I'm tired of Microsoft forcing their unwanted "features" on me. All new features should have a check box you can check or uncheck depending if you want it or not.
a lot of people are
@@Britec09 What if we go into gpedit like you showed on another video for Windows 10 to stay on version 21H2 or 22h2 and not be forced to so-call "upgrade" to Windows 11, which I consider a "downgrade". Will that work?
You should work for M$.
That's the way Windows Update used to be.
@@dennislaplant95 Yeah, but now Microsoft sees it as, "You're using our Operating system? Well, than it's our computer to do with as we want."
I hate how Windows update likes to replace video drivers (AMD Adrenaline driver) with a Microsoft-certified one.. very annoying
Yeah, they can break system
Just use win 10 pause windows update until 3024 edit on registry
They broke my system with their shenanigans. @@Britec09
Is there a way to get rid of Copilot, it's garbage bloatware.
Colonel Klink: I will use Copilot to run Stalag 13!
Good luck with that.@@musicalneptunian
And I hate the way Microrsoft changes my keyboard settings and my browser etc when I upgrade.
Its my computer leave it alone!
Co Pilot coming to your keyboard SOON!
Great vid Bri ... but what about the poor buggers who have already had the auto updates done as per your previous video? ... they're stuffed are they not?, as in no going back ...
Holy smoke, I'm gonna write this down in my diary because as you say, this is a rare occurrence.
Very rare
I blocked all new versions and will stay on W11 22H2, thanks to your Group Policy Tweak a few weeks ago !
Lucky you, I'm on 23H2 and tried the GPT to go back to 22H2 then restart the PC but it doesn't work. We're in a "Microsoft Jail".
Me too my fiends say this new update is very bad and too many bugs and not good for gaming
@@Robert-sl7jo on another laptop I have W10 LTSC 2019 installed, never feature updates and support till, I thought, 2030!, Britec made a video about it…
If we're on 23H2 already, can we revert back to 22h2? I've been following your registry hacks on your 1 hour privacy video to disable Cortana and other things. I found on the registry on my own with gpedit where Windows Copilot is listed and I disabled it. As for the lockscreen using my local account on Windows 10 I had my PC locked with a password. On Windows 11, it has a second line stating "sign-in options". How do I remove that and go strictly with a password only like I had in Windows 10? Another issue is having duplicate drives on the left-hand pane. I had this also on Windows 10. I have 4 external hard drives where I keep all my data and the first group are in order, F,G,H and I. The second group are not in the same order. Also, my PC has 2 hard drives, C and D. So why do my external hard drives start off with F and not E? Another thing concerning Microsoft's change of heart, I've been sending your RUclips videos to Microsoft and Windows on Twitter or X and maybe that's made a difference. So, Rule Britannia!
I used your recipe for blocking the upgrade from Win10 to Win11 and it worked perfectly, I did do the upgrade this past weekend on 2 laptops and so far( fingers crossed) it’s working fine. And it is the 23H2 version, running great so far.
Great to hear!
Nevertheless MS keep forcing users to migrate to Linux.
Well Brian mate out here in Australia I have not seen anything to do with the 23H2 update and it seems to me that we are really so behind the rest of the world and I cannot see for the life of me why Microsoft are so slow in providing these sorts of updates out here. Having said that my machines which are running 22H2 work perfectly well even the main desktop with the unsupported hardware though I suspect that 23h2 will block that machine from running Windows 11 Pro. It is becoming increasingly tedious since Windows 7 seeing the different versions of the OS and the constant updates which I don't seem to remember happening with Windows 7.
...."continuous innovations".. Microsoft are masters of gobbledegook.
They sure are
@@Britec09 I think you hit the nail on the head, Brian when you say that perhaps Microsoft extended the EOL as Enterprise wanted to stay on 22H2. I would bet Enterprise customers want to avoid all of the AI nonsense*.
*nonsense - depends on a particular point of view, of course!
By "continuous innovations" they're alluding to "more efficient data harvesting"
Ecosystem. The integrated Microsoft ecosystem. You need coagulated post-binary ecosystems.
I used policy plus and your guide on how to defer updates to delay windows updates. If there's a bug in one of them, it gets pulled from distribution before I ever get it. as a result my system runs perfectly, because all the bugs in the updates I get are worked out by the time I get those updates
Can someone please help me with explorer.exe error every time I turn my pc off and when I restart it? I have watched every video and nothing seems to work
Interesting. I can think of several reasons why they would do such a thing, but listening to end users is not on the list. They may say it was from user feedback, but if Microsoft really did listen to user feedback (especially from the tech community) Windows would not be in as a bad state as it is today.
I dont care much for OS features, i just want the performance for gamin.
Gimme paint and bluray movies player and notepad, and i can do lots of stuff.
I stopped this at 0:42 to comment. I'm using "Win 10". Taking your advice some time back, I set the windows updates on a 7 day pause ( I think that's the max time they allow?). However, when I get the new repeated update notice popup's, all is good till I shut the computer down at which time the update automatically updates. I'll do a computer and UPS shutdown every day or 2nd day due to leaving the house.
Following your many cautions, I am seriously concerned. I have had early to mid 2000's software including Word that now don't function as their updates have disabled them. Their complete control and takeover is disturbing and I'm seriously now considering going over to Linux.
