My go-to, honestly, is just leaving my skin alone for a couple of days; gentle cleansing with water and a boring moisturizer from CeraVe and starting over from square 1. Leave your skin alone; add products only one at a time; if something doesnt work just use it elsewhere on your body outside of face n chest
I have dry/menopausal/rosacea and eczema prone skin which can be hypersensitive. During a flare I use epaderm as a cleanser with laneige cream skin refiner on damp skin followed by a very simple moisturiser eg LRP toleraine or Sainsbury's source of nature night cream (the whole Sainsbury's source of nature line is excellent for very sensitive skin). Rosacea needs sunscreen and my favorite for not exacerbating sensitivity is Purito's comfy water mineral sunscreen (a K beauty star). Cereve nips during a flare as does hada labo. Another recommendation is the Iunik beta glucan serum - 100% beta glucan from mushrooms. The J Kossume line is excellent for sensitive skin and can be used during a flare with no issues (but it is a little pricier). The Simple hemp moisturiser is fine but the packaging is terrible for anyone with arthritis as it's difficult to dispense. Eucerin also make some wonderful moisturisers for hypersensitive skin - their urea line and the ato line are excellent. I also really like the Illyoon ato ceramide cream and you get a large size for an affordable cost. Hope that helps fellow sufferers of extremely sensitive skin though I always recommend patch testing any new product. Be well and best wishes.
I was going to write this comment myself. 3 quid !!! I go through tonnes. I'm just so disappointed their face emulsion has been discontinued from the range.
I use The Ordinary NMF+HA - love it - have found it brilliant on combination skin as it’s not oily and also not drying. Stings like cactus-buggery if you’ve overdone the retinol the night before though! If you’re especially dry, you can slap it on thick like a 1950s lady using cold-cream before bed and it makes such a difference by morning. A tiny, tiny bit on the hands is also good for taming flyaway hair (and as I’m sure all ladies reading this will know - moisturisered hands are also good for stopping synthetic tights etc etc from crackling with static). I also use a lot of niacinamide on the few true dry, sensitive (all the time) patches I have on each cheek (both from an accident 35 years ago when I was in junior school and fell face-first onto gravel - skin never grew back quite the same), likewise hyaluronic acid (I prefer the NIOD one even if it is a bit pricey). You can’t beat a weak glycerine solution as a moisturising facial mist particularly when you’ve been in the sun or in a dry office - does the same job as the expensive ones and very economical. Buy your glycerine from amazon or the pharmacy etc not the baking aisle as it’s miles cheaper! 1-2 tsp per 100mL water and keep it in the fridge in a spray bottle so it’s cold - add glycerine to water not the other way around as it will dissolve quicker. Adjust the amount of glycerine “to taste” - not moisturising enough or dries too fast, add more to the bottle; too sticky and leaves a residue, tip 1/4 of the bottle away and replace with water. Keep doing this until you get it right for your skin and your own taste.
Kate Somerville have confirmed that the Delikate serum is the same as the KX actives concentrate Ceramides and Omegas serum but rebranded for the Delikate range.
My first choice in skin crisis is Cicaplast (after Retinol OMG) BUT since I heard from you about La Roche Dermallergo serum I immediately ordered and love it! You know... I also love the packaging, colour of the bottle and this is just an added value for me 🥳
I have rosacea and have been using the Medik8 calmwise serum/ oil for about a year (I actually love oils on my rosacea at night). I love that serum, it really does calm my skin and my flare-ups are less intense because of it. Interesting you say, Nadine, not to use oils on rosacea, since most people with rosacea have drier skin so I would say an oil is beneficial x
I try quite a lot new products but my go-to night serum is Advanced Night Repair. I know it’s old school, maybe overpriced, maybe not so modern like new hyped products. I have sensitve and dry skin, I’m allergic to almost everything. Only ANR works it magic everytime, even when my skin is in really bad shape.
The Dr Jart+ cica range has almost eliminated my facial redness. I use several of the products with Hada Labo premium hyaluronic acid and Youth to the People adaptogen creme. I’m going to try the new La Roche-Posay serum. Thanks for the suggestions Nadine!
Thank you so much for covering all these fragrance-free products! My go-to skin soothers are squalane, coconut oil, and Drunkelephant's Protini! How can we beauty bloggers (I have an IG beauty blog) get together and convince companies to stop putting fragrance in their products? There are so many fragranced products I want to try but I never will because of that darn fragrance!
