I like the last little bit before the end, a quick little rehearsal before the performance. The girls (can I call them that?) look/act so charmingly and Sergei saunters out so confidently. It really made the whole video, Pam. Well done.
@@DavidLeBlanc that was my favorite bit as well. It so didn't fit with the rest. I put it in, took it out. Put it back lol. His demeanor was so perfect. It just had to stay.
@@PamBoehmeSimon So glad you did. I can make a case why it did fit. The whole video was about rehearsal and the rehearsal went right up until the last minute. My guess is that is not uncommon. All I ever get to see is the performance. Sometimes I think the rehearsal may be the most interesting part of a performance.
The first (and only) live ballet I've seen was performed by a company from New Jersey, with recorded music, in a not-overly-large Vermont opera house. I've been a fan of Prokofiev for almost 60 years, so I knew the full score well. I was entranced. Many years later, I watched a complete La Scala performance with Roberto Bolle and Misty Copeland on YT and was reduced to tears. It's an incredible work . . . .
I have yet to get through Prokoviev's score for Romeo and Juliet without tears, whether sitting in a darkened theater or by the light of my flickering computer screen.
A great partnership, and the perfect ballet to showcase the immense talents of these two dancers. If my calculations are right, at the time of the video, Polunin was 32 and Cojacaru 40. Are they still dancing full- length ballets? The eternally youthful Cojacaru is now 44. Polunin is now 36 and would have another 10 years of performance career ahead of him . Ever since he left the Royal Ballet, I have been hoping he would return to the classics .... I wish both of these dancers health, happiness, and lots of dancing for 2025.
What beautiful dancers! Legends!❤
I’ve never seen anyone dance like him. ❤ Thank you for sharing so many great films like this.
He truly is one of a kind. And thank YOU.
Thank you so very much for this! It is the unique artists like this that make ballet so much more than just dance. Transcendent. ❤
@@ilenochka74 My pleasure absolutely!!
I flew to Verona in 2019 for this Romeo and Juliet. performed in the ancient aqueduct. It was magic and unforgetable!❤

@@PamBoehmeSimon Yup . . . it's a killer . . . really tough on the tear ducts.
As always, fantastic.
