The fact that this uploaded on New Years Eve makes perfect sense Now is picking up what Then had or at least what Now still wants. And going into the next year Now is anxious for what's to come, but someone tells him "You're Excited". Basically the new year is always a mystery, but on new year's day we always try to be excited for what's to come, but we all know deep down we're more anxious and nervous than excited.
Omg thank you! I was thinking about something similar to that but I couldn’t quite get to where I wanted. This is helpful and now I can’t rest without nightmares
He’s “picking him self up” because its a new year as in new normal he takes the parts of himself only parts of him self back when he said “yeah it didn’t really work that well” he’s talking about his mistakes and he’s just trying to see what this year brings to him when a part of his “inside” rumbles he’s anxious but hes denying it hes scared like me.
Changing to become a better version of your past self is truly a gut wrenching and painful process, but it helps us better understand who we are more and more and to accept ourselves as we get better from each old dead self our new selves leave behind. Pack Light means that past had "heavy baggage" it hinted at the idea of many other underlying symptoms or issues within a person. The body scar, same from the old, cause no matter the healing, deep wounds leave scars.
Theory without all the long words. Then is the past Now is the present The character decides to stop dwelling on the past(dead then) and starts to focus on the present (Alive now) only taking the important memories with him
It’s like a representation of picking through the corpse of past you, and picking and choosing what you want so you can go into the future. At every stage of life you evolve and from that evolution comes a new you, and with every step a new corpse of your last self to pick attributes from that you want to keep or just can’t bring yourself to get rid of. It’s just my interpretation of how I feel when I watch it. It makes me think about recovering (as much as you can) from depression and just how painful that can be.
Yea, to me it feels like he's looking at past memories [or a past version of himself?] and picking stuff up to go to the future. "Pack light." Like, don't weigh yourself down with trauma or pain? "That one didn't work out so well." Something that must've happened. As much as it hurts, you can't move forward with zero memory. But can't move forward with only pain exactly. I guess fear and excitement could be mirrors. Anticipation, in negative and positive. It does look like a fever-dream, though.

It seems to be hurting the other person somehow though, hence the stabbing and blood, not to mention he’s hurting himself by being someone he’s not. I love how instead of showing the main character, stabbing himself to open himself, he just uses sounds in imagery. It really makes it to where I can almost feel it.
A kid from discord grabbed my IP and booted me offline for 10 minutes. My parents used the same WiFi and didn’t know I had discord so I had horrible anxiety I never had before. I couldn’t sleep and when I did I even tried to tell myself I was happy. But I wasn’t.
Yee Haw Your joking, but I actually agree. People act like a ball dropping is going to magically instill the determination needed to better themselves. It doesn’t. It’s better to make changes without making it feel special, because then, when you inevitably fall off, it’s much easier to jump back on at any point.
Ngl but yes!! I agree but it'll be a tough budget and Jack has to do lots of body movement to come up with stuff. Like back flips and such. XD he is going to be very lively
Why can't people be happy with what it is. Someone always wants an extended version or a video game or a horror movie. Bunch of ungrateful demanding shitlarks.
@@wolfie1703 what would that mean? like, why would he need the clock? and why didn't it work out well? Sorry for all the questions, I'm not the brightest person lol
This is my favorite Jack Stauber video by far. The perfect representation of pain, the denial of anxiety, and the "pack light" sign- it's all just so good!
It took me exactly 4 years for me to understand what "pack light" meant. I kept thinking they meant "pack/get a light" but its "don't get too many things". Can't believe it took me that long, I've use that phrase myself...
remembering your experiences in the “then” you. choosing which ones to carry forward and remember that are dear to you. (the heart.) but also acknowledging the bad ones. you bring them along too, because they’re what made you learn. / acknowledging the time passed. (the clock) “pack lightly” meaning, don’t dwell on the then or the now. focus more on the present. the empty spot in which the “now” you thinks is anxiety that the caption says “you’re excited” backwards... that i think is the exhilaration of moving forward. it isn’t really excitement, but you don’t feel as if it’s anxiety either. you tell yourself it’s excitement. but it is backwards because you are still uncertain. that’s what i got, at least. edit: some spelling and grammar errors cuz i’m a poopyhead and typed this hella fast
The DM: The imp lays before you, having been slaughtered in its birthday suit. Me: I loot the body. DM: It's not wearing anything. Me: And? DM: .... (Sigh) ... Roll investigation.

