Yes it work I have one and do plenty untreated room recordings. It's a clear difference from day and night.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Carlos, this video has given me "clarity" i need to shop no further. I appreciate you being hella thorough and sticking to the topic therein.
I appreciate that
Alcotron have licensed the PF8 to Studio Spares in the UK for them to use with their own brand. It's called the Studio Spares Iso Cube. It's just a different name on the pop shield. In a small room it works like a charm. In a larger room you probably need to put up a room divider and hang some duvets or blankets over it. I just got mine so I'm going to try it out properly on a project tomorrow
The intro finished me let’s talk about this guy
Very Helpful. I agree with everything you said through my Sony MDR 7506 headphones listening on my cell phone through RUclips. $50 bubble does a great job when using that microphone in that room. I do like the sound of the room with your voice through the shotgun as well, more natural and fits the environment that matches the video. The Neuman does a great job of capturing super crystal clear audio and you just can’t tell what kind of room it’s in. You continue to provide very informative videos for me thank you very much.
Thanks Tom
Dope review .... but tbh if you need a FREE OPTION 4 isolation all you need is a full coat closet or fill it with blankets .... btw the type of mic 🎙 and preamp matters the most !!! When reducing noise.
Good review , I've had mine for a month or so and it definitely makes a difference in my untreated ( other than furniture and rugs ) room but it does have a bit of a " boxy sound " overall I rec. especially for its price point .
Where did you purchase the Alcatron Pop Filter?!
Great review, I was using an SE isolation shield which was very good for recording. I just purchased a new mic stand today that clamps onto my table, one that has the scissor arms/ suspension so I can freely move the mic away from me when I'm not using it. Unfortunately the isolation shield is too heavy for the stand to hold up. I need something that will block out outer noise and this seems like just what I need. Thanks for your review! 🔥💯.
the mic pickup pattern may be the only think you have to consider with that new setup.
Same situation I’m currently in as I just sold my SE iso pro, it served me well for years but I now want the flexibility of recording vox at my desk using a mounted arm swivel stand so this will be great for my applications.
Looking forward to purchasing this product and putting it to work !
🙏🏾💪🏽👍🏽
Sounds closed in, obviously because it is.
It sounds like the difference between open back headphones and closed.
I prefer to hear a bit of the room, just sounds more natural.
Crazy prayingmantis that’s my thoughts exactly when I made a dyi ball... the voice sound tiny compared to my bed foamed closet...
That doesn't work well for recording vocals for music production, especially if the audio engineer is planning on using any sort of processing or pitch correction. The recording needs to be as dry as possible, and reverb is added back in afterwards along with any further processing.
Depends on what you are going for. For music and podcast room sound is not a desired trait in a recording
I've been looking for a good review on this, looks like I finally found it. Liked and subscribed, fantastic work Carlos.
Thanks 🙏🏽 👊🏽
The quality i exceptional both in your visual, comparison and audio
U have a big boy mic right there neuman 107🔥
it's a great mic
Kaotica Eyeball is a product that is price gouged by a very, very, greedy company. I have this Alctron PF8 and it does an amazing job at a much more reasonable price.
FirstTenor76 totally agree. I have this one too and it works great.
Can it work on a room that is not sound proof
Yes I don't have any sound proofing and it works great
You may want to use your best set of headphones for this one...
Hi sir, I stay close to a market. I did not pad my home studio Bc Of space. Can this help? I score films and sing for theme songs. Can this cut off background noise for me. Ie after closing the windows and doors ?
I would love to see a .wav audio file comparison..
ok, I'll work on getting you this hopefully by the end of the week.
Without the pf8 you hear more ssss high. With it holds back to ssss. And with the made cover for your mic made your vocals a little darker.
I like the added isolation and slight removal of the room that I get out of the PF8
I think with the Alcatron PF8 the sound is more muffled and less natural. Neumann mics are so good you would probably just go good with a pop filter and leave the back opened. Great video Carlos
thank you
@@carlosq00 I just recorded on the PF8 for the first time & i was using a box around my mic with a little foam before. still a HUGE difference. I feel like It's way more clear, BUT picks up more of the mid & low tones so EQ may be needed for recording purposes. i have a lot of low frequencies in my voice. It adds warmth that gets lost in an "open" environment, but not really mud. If someone bumps up the 2-5 frequency, sweeps below 100 & dips down at about 250, it will sound pretty clear.
Nautica eyeball 😅 nice vid man!