Hi Nadine! I love your advice and your preference for budget skin care! I suffer from rosacea but had never heard of the no-oil rule..do you have other do's and don'ts? What is the best way to repair the skin barrier function? Thank you!
Hi Nadine, I’ve been really struggling with this and as soon as i saw this I sent for the toleraine La Roche Posay serum. Just to report back, one day later and my skin is already improve a zillion percent! Instead of a rough sore patch on my chin I have a silky smooth layer, so thank you. I used it with Hado labo hyaloronic acid, fresh black tea toner and sarah chapman overnight facial over the top of everything . But I’m so pleased , amazing results for just 1 night . Thank you xx
I battle rosacea and have been tinkering with my skincare routine for many years to get it right. For me, I stay away from alcohol denat and fragrance esp linalool or limonene. I expensive formulas but I find that the simplicity of the drugstore big names really do work best eg Vanicream and LaRoche Posay are my favs. Niacinamide has also really helped, I use the 20% Paula’s Choice. Sunscreen was also tough to get right and my favs are EltaMD, anthelios, GloSkinBeauty, and the Arden Great8. Thanks for the new suggestions, Nadine! We can always count on you for fab Sunday recommendations✨
Thank you so much for creating content like this for us sensitive skin folks out there!! I have Rosacea myself and also struggle with flare-ups of Perioral Derm. when I’m going through stress and, to add to my already confused skin, I also regularly get hormonal acne on my chin but yet have dry skin unlike the skin type most acne-benefiting products are formulated for. Just purchased the DeliKate serum, as the LRP one didn’t seem to be available yet for the U.S., and I can’t wait to try it!
Eleanor Newman I have just bought a jar of Avene Revitalising nourishing cream which I usually love ....UNTIL... I got home and looked up whether they test on animals. Unfortunately, they sell to China, and China INSISTS that ALL beauty products are tested ON ANIMALS, so sadly, this is the last time I will be buying Avene. Now I also have to look for another sun cream that will not irritate my skin.
Thank you for this. I really rate all the Laroche Posay Toleraine range. The LP b5 Cicaplast Balm is really good when things get dire. Of late I have been using the Dr Dennis Gross Stress Repair face cream after my retinol and it has worked very well to combat irritation as I tru to bump up the tret. I also find that the L ascorbic c products in > 10% are just too much for me. I am using gentler forms of C. Actually, recently began using the Oskia Renaissance Brightening serum in AM and it has been a very nice alternative to straight C. Expensive in the US but is lasting a very long time. I think it will take at least 2-3 mos to finish so not bad if you think of it that way 🌺
As like everybody else, I'm washing my hands so often they started to look and feel like pine cones. Found a new product at the drugstore from Vaseline, Aging skin rescue. It has a nice consistency, soaks in fairly quickly but has a slight scent that fades fairly quickly. My hands are much better and can't beat the price.
When my skin was really dry and flaky from tretinoin, I followed a routine recommended by Gothamista as I already had some of the products; a Klairs serum, Hada Labo premium HA serum and the Klairs blue calming cream, it worked a treat!
Question for you - Are there any products that you’d specifically recommend trying for those that are hormonal acne-prone but yet have dry skin type? (Though I’m sure the ones mentioned here would happen to help with that as well)
Not sure if anyone has tried it, but my dermatologist recommended Vivite to use when using prescription retinols and other scrips. It was the most soothing thing to use on my skin. It's very common to be recommended after procedures.
I love the Eucerin products, 5% urea night cream for the face has got me through Tretinoin. I'm going to try NMF next though, so many good reviews. Thanks Nadine, you are fabulous 👌
Can you recommend a good lip balm for sun burnt lips or lips which have been sensitive to products please! And also good cleansers, daily moisturises & night creams for sensitive skin please!
My NMF soup must be plain consommé. It's certainly for want of something more filling. Marine omega-3 and a daily swig of flaxseed oil *does* make a difference, but I will definitly order (or pick up, since in Sweden we have in an act of subversiveness avoided lock-down) that LRP serum together with a backup of Cicaplast Baume B5! Also, sodium pca and sodium lactate really are unsung heroes in skin care. The former can attract up to 500 times it's weight in water. Not quite HA, but not too shabby. Thank you so much for yput in-depth content! Always exiting.
