    Absolutely fascinating. I would have tossed it! But you saved it! You taught this old dog a new trick. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

    I love that it's in English and French. I can read French reasonably well but I always have trouble understanding spoken French. This is very helpful, plus it will help my overwatered violet.

      Agreed! I was so pleasantly surprised to have both official languages... love that! Good reminder of my high school French and felt very Canadian. Smile. Merci beaucoup!

    Great video! It was just the information I needed to save a very special Violet. Originally it was a plant that I took to a dear friend dying of cancer. Upon arriving at her room, the nurse told me that she had just passed away. Therefore this little one has lots of memories attached to her - thanks for helping me to save Lil. xo

    This is the 1st time that utube has recommended ur video. Ur English is excellent. Thanks for making the effort. I learnt a lot from ur video. I love African Violets but my plants keep on suffering from root rot. I plan to restock soon but I need to learn how to keep this plant alive. I live in the mountains on the windward side - plenty rainfall

    I've been wondering how to save a couple of the babies that rotted like this. Thank you for your time and information. This is exactly what I needed. I root my plants and leaves in about 1/3 inch of water and I watch it every day to make sure that the water level stays up. I put the leaves and plants in small baby food jars until they root and start growing tiny leaves and plants at the base where the roots are. It works every time for me if the leaf is healthy. I'm so glad to have learned this technique. Thank you so much and happy growing!!🌸🌿😊

    THANKS for the video. You need to clean the knife in between cuts or you will spread the fungus infection causing the rot to the healthy parts of the plant.

      @@BloomloversAfricanViolets did the African violet with “rot” survive? Your video in English/French was so helpful for the situation I am in with a 2 year old African Violet I am trying to save.

    One thing that is very important is cleaning your knife with alcohol so you won’t spread the fungus that is rotting the stem

    It doesn’t appear the owner responds to comments. ☹️ Does anyone know what to do AFTER you save it? How long to leave in bag? Ok to just take out right away or slowly by opening bag first? Also, what happens if it tries to root ABOVE the soil?! 😬😬😬

    Thank you so much for your informative videos. As a new AV owner, I am learning a lot from you. The bottom leaves on one of my plants are droopy and turning brown. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Could you address this issue on a future video? Thanks again.

  • @araeshkigal
    @araeshkigal 4 года назад +1

    Well....at least this video let me know what killed my violet. Unless I can get it to revive from a single leaf, I fear the rot was too extensive. There wasn't any root left to work with.

    • @BloomloversAfricanViolets
      @BloomloversAfricanViolets  4 года назад +1

      that one in particular did not survive but some of them do. The technique I did here is the only thing that we can do to try to save a violet that is rotten as much. Some of them will make it and others are to far gone and will not survive. The next time I do another video on the subject, I will show the results.

    Dunno how but my plant somehow survived this without my help (neglect). Now it’s 60% stem with no leaves except on top and doesn’t grow. Man.
    Je ne sais pas comment mais ma plante a surviver ceci sans mon aide (la negligence). Maintenant c’est 60% tige et pas de feuilles sauf que sur l’haut du plante. Zut. (Je m’excuse pour mon français mauvaise, j’apprend la français :) )
