Girl all I can say is I feel for you and clearly you have alot of things up in the air. I honestly think y'all need to have a true heart to heart about the correct breed for your family and the correct timing. That way you save yourself from the revolving door of heartbreak and don't compound the stress you already have.

Shawnee it’s going to be okay , it’s tough ... life brings you tough obstacles and I’ve been in a similar situation where you are in a state where you don’t have family or friends. Stay positive you’ll see the light trough the tunnel. We all go through stuff here and there but you have to hang on to yourself and the things you love and want in life that’s what’s going to get you through these obstacles.

Hey Shawnee, I can’t imagine how you feel. When I first got my dog I spent a week crying. I was so close to returning him to the shelter because I felt extremely overwhelmed and I was thinking about HIM and HIS future and was wondering if maybe he deserves a better family with a huge yard, living in a farm. I read in fb groups about the puppy blues. It’s a thing, and I feel like getting a dog will never feel like the right time. It will always feel like the same thing but try to remember that both you and the dog are getting used to each other. It takes dogs 3 months typically for them to adjust. I’ve had my dog for 6 months now and already there’s a huge difference. Also, if you guys don’t have much time to have an active dog, try to get maybe a “lazier” breed so it’ll feel better for you and Evan, and you did a great thing in choosing a dog the second time and not a puppy. I really hope that works out for you two in the future. I’m so sorry you had to experience that, I can’t imagine the hurt. Thinking of you ❤️

Girl same. My baby boy had major explosive diarrhea on and off for a few weeks after adopting him and also had major separation anxiety and fear of other dogs and new places. I was required by the rescue I adopted him from to take him to obedience classes and he would literally cry the whole 45 minutes of the class. I would sit in my car bawling my eyes out after every class because I felt like I was failing. But I pushed through all of it because I knew that dogs like him (American Staffordshires) don't get alot of second chances and I couldn't fail him. 8 years later he's still a little shit from time to time but definitely worth it. Not everyone is wired for animal rescue. They can have the best intentions but it does take a certain level of perseverance to push through those really rough times.

I definitely appreciate this kind of content, it’s relatable! I gained 20 lbs & I’ve been super bummed about it. I just started trying to get back into a routine & eating healthier.