Another fab video thank you. Can you advise how I can get rid of white spots/patches on my arms and legs which I guess is due to sun damaged. I’ve tried Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion which didn’t do anything. X
Thank you, Nadine. Your videos are always educational, straightforward and you are never pompous or arrogant. CH can take some lessons from you. Just sayin 😉
Thank you Nadine! I’m in love with TO NMF, it’s my favourite. That said, I bought the Cerave moisturising cream for dry/v.dry skin in preparation for my Dermatica treatment and I love it too, excellent on my lips and the back of hands for recovering from all the washing and alcohol gel; but will repurchase TO NMF. I may have a bit of redness but nothing too concerning. I’ll try the LP serum you’re recommending as I love the brand and use their spf.
Brilliant Nadine. Thank you so much for your advice the other day. I used hydrocortisone cream on my red patch on my face and it’s already much better. You’re the best x
Hello Nadine, thanks for your advice, I can't wait to tray the La Roche Posay serum! When my skin needs some extracare I use the Kiehl's Centella Sensitive Cica Cream or the Cicaplast Baume B5.
Thank you for your video, super helpful, I have terrible rosacea, I am interested in buying the Delikate serum, I have a couple of questions: after I cleanse my face, what goes first, moisturizer or serum? and how many minutes after should the other be applied for better results? Also, would you recommend applying twice a day or is that a waste of product? Thank you so much! I look forward to your recommendations. :)
Nadine to your oil make up comment, I have very very dry skin and use oils to help it stay moisturised throughout the day. This means that my make up cakes flakes and looks bleurg as the day wears on. What can I wear as a moisturiser that is super moisturising and hydrating entire day that will still act as a good base for my make up? NMF nowhere near enough for my skin. Thanks!!!
I have oily sensetive skin but i find most of these products just to heavy on my skin. My pores block so quick. This lockdown has made my skin more combination than oily and more sensetized.
Nadine ,what ya think of Olay regenerest night cream un scented? It looks good & has niacinamide in it ,I’m using cereave pm atm with hyluronic First ☺️😘
Love your knowledge-based videos always, Nadine! This video is right up my alley. I've been battling perioral dermatitis on and off for almost 2 years now. A few months back, after watching your POD video, I got Noritate and Elidel, which work wonders, but as soon as I stop, the POD comes back. How long after it "heals" do you need to keep using the Noritate? I think the biggest problem with my skin is that even after it heals from active POD papules, the environment is too dry (here in Montreal) to allow my skin to grow back a proper skin barrier. I get contact dermatitis with La Roche Posay Toleriane and CeraVe so those are no-gos. I'm at my wit's end looking for a decent face wash and serum. Do you have any other suggestions? Tried the Kate Sommerville Kx Active Concentrates Ceramides + Omegas Serum but it wasn't strong enough. Paula's Choice Calm Serum did absolutely nothing either. On the other end of the spectrum, Ordinary's NMF is a bit too thick. I ordered SkinFix Barrier+ Serum from the Sephora sale a couple weeks ago, and am hoping that will help once it arrives. Wishing you good health!
When I had an allergic reaction that triggered my eczema recently I found I could only use cocoa butter and squalene because so much irritated me. Alone they just stopped it getting worse but together they actually made an improvement. They’re quite greasy together, it’s not nice, but if your skin is stinging it’s well worth it. I’ve heard aveeno is also good for irritated skin? Has anyone used it? Which line? Do you recommend?
Currently battling sensitised skin, no idea how I make it go away (it's been 8 weeks!!) currently the only thing I can put onto it is the The Ordinary's Marula oil or LRP Cicaplast baulm. Everything else- and I mean EVERYTHING bar water, stings like I've been through a wasp nest face first. I am so bored with the LRP at the moment but everything else I've tried has been so crazily painful....it's a nightmare and I don't know if it ever gets better! I've never had skin this bad! Stress related (neighbour from hell and can't get out to escape due to being "vulnerable!)
Iv currently bought the "Face Theory Pore Bright No 10 Serum" with 10% Niacinamide and azelaic acid in it. Have you ever tried any Face Theory products? and is Azelaic acid good for skin? I have no idea haha! P.S love your videos as always! ❤️
Can you recommend products for my son who is 23. He has some acne that is scarring his lovely face and back. I have ordered some products from the ordinary niacinamide plus zinc retinol in squalene and natural moisturising factors. I was going to order Paulas choice 2%bha too. Any suggestions would be so helpful. He's taking supplements too. Stay safe and beautiful x
Jennifer Holman try something with vitamin c as this will lighten the scars if they are red I believe. Nadine has recently done a video on vitamin c’s so I would start there :)
Hello Nadine!!! I really love your videos and every time I look forward for the next one 😁 I will definitely buy that la roche posay serum , honesty I was looking for a good serum that won't blow up my budget. That cream from the ordinary NMF is as good as the one from drunk elephant with peptides? I was thinking of giving drunk elephant a try . Now I am using from sisley the black rose cream but it's quite expensive . Do you think that cream worth it's money? I wish I had your knowledge about cosmetology, it really interests me. I am sorry if I tired you ...😘🥰🤗
Great video. Very informative and fact based. Have had great results on my eczema with some of your previous advice. Cerave lotion and Inkey List Glutamic Acid have done wonders. ☺️Would be interested to hear your opinions on beauty skin supplements - Paulas Choice Boost, Advanced Nutrition Program moisture lock etc. Can hyaluronic acid, ceramide, Vit A be as effective ingested as they are topically?
