I really like the way you review these modules. Lots of great information. I had a great time running through this module. Most of my favorite spots were also outside the dungeon.
I truly enjoy this series of your videos. Please continue!! Another Doug Niles gem for your consideration should be B5: Horror on the Hill. It does not receive as much love as it should. This was the first official module for which I was a player. I had DM-ed the Mistamere Castle Mentzer adventure prior to that. Thanks!!
Yes I agree that this module really improved on the organization and presentation of adventures of the time. On another note I got some great VTT maps for this and have updated to 5e to run for my group
It's good to hear others express the same opinion as mine: I've always thought the N1 is superior to T1. There is story to this module, where what story there is in T1 is hidden within. I believe T1 is a lot of work to run where this module is very much plug and play. Novice is a misnomer, in this case. It's a hard adventure, and it can be a beast to run well. Villains need be introduced into the narrative early, why else would they be named. Like Lareth in T1, these cultists and brigands ought to be integral to the story; if they are just combat XP then they have no need to be named at all. The DM has to figure out a better way on how to believable lure the PCs to Orlane. I suggest a sister whose letters become increasingly frantic, until they cease, altogether. Or the old woman could presumably be an aunt. I Dm'ed this adventure for an entire year; there's that much meat in it. Love it to death. Great dive into this classic adventure. Very fun! Must say that if you are still looking for OAR suggestions, this will forever be mine!
N1 was the first module I ever played in. We wiped 3 times and took us a year to complete it so I believe you. I've run it myself several times since, and it's hands down my favorite low-level module.

Why? Why not just run it as 1st or 2nd edition. The more people that do this the faster WokeC will be brought down.
@@adampender2482 I have bought too much 5e stuff for roll 20 and I no longer have 1e or 2e books. And my players love 5e
I'm pulling for this as OAR, but AFTER Dwellers of the Forbidden City
I just ran this adventure. It’s great fun.
A house cat killed a player character?! Would like to hear that story 😅
I mean, not too hard back in the day. I think house cats did 1-2 hp damage. It wasn’t uncommon to have a character with that much hp.
You had a housecat kill a character once? 🤣

Thanks ! Been waiting for this !!! I think the module ties in well with Homlett, as an alternative to temple of evil.
Love to see this as an OAR.
Noted!
