I made something similar to that with a $5 tarp from harbor freight, and a couple of pieces of PVC conduit, and I used metal conduit for the out rigger legs, this was all stuff that I already had on hand,
Cool!
It’s a good design.
Thanks for Watching!
Thanks for the review, nice simple option for rain. Update us as you use it in the wind and rain please.👍
They now made an updated version that has 2 side wall. I like it even better. 👍
Excellent Unboxing, I ordered one 3/4 ‘s of the way through your Video!! THANK YOU for showing us this!!!!!!👌👍😉
Your Welcome! I think you’ll like it.
Thanks for Watching!
It'd be great to have this when I'm living in my next vehicle ,so I can cook when it's raining
👍
Good awning, looks like a perfect addition for van & SUV camping! I could definitely use something like that on my road trips.
My thoughts too. 👍
Thanks for Watching!
I have a Honda Element and it’s perfect for those side doors.
I think that could work for my pop up too. Thanks for showing the setup!
It should work fine.
Thanks for Watching!
That is an awesome set up. You can actually have two of these one for the side and the other for the back
Yep, but I can only be under one at a time! 😇😎
Hi,I’m Hasika, this video is very cool,I like it.
Thanks for Watching!
@@TrailMedic911 Are you interested in trying our other products?
I will send other products to you for free if you want to try other tents.
Yes, I’m interested in trying your other products. I have been very happy with the Teardrop Awning. My email is creatcon1@aol.com
Xmas in January. Nice tarp for you and Opie. Astro is coming together nicely. Looking forward to seeing the new tarp in action.👍
Thanks, it still a work in progress.
Thanks for Watching!
LOVE THAT AMAZON PACKING TAPE. ESPECIALLY FROM THE LAS VEGAS FULFILLMENT CENTER.
Thanks for Watching!
You said stoked, Im a surfer from So Cal and I love that word, im stoked right along with ya, nice shade thinggy
👍😎
Thanks for Watching!
I caught that, too. Nice!
Had me laughing at the comment about the screen and being wide open on the sides. Nice review.
It just seemed kind of weird to me. But, it is a nice tarp.
Thanks for Watching!
Unfortunately a typical Oklahoma spring day could turn this into a runaway flying kite lol. You can imagine too adding rain to that the equation where it’s coming at you near horizontally. Still a nice idea but you’d want to be very weather aware. Setup and tear down is a bit long for my taste too.
The updated version with side walls takes care of those issues. Check it out!
I like it. Lots of versatility! Have fun.
That’s what caught my eye about it too.
Thanks for Watching!
Well done! I’ve just bought one in australia too 👏👏
I think you’ll like it.
Thanks for Watching!
A big sail in the wind 💨
It can be, as with all awnings. But it’s pretty darn nice.
Thanks for Watching!
Just seen your set up really nice
Thanks, it’s always evolving!
That looks like it will work great for you!
👍
Great video!. Thank you
Thanks you!
Thanks for Watching and Happy New Year!!!
Just received mine for my Jeep and wanted to see it set up...looks like it will do the trick...and keep my Kitchen dry enough to cook and eat if needed.
I think you’ll really like it. I use magnets or tie it off instead of using the suction cups.
Thanks for Watching!
Waiting for mine to arrive now. Thanks for the demo.
I’m sure you’ll like it👍
Thanks for Watching!
I have a large sportbrella that I'm going to try out with my 4-door Fiat. I'll use it for standing up room privacy.
That might work. Let us know.
Thanks for Watching!
@@TrailMedic911 well...the Sportbrella won't work on/near my Fiat as it is too short in the side laying position. Oh well. But it will still be useful in other ways. I'll go with the tarp.
Yaaay you got one ! I think that is a great option for you. Glad you like it. I love mine.
Just trying to keep up with the guy with all the toys!!!! 😇
Hello my friend, very cool awning. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.
Thanks for Watching!
Great video. Exactly what I’m looking forward my minivan. Thanks for sharing.
I think you’ll like it. There’s a link in the description.
Thanks for Watching!
That was an all around good buy, the price and all the different configurations that you can make is perfect. Going to add that to my list. I'm putting together ideas of how I want to build. Great video. Going to look for your van build and well. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more.
I’m trying to put out at least a video a week.
If you have anything specific that you’d like to see about the van or my gear, let me know.
Thanks for Watching!
thank you
Thanks for Watching!
Just bought one for my sxs
Great! I think you’ll like it.

