Louise Jameson took Boucher's thin outline of the Leela character and truly made it her own --nuanced and multi-layered. And she is STILL doing so this many years later for Big Finish. Wonderful actor.
Classic Who doing what Classic Who did best, gothic horror and classic mystery tropes. This story is very reminiscent of Agatha Christie murder mysteries.
No lie, my favorite Dr. Who episode. Sublime. And the design work was so classic. Amazing they could execute it on the slim budgets. So many of the eps of that era you'd have to suspend belief but these robots are iconic. On the one hand I'm sorry they've never been revisited in live-action, but I'd fear them being ruined too.
@@jakeisthedoctor2308 Did you not bother to read what I wrote? I said, "I'm sorry they've never been REVISITED in live-action." This was the Robots' first and ONLY appearance in live-action.
This Doctor Who story is so perfectly cast that every scene is re-watchable and compelling. The scene here of the Sandminer crew discussing who the murderer could be, is a case in point. Even Zilda (aside from her hysterical and tearful Uvanov accusations) holds her own. Pamela Salem and David Collings are always superb and Russell Hunter is fantastic as Uvanov.
Well the robots from the special with Kylie Minogue in it were based on these robots. But yeh these ones look way better and would love to see them again.
@@TheAllSeeingEye2468 They may own the copyright to those designs, I don't know. Many of Doctor Who's iconic characters, creatures and aliens are controlled, at least in part, by outside entities. The list includes both the robotic dog K9 and even The Daleks themselves.
Although this episode aired a few years earlier than their album and tour, I have always thought that these robots were the inspiration for the robot design that was used in the mini-movie/concert for Styx's "Kilroy Was Here" tour, and the video for their song "Mr. Roboto".
i love the voc robots. they are my no.1 pick to return, we need more robot villains and these could do wonders. i actually wrote my own story for a voc return, to sum up how i think they could come back is that in robots of death taren capel made voc robots killers, what if that order got out to other robots on kaldor? they would continue to murder with nobody to tell them to stop
Where can I buy a " Laserson Probe" ? I've been searching for decades but no store sells them. Punching a fist-sized hole through armor plate, or picking the crystals from a snowflake one by one sounds interesting.

Pity they haven't brought her back in the show yet. Along with Jamie.
@minicle426 Sadly, I have a feeling she was killed off with all the other Time Lords like in Chris Chibnall's era.
For me, The Robots of Death is the ideal Dr. Who story. Every time I re-watch it, I enjoy it.

I love the design of the robots in this classic Who story.
This is the story that introduced me to the series and got me hooked. Still magic all these years later!
In a chart of most scary Doctor Who villains, these robots are definitely on the top of the list.
One of the best stories from one of the best seasons in Classic Who!
I agree brandon mate. I watched this a few months ago and it was still real class.

Found that quite funny

1:13 - Louise's dark contact lens was falling out!
Sorry I was to busy watching her sitting on the chair. I remember being very interested in watching her as a boy.
Truly great classic who
Surprised these guys didn't comeback in the new series

What about the robots in Voyage Of The Damned? Very similar, but not similar enough to warrant a copyright payment.
@@farmbrough doctor who owns the damn robots? How would they have to pay "copyright"?

Her body is hot 🔥 🥵 😍
Brilliant story!
Witty dialogue as ever. A brilliant episode.
“ So get on your feet. And get back to work. That is an order! Give it to a robot. “
i love classic who and all ways will
I've always thought that they were very creepy
Me sees that he's not wearing the scarf and panics a little.
Brilliant storyline
A real classic
3:33 "Mr. Cotton's ... parrot. Same question."
Older Who was definitely more mature than todays who.
Superb story.
Brilliant.

Travis certainly was suspicious of the whole thing… 😂
And Lonely was far too enthusiastic about mining ....
Best Dr Who story ever❤
My favorite character is the dark skinned lady who is non judgemental. She always knows the truth...
Tom Baker was the best Dr. Who.
They should remaster the old seires
Wish they would bring those guys back if they havnt already
They haven't in live-action Who. Only a couple of Big Finish productions.
Those robots have some nice jackets
Who’s got the voc robot figures?

It's "wainscoting".
@@barryguff6893 Sorry. I'm remembering this from the early 1980's. "After you, mouse."

i forgot this story existed, great story tho
The robots in this look like school play costumes
The VOCs are some of the best Robots in the shows history