Man, I love your jacket.
thanks
There are two things to consider with the sound in this demo. What the Electron does as a simple pop filter, and what it does as an "isolation" device. Certainly it helped with Carlos's p-popping, but in terms of the isolation itself, this room is very quiet and the Electron seemed to add a low mid coloration to the sound. It still sounds very nice and can certainly be EQd in post to sound terrific, but the Electron does color the tone. His particular room is so quiet that I think it makes the mic sound worse (although he should use a standard pop filter for his plosives).
Great video, your room didn't sound too noisy. I would have loved if you could have created some room noise to show if the filters blocked out that. I ask because I have a noisy office that I am trying to record in with PC fans going that keep being picked up. I am hoping the Alctron or Kaotica Eyeball will block out those sounds.
its a reflection filter not a sound proofing device.
Thank you brother for an insightful review.
Thank you
Thank you, I was pondering buying this vs Kaotica. Your video convinced me. Great job!
Thank you, sir. Your review was very helpful for me because I have had some doubts before buying pf8.
Glad it helped do share your thoughts once you’ve given it a try.
dom1k3 yo u can get this on eBay for like 10 bucks cheaper then like usual price everywhere just a thought
@@carlosq00 hi again! Sorry for late answer :)
Yes, I gave it a try, but after some thoughts I've decided to buy the pf8 pro instead of pf8 (if regular pf8 is a foam ball, then pf8pro is a bucket with foam inside). First of all, I want to say that my room actually is not treated (reverberations and such things), and pf8pro didn't help in this case. After that I tryed to record in a closet (clothes, pillows, and blankets are good sound proofing material). In that case I've heard some significant improvement in sounding, but there was some annoying boxiness. BUT interesting fact -- when I added pf8pro to closet recordings, the sound has become much clearer. Boxiness gone away.
In general, think this thing couldn't help in absolute untreated room, but still could be very useful in closets and semi treated rooms.
Need more videos like this
extremely helpful, thank you!
Gracias hermano...creo que voy a comprar.
"I just popped a P" lmao
Thanks for this review!
👊🏽🙏🏽
Thank you! Really appreciate the vid.
Pop smoke used that for make it rain that’s all you need to know this is legit Buh it better be cheap
ok
Carlos Quintero ok
😂😂. LONGLIVEPOP✊
Mastah William wrd 😭
lol Faxx
So, there was no Gate/Expander in your signal chain at all? It almost sounds too quiet with and without the filter for a room that is supposedly not as treated as a proper booth. If not, you have an EXCELLENT room and you don’t give it enough credit lol. Thanks for the review.
no gate and no expander, the sound went straight into the mic preamp.
I like how you say ALCOtron :D. Nice review. Just ordered one for myself. Eyeball is so overpriced it's insane. 200 bucks for what is basically glorified piece of foam rubber and pop filter? No, thank you.
how was it? didn’t sound muffled? Like gripping a handheld mic by mouth piece ala rappers.
Hi Carlos! Where did you purchase the Alctron Pop Filter!? I can’t seem to find a distributor.. Walmart was the only place that popped up, but. It sure if it’s the same pop filter although it does have the name on it! Wanted to double check before purchasing!! Thank you! Appreciate you!!
I think I bought mine directly from their website...if you want a used one, send me a DM and I will coordinate and send you mine.
my room is echo (u know like a bathroom). do this product work not to have echoed vocals?
This will likely not help much at all in your situation.
@@carlosq00 thanks for the reply. I'm skipping the idea of buying it. If it's possible can I take you recommendation what to do to stop the echo in the room to have clear vocal records for the songs
Great video and demo, i just ordered one.
cool thanks for watching
where did you order from, if you don't mind my asking?
Just got his today in the mail let’s see if works
keep me posted
Carlos Quintero it works great and I can hear the difference in the room it lessen the room noise
Dope I use that on my channel! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
💯
I am using the Scarlett Studio CM25 MkIII condenser microphone to record R&B Music. Do you think this will work? I am using an untreated room. I also have a Halo, however, I want the Alctron to bring on the road with me.
Can the circle screen be reversed on the Alcatron? Those logo are very distracting haha.
unfortunately no it can't...
Thank you 🙌🏽
see idk how you put that thing on cause I have the same mic and shock mount and my capsule gets covered
I did force push the Alctron into the shockmout so that I could see the mic capsule. Not perfect because of the shock mount but it also didn't affect the quality at least not to my ears.
Thank You!!! Great Review!!!! Like + A New Sub..... Gracias Carlos!
Thanks for this review. Do you think it will fit over a blue yeti usb mic?
+koffee yes...
