I have big respect for the review. I feel the plugin has too many features the quality wasn't there in my opinion. Better to have a plugins that do one job well tbh. The only third party reverbs i use are "verbum" it's amazing and TSAR-R1 which really cheap. KSHMR reverb isn't try out "verbum" bro you will love it.
For me the question is just, "Why do I buy a reverb?" And the answer is not to make a reverse reverb, cause I can do that manually. It's not to octave, because shimmer reverbs do this as well. I buy a reverb because of its sound quality, and this just does not have it.
As always, you are my hero for sharing this. Not many people I trust and respect more than you. Thanks for your insight. Best wishes on your newest adventures going forward.
My experience with KSHMR plugins is they have good ideas and that's about where it ends. I had big problems with the Chain plugin. Cool to see you using RAUM, I love that plugin and use it a lot.
@@EchoSoundWorks I also really love Raum for its simplicity and beautiful sound. But I don't fully understand what the Freeze function is for. The only thing I can think of is to create textures or atmospheres, which should preferably be sampled and used as an audio file. What else could you use it for?
Great video. The 'idea' behind the plugin is cool, but I would rather spend an extra few minutes and get a better sounding reverb with vintage verb and a compressor.
Echo you have been one of my fav for a long time! Thanks for the review. And I agree, the plugin is kinda just ok...... Which is a bummer because KSHMR is pretty awesome.
Pronounce it separately first, 'Ra' - 'um'. the 'Ra' as in 'raw' but without the 'w'. The 'um' as in 'you mean', only the 'ou m' but together. And then you have 'ra - oum' - 'raoum' - 'Raum'. The 'R' preferably as if it were scratching your throat. In this case I think 'Raum' means 'room', but it can also mean 'space'. Thanks for the review! Ich wünsche einen wunderschönen Abend, oder Morgen, oder was auch immer 😉
i like the idea of this plugin but i don't like the reverb sound or algorithms i think it's wa production's fault they make everything trash kshmr could have pitched this idea to some other developers like excite audio (he has a plugin with them and it's good) the previous plugin made by wa production with kshmr was also trash af
Two worst things you can hear from a badly coded reverb are the delay lines wobbling and the worst is when you hear tuned resonances similar to if you hit on the side a piano with a hammer and the resonances trail off into overtones, if you hear a reverb like that it is terrible code. The Presonus Studiolive series mixers have terrible reverbs that all have these terrible delay clusters that resonate and it becomes a big problem live when those overtones resonate in the same frequency as feedback.
I bought it while I was on holiday because it was on sale and I didn't want to miss the deal. When I got home, I just built a Bitwig device using my favourite reverb and included all the features. Conceptually, this plugin is a good idea, but if the algorithms aren't that good then whatever.
I like this video format! Your insight on making plugins was interesting. I would love to see you review a reverb plugin called Reach. It is one of the cleanest sounds I have heard. It’s made for synths but I like it on vocals.
@@EchoSoundWorks I was most impressed by the filter section which could be its own plugin. It is an Eq with unlimited possible bands. There is pre filter and a post filter.
Also bought this based on the ideas and options but was disappointed in the sound. Thought it was just me but glad to see u didn’t care for it and most others in the comments as well
Amazing video. I’d rather do a few extra steps personally then buy this. I thought it was good with the transient sound for sure though. Would be curious where you went to start learning about dsp?
Yes, I've tried it. Honestly, I bought it right away just for the Tonal Reset and Soft Transient functionality alone. The Octave adder was just icing on the cake. I wish other reverbs had those functions built in. Sure these can be done with external plugins, but was just easier with this one. I still have my other reverbs like Raum and Valhalla. But this KSHMR is good to quickly dial things in with a single plugin.
Yeah the tonal reset is cool! Same with the soft transient. I can quickly create a soft transient by adding a transient shaper before the reverb so I still don't see myself using the kshmr one for this.
I had a similar experience, I ended up programming my own version with kilo hearts' multi pass and fx. I think some improvements on the release settings and higher quality reverb would make the plugin better. Maybe better for fills, and background elements.
There are so many things that this reverb does. I only use it with VI ... pianos, synths, guitar, bass, winds. Really strikes me as a sound design cinematic sort of reverb. If they intended that or not - I am not sure.
Well done review; thank you. You're right, it sounds like a basic all-pass filter algorithm with discrete delays not diffused enough, so the delays are audible as beating/wavering in the tails. I'll probably pick it up while it's on sale just because I like the convenient workflow, and esp. the transient capabilities, hoping there will be an update of the algorithm. They probably should have had an open beta period.... -Tom
your completely correct on this one. I bought it for the nice features. But its not really useful in reality because of the poor sound. I think this is good for beginners. But for more advanced productions its not really usable.
@echosoundworks Could you please redo your Short on how to make the most famous house sounds ever as a standard video? It's really difficult to see what you're doing on the short.
$169 reverb vs $19.99 sale price reverb. Have you tested ToneBoosters Reverb 4 ($32 US) which has dynamic compression, ducking, gating, etc. Unlimited use demo but you can't save presets.
Reverb war is hard to fight when there are Altiverb, LiquidSonics, Slate Digital, Fabfilter, SIR Audio, Eventide, UAD, Softube, BabyAudio, Waves, Valhalla, and so on.
KSHMR makes some great samples, but this reverb is garbage. (No offense intended- it's still far better than any reverb I could code!) I'll stick to Valhalla and Sinevibes.
His samples really aren't that great, either. I feel like his sample packs are great "starter packs" in a way because of the variety of the sounds he uses, but if I wanted stomp kicks I would look to loopboutique, 808s I'd try 808 warfare (or custom-made), if I wanted orchestral drums I'd use stormdrum 3, etc. I don't think his packs sounds excel in any way, but if I had to give a new producer just 1 sample pack, it'd probably be KSHMR vol. 1.
Anyone tried this plugin out? What do you think?

If this is not the best plugin review ever, I don't know what is.

The ideas are great but the sound of it sound a bit low quality and with phase issues. Stock reverbs sound better. I regret buying it.

had this quality been better I would of got this plugin for its features. Def time saver plugin but you trading it in for a muddier mix

holy shit ive been using raum for a while and never realized it had different modes???
Same thing happened to me with the logic x compressor. Didn’t realize there was different modes for like a year
I think it's the worst reverb I've tried so far, its sound quality is very bad, I can't believe KSHMR risked their brand to introduce this product.
Yeah it’s a little odd 🤷♂️

Møre of this, but bruttaly honest
I feel like with KSHMR's one it builds up resonance REALLY fast. idk if that's from mod depth or smth, but it doesn't sound very nice
Yeah certain sounds make it sound harsh, not sure why
Isn't D below par? Par on a scale 1-10 is actually a 6 in euro countries.
