Nikola Jokic is considered a reluctant 3-point shooter and yet his 3-point volume is higher than Dirk's was, which shows the difference in eras. Dirk was never a reluctant shooter, but his shot profile was so different than it would be today.
Dirk was actually heavier on the 3-balls prior to 2005. But the Mavs also didn't have a guy who can reliably score in all 3 levels. So Dirk had to turn his shooting ability and become the big who can post up from mid range and get baskets inside and draw FTs. That 3-ball volume would increase again in the twilight of his career in 2015-16 when he's not strong enough for the mid/post up game.

his run is a pure meme, nobody know the stats but repeating like parrots just to make it clear, recent Jokic, Curry, Giannis runs are better statistically(bpm, vorp, gmscore, stuff like that). Kawhi also.

Olajuwons Rockets did something similar but inverted, where they surround Olajuwon with elite shooters and use him to floor raise on Offense AND Defense Hm to Iverson 76ers in 00-02. A ton of defenders, but not a lot of shooting