Get a blood test as soon as circumstances allow. I had low ferritin, vitamin D and B12. Shampoos didn't work for me not even Aveena 3 step system at £97. Got some Perfectil, just the cheap one, took about two Months but got a massive drop in hair loss. For some people the iron content is not enough in supplements, my doctor prescribed ferrous fumerate 210mg. Got a tangle teaser and some Kiehls leave in concentrate for tangles. Sorry this is so but hope it helps a bit.
The range is called Toleriane (great range, BTW), but it might be too soon for the serum to be found in the US. It's difficult to find it in Europe as well, I've just found a couple of online shops that carry it.
Is there anyone suffering with dry skin around their lips ? I thought it was caused by the cold weather but I still have problems and can't find a solution :( please, any ideas ?
Bianka a lot of lip Products can have ingredients that irritate or that you are allergic to. For example, my facialist is allergic to bees wax and it is in so many of those. There is something in most lip balms that makes my lips peel. I have not figured out what it is. The best thing for me has been to use Boiron Homeoplasmine. It is great for the lips and you can get it in Europe but not so easy in US. I picked up a tube in France last summer and I still have plenty left. In the past Nadine has recommended putting hyaluronic acid on your lips. I have done this and it is helpful so long as you have some moisture in the air, Otherwise you might need an occlusive on top
Superdrug’s sensitive skin serum is less than three quid and is amazing!!! Hyaluronic acid and ceramides. Fragrance free. The Simply Pure range.
The Spin Doctor Thank you🙋🏼♀️
Thank you! I love your channel for years!!
Kate Somerville have confirmed that the Delikate serum is the same as the KX actives concentrate Ceramides and Omegas serum but rebranded for the Delikate range.
thank you, I was wondering 😂😂👍🏻
They were smart to take the fragrance out!
My first choice in skin crisis is Cicaplast (after Retinol OMG) BUT since I heard from you about La Roche Dermallergo serum I immediately ordered and love it! You know... I also love the packaging, colour of the bottle and this is just an added value for me 🥳

I really love Advance Night Repair on my sensitive skin
I love the Iunik Beta Glucan/PCA serum for calming 😍
Loved this Nadine 💜
I've tried the dermallergo serum and I love it!! Beautiful texture and calming/hydratant properties
I try quite a lot new products but my go-to night serum is Advanced Night Repair. I know it’s old school, maybe overpriced, maybe not so modern like new hyped products. Definitely the Paula s choice Calm serum ♥️
Recommend Guinot hydra sensitive cream it works miracles
The Dr Jart+ cica range has almost eliminated my facial redness. I use several of the products with Hada Labo premium hyaluronic acid and Youth to the People adaptogen creme. I’m going to try the new La Roche-Posay serum. Thanks for the suggestions Nadine!
I love your knowledge-based videos. Very helpful. When my skin is sensitive, Paula's Choice moisturizers are helpful on my skin.

niod - modulating glucosides and paula's choice omega+ serum are also very good for redness and sensitive skin
I started using Osmosis skincare it’s medical grade - I saved to buy it and it’s being life changing in terms of my skin.
I love the Dermalogica ultra calming range when my skin is playing up Xx

The Avene sensitive skin range has always helped me out when me skin has been sensitised - it’s my old reliable and it works!
Yes, Avene for me also.

Cicaplast for sure and toleriane sensitive are my best of the best. Also linola fett cream works wonders but it is really thick and heavy

My favorite calming is Cosrx 96 snail mucin🥰
Kawaii Tropix I love it too! I use it over my hada labo hylaronic acid at night :)
Hey Nadine! Can you do a video on toners please? 💜
Thank you Nadine! I’m in love with TO NMF, it’s my favourite. Can we have a video for dry skin plz🍀🍀🍀🍀
Hello Nadine, thanks for your advice, I can't wait to tray the La Roche Posay serum!
