  • Although lithium-ion batteries are ubiquitous, their many disadvantages are motivating scientists to look for alternative battery technologies, including sodium- and potassium-ion batteries. However, the energy density of these batteries is still much lower than that of lithium-ion batteries. Now, in a recent study published in Advanced Energy Materials, #TUS researchers present an innovative strategy to vastly improve the capacity of hard carbon as an electrode material for both sodium- and potassium-ion batteries. Their findings put us one step closer to next-generation batteries, which will be less expensive and more environmentally friendly.
