21:15 it's been some time, since I've watched the show, but if I recall correctly Eliot's hardware has been compromised. Sure, Darlene is a really good hacker but the important bit is, that Elliot trusts her. So she got access to his flat and plugged in some dongle (I think into the HDMI port - that certainly would make sense) that sends his graphics output to the FBI
Yeah the monitor has likely 2 video ports. Darlene could have used a wireless video apater. The structure would be ElliotPC-MonitorPort1 and MonitorPort2(With Wireless Adapeter Broadcasting)-fbiPC
Although AFAIK most wireless HDMI adapter for example, only makes the monitor output the data onto it's screen so I don't know if the monitor itself could be like Port1's recieving the data and Port2 sending it. It'll likely depend on the model.
@@w1z4rd9 right
Correct, normie here, and this is why I wish they could track down the related scenes because later it's revealed it was something plugged in physically, and also that Elliot knew it was compromised *edit ok they do show one follow-up at least lol
Thing is, it's eventually revealed that Elliot knew, even without checking his hardware, that there was a capture card attached to his monitor, and he just did a fresh install of Kali as a means of baiting DiPierro into thinking they got him without him knowing.
You guys definitely should watch this show . Its worth it .
I think a good majority of criticisms were based on lack of context of what's actually going on .
Trying to locate the series, was it only 1 season or more?
@@alphaeligon9226 it has 4 season and it is one the best show in histroy u should watch it
Exactly, all the criticisms are wrong, they are out of context
@@alphaeligon9226 4 seasons. It is absolutely phenomenal
"I figured Elliott for an Arch type of guy"
imagine how tedious it would be to install Arch every time he wipes
Manjaro or Arco then. At the same time, Arch now has quick install scripts that automates the should-be standard stuff while still allowing the user to install only the applications, DEs/WMs they want.
He uses kali aparently
lmao but ig he'll probably write a script to do all the setup
For the metadata part, bare in mind that it was around 2015 so it makes sense as most SNS didn't really stripped out metadats back then.
I checked the Metadata at that time and I know Facebook, pof, and badoo did strip the Metadata at that time.
Love this series, mr robot changed mah life.
How?
@@shouvikkundu8289 now he pisses more
We can see in another episode the use of a plugged device behind the monitor of FBI computers, (can’t remember which episode) but it’s probably the same thing used in there
For the apartment scene: he earlier send an email with a link to a malicious program and the fbi guy clicked it and downloaded it... And then he said to the fbi girl "Hey I clicked this link from the mail he send and downloaded and executed this program but nothing really happened" hmmmmmm
The other possibilities for seeing what Elliot is doing in both operating systems are:
They're just seeing the video so it's a hardware implant or some kind of van eck phreaking/tempest radio thing where they're intercepting the EMF leakage from the monitor or the monitor cable (this became easier with SDRs).
Or it's a UEFI rootkit or malware in the el Intel management engine or AMD's PSP.
Or, and this is the least likely one, some sort of transparent bare metal hypervisor is installed and all of the other operating systems and bootloaders are running on top of it but that's not only the most noticeable but also highly unlikely possiblity. Also it's fiction so it's probably none of those but it's fun to speculate.
IIRC Darlene plugged in a remote screen capture thru HDMI as these guys said in the video
Thanks for another banger!!! Great show guys as usual.
Great episode, Cody! Joined the channel today, hope to see more 😎😎😎 stuff!
btw the show had a Cyber security consultant to br ing the hacking to life. So idk how many issues you'll find in the series tbh. I think the director or someone also had some experience in cyber secutiry or hacking who's on the film crew or up around that. I read somewhere they even went as far to have Rami learn what keys to type so it was that much more real.
at 39:35, what extension do you use?
42:56 You have to consider other possibilities, like the ethernet port being intervened. Malware injected into the bios that allows remote desktop access (some servers have this function as a feature). So a malware made a bios/uefi feature, would in theory allow remote access regardless of OS.
He seems to be using a Dell optiplex either a 755 or a 780, they used the same motherboard as some low end server towers and workstations (socket 775) with that feature, so unlocking remote desktop from the bios on those machines sounds plausible.
And yes there were 775 socket Xeons or 771 Xeons with adapters to 775.
"rich lady gets the experience of discomfort for the first time" 😭
great stream as always too bad youtube keeps adding more and more roadblocks :( really appreciate the hard work keep it up!
Actually, It is still possible to abuse Sonos speakers even if you are not authenticated. I have written a python script to do so and it still works to this day. Really helps you listen to good music in restaurants.
The linux mint part his because he saw her sister temper behind his monitor earlier so he actually open Kali linux to scan for intrusions while knowing and assuming he his watched then pretend to send an e-mail that the fbi captures and the dumb fbi agents opens the link thinking he got something but it was actually to find them lol.
Forgot to mention there his a video capture device attached to his screen sending stuff to the FBI. Like hack 5 cables. It's hardware guys, plugged behind the screen itself, that why they can still see the monitor even on a new OS. His sister plugged it behind.
Hacker can hack your IoT and ruined your life if they want to
what came to my mind was some kind of remote keylogger that might be capable of transmitting the output kinda like a omg cable but with hdmi, my idea patented :D no i kidding sure its already out there somewhere
This is awesome i enjoyed the video
One always reacts differently when something like in the house happens. As a spectator, you are a ... spectator.
Anyway, SUB7 4EVER !
Cool stream guys. FYI the clips you have here are all out of order and from different seasons of Mr. Robot.
Yes that's intentional, otherwise we could have copyright issues.
Same here, was doing COMPTIA A+ when I saw this episode a year ago! 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😈😈😈😈😈😈😈
Am I the onlyone who think Martin Wallström is so much alike Kody K. That might have been a wink.
Inline water heater....not say'n just say'n....
He hacked and did osint on everyone he came across.
The hot water could change if thr hacker turnrf om the lawn spyinklers and divert ihe cold water

Spoilers for Mr Robot//
Regarding the Linux Mint scene it’s because he was just out of prison and he was not trusting Darlene as she was having to work with the Feds.
13:20 trigger
Video card firmware ;)
17:25 why tho?
I believe it’s because you’re at more risk of being hacked
U are both wrong, it's because of security reasons. Root in the gui can give background programs (or hidden malware) admin privileges. Because of this. It's bad practice logging in as root in the gui.
Thx
@@johndank2209 Goldwrld literally said it in a similar way.
Man this guy pauses the clip like every 10 seconds
✍️The best, for inquire (attack to virtual reality), scences you don't show us!!! rs probably is forbiD#✍️
46:46 - Did you REALLY just say "silicone"? Not "silicon"? I thought the scene made it pretty clear that he was nuking chips... not fake boobies.
You know nothing about hacking🤦🏻♂️
What makes you say that?
at 39:35, what extension do you use?
