Yeah hip hop and trap can definitely buck this trend. Cut out the melody for a bar and toss in a roll and then bring back the melody for another 8 bars lol.
@@EchoSoundWorks definitely lol. plenty of simple ways for some subtle background/energy variation, and in terms of the genre that's all that's really needed.
You should do sound design tutorials using logic stock plugins. I don't use logic but I think this would be super interesting and useful for those who don't have the expensive stuff!
you actually didn't break the rule of 3, its always in use once you seek to make your compositions interesting, the melody may have been repetitive however the the structure and arrangement changed to follow that same rule of 3