my interpretation is that the corpse is the same guy as the walking one, just that the corpse is what is about to be his past self from this year. when the guy commits organ steal he's seeing what feelings, or maybe even traits, that he should take into the next year. the clock may be symbolizing his internal clock, like he's abandoning harmful habits? (sleep or eating problems, maybe?) either way, it still hurts to make the incision and move on from the past year. and then at the end when he is apparently not anxious, but excited, it might be because he "packed light" and didn't carry as many vices or baggage. mayyybe. (or a mix of anxiety and excitement, though, just labeling it as the latter for a better outlook) could very well be wrong but yknow!
There's no wrong answers, that's what makes a Jack Stauber video feel weird. It's also nice to see how different peoples lives change their perspective on what a video could mean
Yeah, seeing that part where he asked "anxious?" But it told him he was excited... i get like that. I have such extreme anxiety that i cant just be excited anymore, i have to worry too. Theyre one in the same for me.
my theory: since we're into the new year, he feels the need to "reinvent" himself. So he needs to a analyze how he felt in 2019 and try to see the pros and cons of that time. in 2020 he maybe wants to be open about how he feels (???) and take the positive feelings that he'll need from now on
I agree with your theory. To add on, I think he's scavenging the parts he wants to keep and throws out what he thinks doesn't work (like the clock). Problem is, since he doesn't take everything, even the broken parts, he now feels empty, and in that emptiness is anxiousness. But the thoughts in his head (the reverse text he reads) convinces him he's excited, not anxious. I belive this whole thing shows how leaving parts of yourself behind can lead to sadness, and pain.
@@oliveclov373 Play on words work best when, the two different things your trying to associate have the same, or at least similar meanings. my theory: i think jack is telling that if u die u can only bring you're heart (feelings, memories) and books(you're knowledge) so it tells to pack light cause once u die u cannot bring all your belongings in the after life, when he grabs the clock he says '''it really doesn't work that well'' i think jack pointing here is that time is endless in the afterlife but he still bring it because he is still not ready for the afterlife i think he needed more time to spend his ''time'' so the anxious is appearing from his inner but the system tells him that he's excited even though we can see the looks in his face. Jack Stauber is messing with my mind
theory: the dead guy is the old him and he’s trying to get stuff he needs to carry himself into the new year and he’s really anxious about it, but he’s telling himself he’s just excited i don’t know if this is right or if anyone has made this theory yet but it’s here edit: holy fric where’d y’all come from
I perceive this to be an interpretation of coping in humans. Many may experience a trauma or significant event that can "break" an individual, often resulting in a disorder or mental illness. This greatly affects their functionality, hence, the "THEN" body laying lifeless. The "NOW" is the coping mechanism. "PACK LIGHT" literally means "lessen your burdens". Relinquish parts of yourself deemed undesirable and keep the necessities. But in doing so, you erase periods of time, the choices made, and the consequences associated with the significant events that influence your perspective on life; and your beliefs define your personality and character - beliefs shaped by experience. This is extrapolated by the questionable void that occupies the missing components in the "NOW" body. Yes, you are functional "now", but how much of your past still exists? Punchline: "NOW" version struggles to cope with the anxiety of self-identity and dismisses it as mere optimistic, excitement.
I kinda see it as a more positive thing, like hes let go of past burdens and has room for new feelings, and is excited about it. I am pretty drunk though so idk man hehe

Your joking, but I actually agree. People act like a ball dropping is going to magically instill the determination needed to better themselves. It doesn’t. It’s better to make changes without making it feel special, because then, when you inevitably fall off, it’s much easier to jump back on at any point.

what i love about this is that it feels like jack going back to his roots.