Nice...hope it works out for you....
Yes sir, it does work well.

Yes, it’s been one of my most watched video.
Thanks for Watching!
So glad I found your channel! New sub.
Thank you!!!! 👍
I have the same awning with a different name. I use the large Airhead suction pads/cups. I think ab $15/pair. (The cheaper ones aren’t as good.)
I like using the magnets. They work really well.
Thanks for Watching!
Fantastic! I think this can work for my SUV really well. Thank you for sharing!
I think it will work well with any SUV.
Thanks for Watching!
Or to set up on weekends when I won't have work ,just to shade the side of vehicle
Yep, it works great!!!!
Do you know how I find someone to install a MaxxAir fan or the other one .? I don't think I want to do it myself, I would have 5 years ago.But not now
Another good one Keith!
Thanks! 👍
Nice setup Keith!
Thanks and as always,
Thanks for Watching!
Did u use suction cups and magnets? Waiting for my delivery as I type. How waterproof is it.? I think I will spray mine as a precaution. Thanks for very good video.
I have never really liked the suction cups and only use them when the magnets won’t work like on fiberglass. 👍
Thanks for the video - do you mind sharing how you attached the magnets to the awning material?
The magnets have a hook on them. So I use the tarp guy lines
thanks for sharing, have you found it scratched or marked the car paint?
I really haven’t noticed. I’ve used it on several different vehicles.
Love it!!!! But will it stop the rain from flowing down between the vehicle and the edge of the tarp without leaking down?
The short answer is that it depends upon which vehicle you have. It works great on most. But on a few you have to do some finagling to keep the water from coming in. And I’m sure there is a rare vehicle design that it just flat won’t keep the water from running down the side.
Thanks for Watching!
I'd never sleep in a tent or lean to canopy by myself.
👍
on the amazon link there is a video showing an upgrade version with walls but I cannot find anywhere to purchase it isn't on the website has it been discontinued? tyia
Here is the link….

Would it be possible to get the width measurement of the awning that went on top of the van.thanks
Approx 8-ft
Thank you! Can you please let me know how it’s held up after a year? One other vid it broke on first set up??? Also curious how the windows fares in rain, does it leak??? I’m in a rainforest on Vancouver Island. Thank you so much
I’ve used it in both rain and snow. So far it has performed well. It’s still my go to tarp. Thanks for Watching!
I have not had any issues with the window.
@@TrailMedic911 Would love to see this reviewed next to the Kelty Sideroad. I am wondering if the Sideroad could be lifted like this with two aftermarket poles...
@peterevans8194 kelty sideroad doesn't have tabs sewn In to hold poles.. the kelty backroads shelter is AMAZING and has better features than this brands updated version with side walls. wall and screened zip door infront for ventilation and view. That said ,waiting for this one to be delivered as I want adaptability of poles.
Where do you get 100 lb magnets
And how did you put them up there
I used them instead of the suction cups.
amzn.to/3KUD9k1
Nice awning, but seems like a LOT of work setting it up.
It gets easier with practice. 👍
Thanks for Watching!
That's because he did it all wrong. Hes a doofus
How's this thing holding up?
It’s doing real well.
Thanks for Watching!
Which magnetic hooks did you get?

I own their screened house with 4 side awnings....it sucks...the whole design is ill-conceived and it leaks like crazy....which is said because it is a lovely thing....
Wow, that too bad. So far this awning has worked great.
Thanks for Watching!
@@TrailMedic911 thanks for the update...It, my screened house, is an awesome idea..I so wanted it to work.... Quality of stitching etc was good...I am considering but the awning as I will use it on the side of van like you..
can't hear you talk, sound from moving things is great ???
I’ve gotten a remote mic since this video. Hopefully it will help.
Thanks for Watching!
Seemed like it took forever to set up
Yep, there is a learning curve.
A medium size fart will blow this thing away.
So far I have not had any issues.
Thanks for Watching!
umständlich
👍
It’s a nice tarp!
Typical Amazon tape job.
Yes Sir, but it made it. 👍
Thanks for Watching!
