You are totally right. I say that all the time to people who would like to have peace by Ukraine giving up territories. This war is not only about the future of Ukraine, but about an important principle in international relationships. As a German I would like to remind all Russians why the Soviet Union, the US, the UK and France court-martialed the Nazis. It were the same reasons for which Putin and his cronies should be court-martialed today: preparing an aggressive war, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

"Kievan Rus', also known as Kyivan Rus', was the first East Slavic state and later an amalgam of principalities in Eastern Europe from the late 9th to the mid-13th century. Encompassing a variety of polities and peoples, including East Slavic, Norse, and Finnic, it was ruled by the Rurik dynasty, founded by the Varangian prince Rurik. The name was coined by Russian historians in the 19th century to describe the period when Kiev was at the center. At its greatest extent in the mid-11th century, Kievan Rus' stretched from the White Sea in the north to the Black Sea in the south and from the headwaters of the Vistula in the west to the Taman Peninsula in the east, uniting the East Slavic tribes. *You want the truth: Ukraine, which signed the UN charter, does not exist after the coup d'état on February 22, 2014* .
🤫On February 22, 2014, deputies of the Parliament of Ukraine ignored Article 111 of the Constitution of Ukraine (impeachment), which would have allowed to preserve the statehood and territorial integrity of Ukraine, they neglected the rule of law and democracy, making a coup d'état. Bypassing the Constitution during the change of power is a coup d'état, after which a new Constitution is needed to restore statehood. Now you understand that the disintegration of Ukraine did not happen out of nowhere.
🤫Article 111 of the Constitution of Ukraine (impeachment) includes treason, that is, an act committed by a citizen intentionally to the detriment of sovereignty and territorial integrity. When President Yanukovych did not appear at the workplace without valid reasons for a certain period of time, he could be legally charged with treason. The removal of the president bypassing the Constitution is a coup d'état, after which a new Constitution is needed to restore statehood.
🍋Restoring the rule of law is a new Constitution for the restoration of Ukraine's statehood.
🍋Restoring the rule of law means the confiscation of the property of officials of the Zelensky and Poroshenko regimes, the prohibition of these officials from holding public positions.
_Help restore democracy and the rule of law in the territories of the former Ukraine._

This choice is illusory, because living under russian peace is like being under attack. Many of us in eastern europe already surrendered to Russia at some point in time, lived through the experience, and would advise against it.
My own country surrendered both in 1939 when Russia started the WW2 by invading us together with Germany, and then in 1945 when they ended the war opposing Germany. During Russian occupation after WW2, we lost more civilians than during the nazi occupation. Same happened to Ukraine. The germans that surrendered to us or western powers, lived to see the end of the war. Germans that surrendered to Russia were mostly 'liquidated', like many Ukrainian POW's are right now. There is peace and there is 'russian peace', in no way similar.
