Watching a writer run thier own creation is so cool. I freaking love this. Ive (tried) to run this once, i used it as a sort of drop in swamp adventure, i absolutly love this adventure,. although i have to admit i was a bit off with the plot. Im not that good of an actor lol, but its fun to see how well you play all these Npc,s God bless, and what a great module. If you like the swamp thing from the old comics, this one is worth grabbing. I bought 2 one for writing in and one i left in perfect shape. The entire line of the godman horror is IMO excellent.

I prefer the old style. Let the Dm have Fiat, and let the players have choice. Modern writing is not as fun.

Been eagerly awaiting my Purple Planet bonanza but a sudden job change has me moving across the country ahead of most of my stuff so I may not even see any of this in person for several months...By the way, for those of you looking to get into the mood to play on the Purple Planet, I highly recommend the classic song "Martian Landscape" by UFO.

I got mine and all I can say, it's amazing.

Can't wait to get my copy. My players are finishing their first DCC campaign, very excited to put them through the Purple Planet next.

The most flamboyant situation @ my table, was when our theif broke into an NPCs home while we were discussing a deal with them outside. Apparently our thief walked into a room with a dying blind man asking for his son, our thief played along & responded to the dying blind man whom upon taking his last breathe, gave his ring of Lordship & inheritance to our thief, thinking it was his son. We acquired an estate which became a base of operations. Kinda dirty but it was a memory I won't forget!

Will the complete set of Compendium of Dungeon Crawls be available, or only the latest two?

I’d love DCC classes ported to 5e. That alone would go a long way of making that game more old school and more like the style I like.

For 0 level character names, I make puns based on their occupations,like Billy, Butcher, Karima, Wheat Farmer, or Winnie, Cooper.

ShadowDark does something similar to a funnel, Kelsey calls it a gauntlet.

Thank you, all, for your contributions to this awesome setting. As of January 2025, have 'Wrath of the Orb-Men' and 'Memories of the Purple Planet' been published? I recently obtained all adventures (I think) except for those.

I would love to see simplified stat blocks like Nimble 5e does. I really love the simplicity of Old School stat blocks (e.g. how DCC or Shadowdark does them) Also the luck stat from DCC is really nice how it gets used.

A 5e conversion for Lost Vault? Where was this when I was running my own 5e hack of this two years ago?

We have a party who is still stuck in the Pits of Everfall since the 80’s!

Might I recommend a pledge level just just the box set and miniatures? Or I could also see a pledge level of the box set and just the three remade Goodman games adventures (Idylls of the Rat King, The Lost Vault of Tsathzar Rho, and Sailors on the Starless Sea) being popular as well. Edit: I know you have an All the Books bundle, (which I love that there is that option!), I just think having lots of different bundle options is always a good thing. :)

I'm excited! But y'all need to do these Kickstarter/backerkits in February or at least end of January. My wallet is still hurting from the holidays.

So, is this new "advantage" just a dice chain? Or do you bump up to a larger die and then roll twice? I wasn't never that enamored with the dice chain from DCC. D6 to D7? Ave roll of 3.5 to 4? Not that exciting. I'm trying to figure out a bunch of extra dice, not much fun. I love most of the other Goodman mechanics though. Definitely keep roll to cast, no maybe consider losing the spell only on a one. Or maybe losing the spell with you roll five points under the DC, or something like that.

Running this module now, cherry picking elements from the super module "Desert of Desolation" and I3. I'm running it on Foundry VTT (Virtual), and took quite a bit of work to get it working, but well worth it. My players were a mix of old-schoolers and new 5e gamers. They really loved the whole concept. As far as the Mummy-Pharaoh, I'm not going to run it as a combat. Instead, I'm going to have the staff inside the sarcophagus, with the mummy holding onto it. When the players reach to grab it, the mummy will open it's eyes, and give the player a small knowing grin, then release the staff knowing that with his treasure taken, will now be able to cross into the afterlife.

Asking folks to back another project from Goodman Games is a BIG ask, considering you sent the Purple Planet books to stores before the backers got their own copies! No thank you!

Thats why you don't let them pick what portal to go into......you lead them into the one you have designed. Or no matter which one they pick, make it the one you need them to go into. Give them the illusion of choice. :P I usually replace gateway C with "The Isle of Dread" module. I replace door D with my own world. I replace door E with M2 "Maze of the Riddling Minotaurs" module. I replace gateway G with Barovia in Ravenloft and I usually replace door F with Rockhome in Mystara. This keeps me from having to draw up whole worlds in seconds after the PC's pick a door to go through. This system has worked out pretty well over the years.

I use to sketch out the item card on the blank side of an item card. I would then water color paint them. Then I would ink it. On the lined side I'd write what the item was. If cursed I'd make an asterisk next to it to remind me it is cursed or has special trigger. I'd hand these over and players loved collecting these special pieces of art and items.

Interesting, let's playtest it. Another mechanism that could be revisited, is the inspiration mechanism. Something more resourceful lening towards cinematic experience. Also, i like the doom points for monsters (ToV) what about a similar more dcc mechanism?

Nope. Not for me.

I would love to see a spell roll similar to DCC -- making magic a bit more unpredictable and mysterious. Doing it for all the million 5e spells might be too much so how about each school of magic or each type of spell gets its own table? Regardless, interested to see what you come up with. I'm definitely in for this campaign!