When my skin needs some extracare I use the Kiehl's Centella Sensitive Cica Cream or the Cicaplast Baume B5.
Have been using Dermalogica products for years and have used the various ranges based on skin needs. Would love to know your thoughts on the brand.
Hiya loving the top if you wouldn't mind sharing where it is from xxx
Hi Nadine! My favorite is the KraveBeauty Great Barrier Relief Serum, it’s fantastic. Have you tried it?
Thank you for your video, super helpful, I have terrible rosacea, I am interested in buying the Delikate serum, I have a couple of questions: after I cleanse my face, what goes first, moisturizer or serum? and how many minutes after should the other be applied for better results? What do you think of the exuviance skincare range?
💖💖💖Dermalogica ultra calming barrier repair✨✨✨
When I had an allergic reaction that triggered my eczema recently I found I could only use cocoa butter and squalene because so much irritated me. Alone they just stopped it getting worse but together they actually made an improvement. They’re quite greasy together, it’s not nice, but if your skin is stinging it’s well worth it.
I’ve heard aveeno is also good for irritated skin? Has anyone used it? Which line? Do you recommend?
Where can you get the Delikate line in Europe? I wanted to try but they deliver only in the States
Can you get hydracortazone over the counter..?
Iv currently bought the "Face Theory Pore Bright No 10 Serum" with 10% Niacinamide and azelaic acid in it. Have you ever tried any Face Theory products? and is Azelaic acid good for skin? I have no idea haha! P.S love your videos as always! ❤️
I tried the Medik8 last year after being diagnosed with rosacea and this did nothing for my skin
maybe dont go to cosmetics for rosacea treatments
it has alcohol in! i cant believe its for sensitive skin soo silly! Try La Roche Posay and Avene brands hun x
Can you micro-needle this serum?
Can you recommend products for my son who is 23. He has some acne that is scarring his lovely face and back. I have ordered some products from the ordinary niacinamide plus zinc retinol in squalene and natural moisturising factors. I was going to order Paulas choice 2%bha too. Any suggestions would be so helpful. He's taking supplements too. Stay safe and beautiful x
Jennifer Holman try something with vitamin c as this will lighten the scars if they are red I believe. Nadine has recently done a video on vitamin c’s so I would start there :)
Try looking at Cosrx, it's a Korean company that is very good for troubled skin. Have a teenage son and it works well for him.
It's not too costly either. Hope this helps.
Is it good to use oil on a plane to stop water escaping from your skin? (not that i'm going on flights any time soon) xx
glycerine base face mist is the best :) I do my own by mixing glycerin with rose water. Cheap and the best.. :)
I am sorry if I tired you ...😘🥰🤗
You look beautiful .....
such a good products to choose from. Thanks for sharing. Can you recommend and explore the Quetion product for sensitive rosacea skin?
Great video. Very informative and fact based. Have had great results on my eczema with some of your previous advice. Cerave lotion and Inkey List Glutamic Acid have done wonders. ☺️Would be interested to hear your opinions on beauty skin supplements - Paulas Choice Boost, Advanced Nutrition Program moisture lock etc. Can hyaluronic acid, ceramide, Vit A be as effective ingested as they are topically?
And next - what to do if your hair is falling out in lockdown?!!!
Not dramatic but noticing a lot more coming out when I shower
If it helps, biotin and iron supplements helped me but they did take a good few weeks to about a month to kick in.
Try Vivascal.
Is this correct, "LA ROCHE PSAY TOLERAINE DERMALLERGO SERUM" because I can't find it in the U.S. Another name perhaps?
Is should say LA ROCHE POSAY TOLERAINE DERMALLERGO SERUM. The O was left out of the word Posay
Are you drinking enough water? If I'm dehydrated the first place to show it is my lips!!
Check to see if your tooth past contains sulphates ...they can cause problems for some peaple.
@@heatherdean7793 thank you :) I will look up that product.
Yes ,when I overdose on retinol
Apothaka Barrier Support Serum, is a lot better.
I ve just checked this serum, has really good ingredients , thanks
Literally sat with a pen and paper and wrote all those products down 😂 What are your thoughts on First Aid Beauty products for barrier function?
they are excellent. Even the primer i good.
Oonagh O'Neill I’m a fan but they’re not easy to get in the uk

I DON'T LIKE ANY OF THIS SERUMS- alkohol denat, propylene glycol, butylen glycol etc
