  • NOTE: This video represents my personal view in no shape or form I’m pretending to speak for the entire capoeira community, this I my believe and how I see capoeira in a personal aspect.
Today’s video is about the 3 kicks I feel are the most important and fundamental when learning and developing in Capoeira.
If you notice every game you will see this 3 kicks being perform on a constant basis throughout the games independently of the players.
    ARMADA
    QUEIXADA
    MEIA LUA RABO DE ARAIA
They are 3 very distinctive moves of capoeira, if you see them being done you will associate them with the art of Capoeira.
So practice them until you can feel comfortable and in complete balance, focus on control so you can decide when and where to use them.

You've been an inspiration to me for several years. To hear you say you had to take a break for injuries made me feel a little better about my own journey. I'm 60 now and I struggle with injuries. It's hard to balance taking care of myself with learning and improving. I struggle because my body has much farther limits than my desire does. I'm forced to practice mild and simple, I spend a few minutes every day with just ginga and a few basic kicks.

I know its hard but step by step you will reach the best 60 year old version of you, and next year the best 61 version of you

Capoeira was disguised as dance by Brazilian slaves because at the time they were forbidden from learning martial arts.

It’s amazingly fun. It’s not good for self defence. However it helps teach control so you’ll probably be alot more calm if you’re attacked

@@lockiemcneven7219 i mean, the whole martial art is definitely not, but some of the kicks would ko a person with the most steel chin, especially that spinning heel kick

    • @eddie-zu7kg
      @eddie-zu7kg Год назад +1

@@lockiemcneven7219 Modern ginga is not the best for self defence. However, I would advise using a kickboxing stance while still using some of the spectacular kicks Capoeira offers. They're great for knockouts and surprise.

Meia Lua Rabo de Araia is probably my favorite of all the basic kicks. My mestre calls it Meia Lua de Compasso. Man, watching a video on this brings back memories. For some reason Compasso was the easiest base kick for me to learn. Thanks as always for the vids, man. Muito obrigado, meu companherro.

So glad you're back!!! I recently learnt these 3 kicks in my capoeria class but unfortunately I'm no where near to doing them well. I can't kick very high and for the last kick, my ankle and hip mobility is so bad I can't lift my leg up at all >.< Still working on it... Also I have a hard time with my balance and stability and footing. But thanks for the inspiration!

Hey! Love ur videos! Do you have a Tip/exercise for keeping the Leg straight during the whole Meia lua du compaso, even in the endlich of the Training? My teacher always tells me to just Focus on it more. I haven't found a Mobility exercise yet where i found a more direct effect than simply Not Sitzung as much during the day....
    Thanks!

There is a capoeira kick in a video where they compare taekwomdo, capoeira, muay thai and karate... And i really want to learn that kick... The guy is on the ground and swings his whole body into a one hand handstand roundhouse type of kick... Seems good to learn sinc he starts basically from a position someome can fall into when things go wrong
