For large pins like those, I now use eco-goldex and electro-winn the gold out. There should be a thick layer of silver on the pins, about the same weight as the gold. I’ve reduced my acid use by 100x. I’m glad you are dissolving the pins, you will get an accurate gold total for others looking to recover gold from pins.
I don't think we can get the exo-goldex in Australia and if we did would be way more expensive than just using Nitric. At least last time I look into it.

yeah ive never seen it here
I use eco goldex as well best solution ever
I dont know where to buy it. And from videos I've seen, it looks like too much waste and effort for small return
Great so far. That is definitely using quite a bit of nitric so far. Hopefully it's close to being done. Looking forward to seeing part 2.
Fingers crossed!. im shocked at the amount of gold ive got so far . ill leave you guessing if thats good or not
Well done. Ill be keeping an eye out for pins like these
lol you might think twice after seeing part 2
@@prospectorpete lol dang it then! 😂
@@garrettmillsap well I can if you want. But is there any point if you're not posting much ?
@@prospectorpete not really lol
I think you need to add more distilled water for the copper to stay in solution. It takes a lot of nitric to dissolve copper. Much more than silver.
yep , as you will have seen , i noticed that towards the end

I use acetone if soapy hot water doesn't work to clean my glass , then i rinse with iso to remove any grime left by the water.
