      I wholeheartedly agree, the world records in both the 100m and 200m were invincible for over 30 years and looked to stay that way for many more. until outta nowhere in the span of 2 years Elaine Thompson and Shericka Jackson just said "nuh-uh" LOL and now women's sprinting has come alive , I can even see Sha'carri getting 10.5s or lower in the future. plus I'm also interested to see what Syndey can do in the flat 400m once she's firing on all cylinders.

    Shericka Jackson's primary focus for this season has been the 200m and more specifically attempting to break the world record.
    Her combat with Sha'Carri Richardson over 100m has been competitive and is definitely helping her speed work, but lowering her 200m times towards breaking the WR is clearly the prize she wants above all else .....every 100m podium position she secures this season is an added bonus

    • @Shoggy56
      @Shoggy56 10 месяцев назад +1

      And Sha'Carri Richardson's primary focus is clearly on the 100 meters so let's not make excuses for Shericka's 'loss' here. They are both track queens in their specialty. Kudos to both of them.

    • @merfibeemused
      @merfibeemused 10 месяцев назад +3

      @@Shoggy56 Of course and I totally agree that's what Sha Carri's main focus is, the 100m. But the point of my post wasn't about the 100m, but the 200m because that's what Shericka Jackson said is her main focus this season, she believes (rightly or wrongly) that she can break the 200m WR and her training has been specifically geared towards that one goal.
      Sha Carri Richardson is a brilliant sprinter but she's not specifically aiming to break the 100m WR this season, she's aiming to show that she's the best/fastest woman on the planet over 100m this season....and she's making a clear statement of that fact.
      Shericka definitely wants to beat Sha Carri over 100m but it's still not the primary focus because she knows she's in the best form of her career so as to attempt to break the 200m WR, she has zero chance of breaking the 100m WR season .... if ever.
      Sha Carri definitely has the potential to do it in a future season if she can keep progressing as she is currently doing 👍🏾

Also, Elaine Thompson is quickly coming back to form and on paper is the second fastest woman of all times at the 100m (10.54); let’s also note the fact that she has run 10.65s or better 4 times already in her career.
      Sha’Carri has all the potential in the world and I’m happy to see her evolve. But to say no one is coming close… is quite the stretch. Especially considering she only won the final by .07 over Shericka.

    Shericka does not care about the 100m. That's Elaine's thing, but she's not in the best shape this season. If she really wanted to she could really give a run for the money. But she's focused on the 200m. Rightfully so.

      @sunshinepeace I disagree. I believe she's trying to not injure herself. After she breaks the record I'm excited to see what happens next. Both their fastest time in the 100m is 10.65. Tied 5th fastest women of all time, right now. It's obvious where both their focuses are. Who can beat Sha'carri in her best shape is Elaine Thompson Herah. She's not in the best shape this year, but her fastest 100m time set at the last olympics was 10.54 second only in history to Flo Jo's 10.49. She's the second fastest woman of all time. But I'm Happy for Sha'carri this is her time to shine, way to make a comeback.

      @@harleyb-ham266 I would like to remind you to remember that track 'meet' is American English, and track 'meeting' is British & Commonwealth English. There are plenty of words/phrases that are spelled, termed, delivered different in British English compared to American English, to name a few: recognise (UK)/ recognize (USA), rubber(UK)/ eraser(USA), truck(USA)/ lorry(UK). I am from a commonwealth country [South Africa] whereby we are taught English according to the UK standard, so even in my country we call it an 'Athletics meeting' (we don't even mention: 'track' standalone, if they do get specific they usually say 'Track & Field meeting'). In America you guys just yell 'Track meet', and call it a day. So yes the British commentator 'Tim Hutchings' is absolutely correct in saying 'meeting' record.

    We all know ShaCarri isnt' breaking flo jo time. The real elephant in ther room is that Shericka COULD actually do it if that was her focus. However, its likely Shericka CAN break the 200 for sure AND the 100 (if she focuses on that one). Whats very unlikely is for Sha-carri to ever break flo-jos 100m and she definitely doesn't have any stamina for the 200. lol Enjoy it while it last.