Any thoughts and comments would be welcome. Cheers
Have you tried StopUpdates10
Go get Winaero Tweaker. It allows you to block Windows Updates and has some really good additional controls. Works on Windows 10 +11
No you can set longer than 7 days, made video on that
If you have Win10 Pro you can go into windows updates advanced options and put off updates for over a month.
@@Britec09 Yes thanks Brian. In Advance settings... I set (a week or so ago) the pause until March 27. Yet it still did an auto update upon turning off the computer. I'll monitor it a bit more now that I'm pissed off.
im not worried over what microsoft does, microsoft cant touch my computer. Microsoft is blocked.
What you using Linux?
I've blocked most of ms websites except the defender and unfortunately the update websites.
@@Britec09 linux and personal custom firewalls.
Not a premade commercial software one.
Funny story: I was talking to MS support once and i noticed a sneaky dirty connection that tried to connect to me and i blocked it and asked ms support about the exact address, ms didnt answer my question about that sneaky dirty and hidden connection.. It was too late anyway, it was blocked before i asked the question.
I got a answer that "they knew that that exact connection was made" but never said why. sus
I dont trust MS, simple as that,
So i see it as fully protected until i notice that MS try and sneak in a alternative way, if they try and use a alternative door/address i ban that door/address in my network and i never remove my rules. I only add more.
@@gwaeron8630 MS will push anything anywhere.. i have noticed many sussy behaviors ms do over time.
Use dual networks, one safe and blocked for main use and a second one for updates and only updates.
That way you can relaxe between the updates, nothing sussy will be pushed to your computer.
My windows 10 computers "cant" update and it tells me that i have a problem but i cant find a way to fix that problem no matter how hard i try.. Win update keep crashing with a "cant find update server" error and then it pop back to "fully updated, no issues".
Im also able to install a perfectly clean windows install since the 3rd party bloat wont be installed (the win update issue) and its possible to uninstall the bloat before its installed, Its a rare perk ;)
Fabulous. Now to change the upgrade requirements for Windows 11 to allow older hardware to continue to function into the future and reduce the impending e-waste problem.
Updates. The software periodically checks for system and app updates, and downloads and installs them for you. You may obtain updates only from Microsoft or authorized sources, and Microsoft may need to update your system to provide you with those updates. By accepting this agreement, you agree to receive these types of automatic updates without any additional notice.
I have Windows 11 23H2...... My Notification Center is Not Working.......... Please, How to fix this ?
Like always good video.
SO just to know to u all w11 LTSC is coming oct 2024 ...
I will keep w10 LTSC until 2027 and then go to IoT and Linux ..No need for panic people🤣
Linux will be seasoned until then and complete more then now.
Cheers!
Reminds me of 2019, when it was a naitory update that literrally stopped windows booting.
i am afraid to install windows pro, last time i got a black screen and destroying all my drivers. i have windows home now, i will keep it until i know how install it properly maybe.
I've been using Windows 11 Pro for quite some time now. No issues experienced.
I think people are jack with microsofts position of - you use our OS, therefore we'll do what we like. I know its in their EULA but still doesn't make it right. Especially when of late they've been rolling out some woeful updates. You can't even get around it on a metered connection. I can only imagine the nightmare IT have with businesses using it.
There are lots of utility programs that disable Windows Update, make sure you really want to before you do though.
I’m looking forward to W11 the final version with forever support, yes I’m a dreamer 😊
People are still talking about windows 12 which should come sometime this year if all is planned to happen
cdkeys sales absolutly works bri even though they are based in hong kong.
I know that eventually whatever we're using will need to be upgraded. I personally like to have the freedom to choose what upgrades I want and when to install them. I'm glad to see Microsoft listening to their customers. This is a step in the right direction. Maybe one day Windows is going to be as customizable as KDE.
"Maybe one day Windows is going to be as customizable as KDE"
They're already stealing enough from KDE, but it will be Windows KDE without any of the customisation 😂🤣
to all my clients i installed 23h2 the came back angry haha filled with bugs not stable, slow...
Was buggy at beginning
I never want 23H2 because I never want that garbage AI Copilot.
It should be ILLEGAL to force any update. With Microsoft's prevalence of f-ing up peoples PC's and / or breaking apps with their dodgy updates. This f-ing mentality of if you use a Windows OS Microsoft "owns" your computer, has to stop. It ALWAYS forces updates. I have enabled the "pause for 7 days' and when you shutdown, it does the f-ing update that you paused.
Satan is impressed with Microsoft. How to own your PC soul. Well played.
3 Winmachines, all 3 could not install updates. Errror code says do this and that. Sure, I am the slave of MS. Linux will be the future. Fedup!
Yea, best security is you and dont click shiet.
Yeah no need for security updates, it's a sham.
First Comment !!!!
Dammit!
But last Comment.
The fact that all of you people continue using Windows shocks me.. You allow them to piss you off and you keep them in business. You all have a choice but continue to be abused by Microsoft. No sympathy for stupidity
Mate I went 100% Linux in 2019 because I saw this abuse coming. I watch from the Linux cheap seats.
i have windows 11 on a Z390 ASUS AND Z590 MSI MOBOS I HAVE THE PRO VERSION FAR AS I KNOW I CAN STOP ALL UPDATES FOR A MONTH I THINK IF MICROSOFT IS BYPASSING THAT THEN MICROSOFT OWES ME MONEY BECAUSE I THAT WHY I PURCHASED IT
