hey great job with these "making a song" videos. feels like the perfect videos for me where I am in my music journey. the perfect length, simple, good music, instructional. checks a lot of boxes for me. I appreciate your work.
dude i looooove how it all comes together in the chorus. the melody is so soothing and reminds me of the band Jadu Heart. so dreamy. d’ahh! love it. great song. fucking rocks.
Thanks for Sharing your knowledge and sensibility, I was looking for a simple and yet complete guide to record Indie songs , and your channel is a gold mine. Hope you get many more sus. Greetings from Cancun, Mexico!
I haven’t released it, I’ve only kept my ideas on RUclips. I am most likely going to finish most of these and put them out. I mainly only want to release music under my name that I feel truly represents what I do, thankfully this song was one of those things.
just found your channel and i can't believe you don't have more subs/views!!! the drum production tips are amazing. quick question...do you end up quantizing your midi key drum performances at all?? also any tips on playing midi key drums in general (other than good timing and practicing)...and what keyboard controller do you use?? thank you and i will be catching everything you post
Thank you so much for the kindness. It depends on the project if I quantize or not. For the most part, yes. But for my more “indie folk” style projects I usually don’t. My only tip, of course other than a shit ton of practice, for finger drums is to get use to the keys. Getting familiar with the setup and where each drum is on your keyboard is the most important aspect. I use the Korg Microkey, it sucks but it works. I would recommend the Arturia minilab, it’s a great budget friendly option that will last. Let me know if you have any questions, a few people have been asking me about drumming on a keyboard so I’ll probably end up making a video on it
New subscriber! Great channel. Quick question (after 2 vids where you say you prefer the UK Pop clap), how many EZXs do you have and how many of them have a clap that is unique to them?
Thank you so much for checking out my stuff! I have probably around 7-8 different expansion packs. Of the ones I own, I would say besides UK Pop the Indie Folk and In the Pocket have pretty unique claps (and other AUX percussion) that totally make them worth it. The only pack I 100% regret buying is the Americana pack, big thumbs down on that one.
@TrevBarnes thanks for the reply! I just assumed those shaker/clap/tamb sounds were just the same across all the expansions. It never occurred to me to check!
9 times out of 10, drums are from EZ Drummer 3, specifically the tight room kit. I’ve dealt with my fair share of drum VST’s, but this specific pack has been the exact sound I’ve always been looking for. I run multi-channel out (typically route kick, snare, hi hat, toms, overhead, and room to separate channels) and put Slates Virtual Mix rack with a good bit of preamp saturation on each channel. Hope that helps!
@@TrevBarnes Ahh gotcha, I had actually been on a hunt for finding the drum samples used in that album and I thought maybe you found the actual kit that was used in that song.

I definitely should, maybe due for another indie folk video
@TrevBarnes those are my favorite so no arguments here
Hey! Thanks for the video. Does the diversion drumkit is native in Logic Pro ? Or is it a third party drumkit ?
Hey there! The drum sampler is a native Logic Pro plugin, however the samples I’m using are from Morph by Twenty One Pilots.
@@TrevBarnes thanks! I’ve found the stems
@@frankiekefran Awesome!
Dude awesome vid love your stuff. Have you done any videos on compression/eq would love to know more
Thank you so much. Are you wanting me to cover the concept of EQ/Compression or certain types of EQ/Compressors?
Where can i listen to your song roses? I love your song but i can’t find it 😢

awesome video. really like the vibes of this song. can you do a alternative rock song.
Thank you so much! Do you have a style or artist you'd like to see for a reference?
@@TrevBarnes maybe like imagine dragons or sueco or some new alt rocks stuff.
wow
been going thru your whole channel and i loveeee it! just curious, where do you get your drums from?

@@TrevBarnes ohhh, never thought of using a drum vst that way, interesting. thank you sooo much
Hey dude awesome production! But just curious, where did you get the Diversion Kit? Is that a custom kit that you.put together?
Thanks! I took samples from a stem of twenty one pilot's Morph. It's a combination of different sounds on the record Trench
@@TrevBarnes Ahh gotcha, I had actually been on a hunt for finding the drum samples used in that album and I thought maybe you found the actual kit that was used in that song.
Love this video man! I need to be a better producer and this is really motivating! Subbed.