Good review
Thanks for da review i was planning on gettin da eyeball but i came across dis & its seems like it functions da same for abouy half da price
Bro my shockmount is hella big and doesn’t allow me to slide the ball all the way on my mic?!
It’s cool if it just rests on top of the Shockmount kinda floating freely
If I have some isolation panels and a windscreen behind my microphone, would Alctron PF8 make any difference?? Nice video btw
Thanks and probably not
@@carlosq00 thanks! :-D
Where can I buy
Will this fit my MXL 770, MXL 440, & FOCUSRITE CM25? Also, are they built to use in rooms that aren’t soundproof? I live in an apartment building and would like to start recording again and wanted to know if the Alctron will help and make a difference?
Hey Carlos Great Review, do you have any idea that would it be suitable with Rode NT1? is the mic inserting hole enough large for it?
yes it is.
@@carlosq00 Thank you
Was the alctron covering part of your microphone capsule? I’m having an issue with my Neumann Tlm 102 which is a pretty small mic, the filter covers part of the microphone. Please let me know if you know of any solutions for this!
it was not, because I forced the foam down past the mic capsule.
just got one thanks for the video . i think its going to work well with my home studio especially recording vocals on my song demo's
I subscribed to you
🙏🏽👊🏽👍🏽
Hi there! is amazing your review, very complete! Where can i buy a original Alctron PF8? already loking for that in ebay but i dont trust in Chinese sellers. Thanks!!
Here is a link to where you can pick one up from Amazon. amzn.to/2tnk1VV
im using a Rode NT1-A,( I swear by it) Do you think this will be sufficient enough in a finished basement with 2 rooms conjoined? the acoustic treatment for my space will be rather extensive. and expensive (word play lol) looking into alternatives
I think this will help some but you may want to hang some sound blankets in front and on the sides of where you will be using the microphone eliminate reflections and room tone.
can i use for focusrite microphone ?
I think I have too good ears or it's a RUclips Problem but I hear Noise on my Smartphone, on my Pc and on my Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro.
And I hear a Ground Loop.
That’s interesting I will have to watch this on my other devices...
But still better than my Art Tube MP USB Audio Interface my Noise Level is at -40db 😂
So if you can recommend a special Tipp in Usb Audio Interfaces my Ears are open.
The sound devices mixpre series can be used as USB Audio Interface...this is probably a great question for +Curtis Judd
Carlos Quintero Oh nice! Thanks for the Answer!
I can use this filter to the blue yeti microphone 🎙️?
Yes, but the fact that the Yeti is a condenser microphone may mean that you still get a lot of room tone.
How is it with singing? Recommended?
the mic's sensitivity is reduced a bit so i'm not sure artist like that.
This is really comforting to hear. The Kaotica Eyeball is eye wateringly priced. How does this compare with the Studiosace IsoCube or is it much of muchness?
Honestly I think the mic pre amp makes a bigger difference
Is this compatible with usb microphones?
If the microphone fits into the opening and you can speak into the side not top, I would say yes.
Carlos Quintero thank you 🙏
Samson C01u and AT2020 usb both fit perfectly. Blue Yeti kinda fat but from what I know it fits too.
Didnt know key and peele is heeeere!!
Can it fit through an audio technica?
I'm hoping it does
there is zero ambient noise registering in your microphone even when its naked. only thing i hear the Alctron did for you was be a pop filter.. Need to test in a room with reflection / ambient noise.
Maybe time for a take two
What kind of preamp you use? I have one in my interface for recording vocals that enough?
I use the Sound Devices MixPre3 and as long as the mic preamps are great, the interface should be enough.
@@carlosq00 I have the Tascam Series 102i
200$ for a piece of foam is nuts I got the Alcatron
it is...
Anyone compared this to the Pro version?
they both perform similar...
Maybe take it off and listen to compare.
That room in treated
semi treated, yes
what pre amp r u using
+Shawn Waters MixPre-3
sounds like you're denoising it tho
I didn't
@@carlosq00 must be the RUclips compression. You can hear a slight difference tho
please make it simple next time.... too much talk for a simple test, but thanks for the video anyway
I don't think that I will be reviewing any audio gear in the future on this channel.
Why do you have PF8 Pro in your video title when you dont have it, wtf is this
Are you serious? 🤔 that huge piece of foam and wind screen that covers up the microphone is the actual Alctron PF8
Thats the PF8, not the PF8 Pro, sorry for seeming like an asshole though. You should change your title to be more accurate
wataloopus I agree this is PF8 not PF8 pro
Does it fit a p220
Akg p220?
