Yeah it can take a long time tbh, can also be frustrating when you feel like you're not being you because you're doing it for numbers. I've been there and done it, it doesn't last long.
@@BenKaluza I think fully expressing myself in the camera instead of scripting word for word. Also brand identity, I love tech but I'm also mainly a cinematographer so I showcase and do videography content. And I kinda want to hit the 3 genre of content but it's hard: entertainment, educational, and inspirational. I keep losing numbers when I keep changing my genre.
Love what you’re sharing and it’s so true! I realized I’m a multidimensional person but didn’t know how to show that in my different social media. I used to be hostess of a video game show and I appeared as a very enthusiastic & energetic person, I used to stream as well and loved every part of it, but on my tiktok & instagram I am super calm & just sharing mental health content & wellness content. I love talking about video games, mental health, photography & traveling, each one of them lets out a different part of my personality & hearing you helped me clear out my ideas and focus on each one of them in different platforms ❤ that’s genius! Hadn’t occurred to me before haha. I’m really connecting with this side of you here on YT.
Whenever I'm on camera I feel like I need to be a coach or a figure someone can turn to, and I like that, I enjoy helping others and finding solutions to problems, so I 100% agree, if I had to be this shouty, over the top creator, my real personality would always poke out and I just wouldn't be able to maintain that at all. Very good video Ben 👊
yeah I get you. I think it depends on the content you create. Like I said in the video content-personality fit is so important and can sometimes take time to find and optimise
Ben, I feel very similar to you in regards to speaking with passion and I appreciate you making this video.. If I was to be honest I would love to see educational videos on your channel as well as the inspiration, I think both are so valuable and your video on making the spreadsheet with ideas was so incredibly helpful so I know you could really make a big difference
Hey thanks for the feedback. Yeah my plan is to also integrate more educational stuff into this style I’m just trying to figure out how to do it. I could just sit at my desk like I use to, but I certainly don’t want to just do this forever I’d like more of a mix, I just been leaning into this recently as it’s getting my channel off the ground
People don't find me interesting or engage with me, That said, before I started I had not been in front of a camera (video or still) in over 40 years so I am pretty sure I come across uncomfortable.
Im recently back to taking my channel seriously in the last month or so and I am keeping my niche super loose. Being a creative of over 25 years makes me sway towards design and what I do in my day to day, BUT I am a natural procrastinator and free thinker so when I step up to my RUclips stage I feel that I have an overwhelming need to show excitement for my subject. This means I have to be invested in what I am preaching and provide a pure and true account to my audience. This I think has stood me in good stead on my way in creating long form content. I m still shying away from short form content as I feel I'm far more methodical in what I do and struggle to slice my content down to this. Totally blown away by some of my early successes but I know I need to pick these apart and analyse if I am going to find that consistent success point to keep delivering.
Ben, as always you're spirit is strong. The connection is clear. Your inspiration will be the reason I get my shit 2gether and free my soul. I have a story 2 tell.
This is amazing advice! We started about a month ago and are growing slowly. I can definitely see a HUGE difference in how we were from the first video to now. That first one was CRINGY!! At the end of the day, we are who we are and we created our channel to help others and that's what we will continue to try to do. We will always be authentic, even though we know we're not for everyone. But we are for someone and that's what matters. Thank you for this video. I LOVE your set up. Very soothing.
Thank you for the kind words. It can be extremely difficult finding who you want to be in camera. It just takes time to find the right balance with different sides of your personality and your energy,
Regardless of your personality, there are people who feel comfortable connecting with your real personality. Connecting with such an audience helps you build a community around people you can relate with. Being real and authentic helps you have a stable flow in your video and you won't have to struggle to key into character, it will flow naturally.
Hi Ben, totally agree with what you are saying. How would you recommend showing the sides of my personality through short form content. I am posting my fitness journey but feel so stuck in that niche and want to express myself on camera but dont know where to start. Loving the videos, keep it up!😀
I would recommend maybe starting a different account in a different niche your passionate about. I've done so many side quests to try and find which of my passions I enjoy creating the content on the most and which most suits my personality.
Hey mate, I’m a carpenter here in Australia and I was wondering if you’ve got a game plan to get into a bit of branding and partnership work without looking like a sellout?
Stick to promoting stuff you believe in and is genuinely valuable to your audience. You're only a sellout if your promoting things people don't really want and isnt that valuable imo
Really good point. And am curious, do you record in that lighting OR do this in post? If you record like this, Looks so nice. Why dont more people do this? How do you do your lighting. Thanks so much!
@@BenKaluza inspiring. I'm going to play with my lighting again cause in winter here in Denmark oh there are many hours of darkness and it looks awful in my vids. I never thought to go dark in the vids instead. love this idea. thanks
Wondering; could you still deliver, present, speak with your hands tied behind your back? 😊😂. I notice talking with hands is done by lots of Tubers, me too. Working on my First video. Just found you. Nice calm style 😊
Hey Ben, I totally agree on this and yes it's a process on finding your identity on the camera.

@@enerico What are struggling with? Finding the version of you that feels like you but also is engaging enough for the videos you make ?

I keep losing numbers when I keep changing my genre.
When we learn we are the niche the creativity flows freely!!!
I agree, but it's scary positioning yourself as the niche when you first start out. A lot of people have imposter syndrome
@@BenKaluza I hear that. I have like 3 videos... lol ok maybe 2

Still only watched the first 1:30 but the “are you happy showing up on camera”-line earned my like.
