Armstrong Rotax MT500 Army bike first start in years.

- This machine had allegedly been a runner, but misfiring when put away about ten years ago and I was pointed in the direction of fuel and sparks when I began work on it, but it turned out a broken cam belt was preventing it from starting and a new one got it running again.
Hey Paul.... Those Armstrongs "ate" timing belts on a regular basis, so much so, we used to carry a spare in our pockets. Quite a good powerful machine though... Too heavy for cross country work when fully loaded up. The Army always bought strange stuff... An "off the shelf" Honda XL 500 would have been far better and more reliable. Good work.

i have an mz saxon tour 500 from 1997 same motor polybelt makes a good proper belt
and mine runs great

Sold as Sonic 500 in Canada really hard to get parts in 90's LOL! engine went in a Matchless as well with left side kick starter LOL!
