I'm excited to hear that CSX as one of the Class 1s is planning to testify to the STB that the path forward is good relations with labor and commitment to customer service. That will be a good resource for advocates and politicians alike to go to the other companies and ask why they aren't doing the same.

I can relate to this video.I retired from Ford 3 years ago after 30 years of service.I own land alongside the Cincinnati to Corbin Subdivision.I hope CSX continues to use it and hopefully utilize it more.I love catching the M541 and M542 come through.

One thing I heard him say was that rail docks for parts at the plants are gone now because of the lack of service. He seemed to imply that the loose car business lost that way is not coming back. The only way to get some of it back was to use containers. That seems like a hard hill to climb. Wall Street destroyed a lot of rail business due to their emphasis on OR. The hedge funds pushed their puppets like Hunter Harrison into the rail management and they proceeded to destroy assets like hump yards purely for short term gain. Despite his optimism, I don't see that damage being fixed anytime soon.

YOU NAILED IT. Joe needs to reach down into his organization and erase the PSR culture AND outplace PSR advocates, then he can rebuild the company into a railroad based on CUSTOMER value, The resulting organization will then be better able to deliver value to the shareholders.

I like what Mr. Hinrichs had to say; he didn't address everything, but hey, it's a start.

I don’t doubt that the intentions are good but there’s so much going on at the T&E level that upper management is missing

You can really see the change in culture now that Hinrichs has taken the reigns compared to someone like Hunter Harrison.
