Hi! I grew up using the ACE curriculum K-12th grade, so I’m very familiar with it. My 4 kids attended a Christian school that used ACE for the last ten years (depending on their age). This year, for a variety of reasons, we have decided to homeschool. I have a 9th grader, 7th, 5th, and 3rd. The transition to homeschooling was very easy. Although the curriculum is very familiar to me, homeschooling is new, so I’ve been watching RUclips videos of homeschoolers. There’s definitely a lot of interesting resources out there! We’re going to stick primarily with ACE, again because I know it so well, and I had a great experience with it as a student. However, I agree with you on some of your points. I’ve said many of the same things over the years. I always felt ACE was strong in English, Math, and Etymology (word building). A lot of the science and social studies is strong, too, especially the Christian perspectives. However, I have also noticed outdated curriculum. That is a big weakness for history and current events. For example, last year my son who was in 4th grade at the time learned that Queen Elizabeth was the Queen of England. I explained to him the current turn of events that she had passed and now it was her son King Charles. I personally really enjoyed chemistry as a student. But I understand what you’re saying. No hands on experiments. My oldest daughter wants to be a vet so those subjects are very important to her. My plan is to have her take some of those subjects at a local community college. That way she can satisfy high school and general ed college requirements at the same time and get hands on experience. Also, I can guide her in a Christian perspective from home through the secular worldview she’ll be presented with at school. Just thought I’d share some thoughts. Thank you!
Have you used their new biology curriculum? I heard that it was really good, the labs are detailed and free. I was thinking about using that next year (it was recommended by Heart of Dakota).
I wanted to ask the same thing. I'm looking at ordering it too. It says 4th edition so I would think it would be up to date and revised. Have you discovered anything about this since you asked this question? If so I'd love to know your thoughts.

Thanks for sharing your perspective! Sounds like you have a good plan on getting the courses you need.

No, I didn't know they had a new one. I'll have to look into it. We did Berean Builders for Biology this year.

@kimberlyparr9910 I would maybe call A.C.E.s customer service number and ask which year the 4th edition was updated.
@@kimberlyparr9910 the younger grades 4th editions started in 2009 and the older grades were released in 2016 and 2020.