They are cries for help. He needs more support^^
That's what I felt like the video good luck chasing your mind is about
i think only partly, the rest is just him making stuff, also no one sees jacks stuff as a joke w hat-
Thats a way of expressing "new year, new me" I guess.
remembering your experiences in the “then” you. choosing which ones to carry forward and remember that are dear to you. (the heart.)
but also acknowledging the bad ones. you bring them along too, because they’re what made you learn. / acknowledging the time passed. (the clock)
“pack lightly” meaning, don’t dwell on the then or the now. focus more on the present.
the empty spot in which the “now” you thinks is anxiety that the caption says “you’re excited” backwards... that i think is the exhilaration of moving forward. it isn’t really excitement, but you don’t feel as if it’s anxiety either. you tell yourself it’s excitement. but it is backwards because you are still uncertain.
that’s what i got, at least.
edit: some spelling and grammar errors cuz i’m a poopyhead and typed this hella fast
U the goat
If you write the events scripted, using the characters as then and now, the meaning is clear and concise
It’s backward because it’s facing the person

my interpretation is that the corpse is the same guy as the walking one, just that the corpse is what is about to be his past self from this year.
when the guy commits organ steal he's seeing what feelings, or maybe even traits, that he should take into the next year. the clock may be symbolizing his internal clock, like he's abandoning harmful habits? (sleep or eating problems, maybe?)
either way, it still hurts to make the incision and move on from the past year.
and then at the end when he is apparently not anxious, but excited, it might be because he "packed light" and didn't carry as many vices or baggage. mayyybe. (or a mix of anxiety and excitement, though, just labeling it as the latter for a better outlook)
could very well be wrong but yknow!
There's no wrong answers, that's what makes a Jack Stauber video feel weird. It's also nice to see how different peoples lives change their perspective on what a video could mean
i like thid, exactly what i thought
My brother thought this, too, and I agree :0
Yeah, seeing that part where he asked "anxious?" But it told him he was excited... i get like that. I have such extreme anxiety that i cant just be excited anymore, i have to worry too. Theyre one in the same for me.
Everyone: he is the Messiah!
The person who said this: yeah I guess
my theory:
since we're into the new year, he feels the need to "reinvent" himself.
@@nadamada8328 I absolutely agree!

I mean they don’t call it a body “cavity” for nothing.
you do know that 'cavity' in "cavity search" isn't referring to the body right?
@@caleb1031 you do know that was a play on words as a joke, right?
@@oliveclov373 Play on words work best when, the two different things your trying to associate have the same, or at least similar meanings. In this case op was associating the chest cavity with the literal body bag in the video. The first thing I thought of was a cavity search. you just unlocked one of the weirdest memories i’ve ever had.
I've actually paid for the game because of your comment and I'm a bit disapointed :(
my theory:
i think jack is telling that if u die u can only bring you're heart (feelings, memories) and books(you're knowledge) so it tells to pack light cause once u die u cannot bring all your belongings in the after life, when he grabs the clock he says '''it really doesn't work that well'' i think jack pointing here is that time is endless in the afterlife but he still bring it because he is still not ready for the afterlife i think he needed more time to spend his ''time'' so the anxious is appearing from his inner but the system tells him that he's excited even though we can see the looks in his face. Jack Stauber is messing with my mind
theory: the dead guy is the old him and he’s trying to get stuff he needs to carry himself into the new year
and he’s really anxious about it, but he’s telling himself he’s just excited
i don’t know if this is right or if anyone has made this theory yet but it’s here
edit: holy fric where’d y’all come from
I think you're on to something
@@joshuabernardo4305 beautiful, damn.
