the expression on their faces.
To be fair, the video guy was probably there along with the band. It's for their posterity, not first and foremost for ours.
Not only do we live in paradise, we have beautiful music to go with it.

The Sarasota Orchestra (and it's Pops ensemble) are one of the most underrated groups in the country. Andrew Lane has since retired, but he was just terrific. If you are in the area during the concert season, GO!

Sarasota definitely needs more public classical and chamber music events like this- the airport is a good start. How about Lido Beach, bus depots, public parks, green areas around museums, schools and other institutions, all of which should support and encourage these performances. One of the main reasons I attend the Farmers Market is simply because they have musical entertainment.
