I wanted to make a little vloggy style video about what I've been up to! I didn't really plan any of this out 😄 Just shot it as I was going. But I didn't want to talk to camera, I wanted to tell everything visually. It's not perfect but I'm quite happy with it. All shot on S5iix and Sirui 50mm anamorphic. Lastly, I didn't know my dad well (or much at all really) but wanted to tell the story of the strange feeling of putting someone's entire life into storage. Anyway, enjoy.
Beautifully done, Alex. Very evocative of the fact that no matter how well or how little we know a parent, they always occupy a unique place in our lives that can never be filled by anyone else. Thank you for sharing this.
No Arri, no key - hair-foot lights, no gimbals and rigs, no fogs, no managers, no... Just a decent camera with a decent lens and a tripod. (and a decent looking actor😁). Thanks Alex and keep on.
This was a really atmospheric video. The echos left by your Dad are almost "sealed" by your work in clearing out his life's belongings. By filming it I feel sure that you will always be able to get back some of these "echos" just by watching the video all over again. Lovely work. You're Dad wasn't the only artist in the family.
That was excellent Alex. I remember when my Dad passed away how difficult and emotional it was to empty the house and sort everything out. You captured it well. Very moving to anyone who has experienced the loss of their parents and had to do the same.
Nice work Alex. Doing a cinematic video like this is very difficult and the amount of time and effort which has to go into each shot. Well done. Would be nice to see more of this style every now and again.
So much reminded of my Dad who was an artist. So many paintings left. Beautifully shot, man, that lense and the light, the colors… fantastic job. Very moody, unbelievable location. Love your tutorials and learned a ton but I appreciate your work as an artist. Respects.
Dude, this was great. It appears that he had a vast appreciation for creativity and art and surrounded himself with it, which is amazing. Grief is tangible, raw, and humbling...you told a great story here. This was well done and my condolences.
A big plus is that it was a pleasure to notice that nowadays someone shoots or edits a video so that the camera doesn't shake like adhc patients try to make it a trend. Although few people really like it, you have to keep up with the trend.
In Germany we have the word "Bildgewaltig", "The power of pictures" so to say. I was looking on your chanel for a tutorial, then looking around and stopping for Anamorphic Sirui. But what I saw was so much more than I was expecting. And thanks God no typical blue flares and other humbig. Just pure craftmanship with a clear mind, showing the beauty that will come to people who can see, and finally your last goodbye to your father. And a very gentle music to lift it a little... well done!
While I don't know the specifics of what you're going through, these scenes (and soundtrack) definitely transmits the emotions you're feeling now... Hard to watch this and not ponder on the brevity of life, its meaning, and what do we take away or leave behind when we're gone. Hope you're ok man.
I’m sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing. I hope the diversion of filming your experience helped to alleviate some of the pain. To me, it shows a determination to continue being creative, no matter what. All the best to you, Mr. Alex Tech!
Thought & emotion provoke at one of the most difficult times in anyone's life... beautifully captured... You did him proud!! Be well and thank you for all you do for us on your channel!!
Goodness me . . . . sorry . . . just .. erm. This short video evoked so many emotions and memories. Your family should be very proud of your creative excellence and technical expertise. I don't know anything about your relationship with your dad, but I hope he understood what you have been able to achieve as an artist, a teacher and inspiration for thousands. Thank you for spending your valuable time shooting and editing this story - I hope it helped you. Thanks also for helping me learn - you are a good man Mr. Alex!
I've now watched enough of your tip n trick videos to be able to faintly hear you narrating just what you're gona do with each clip. Really do enjoy the character you bring to video and it's fascinating to see it translate to this format. Thanks
I'm sorry your lost a parent. It sucks on so many levels. I just lost a brother and my mom. This was a beautiful tribute to them. Bravo Alex! You should do more narrative work. I never expected this on your channel.
Alex, wow!! Was so good, when I finished watching I didn’t want to say anything… just sat there and thought about what I just saw. It really gives you quiet peace and heavy thoughts about the reality of life. Hits home.
No one needs to qualify to experience the phenomenon of grief. With all its facets, it is less, a state of mind, and more of a journey. A release of tangible expectations of something, to make room in our hearts, for something we might miss in our lives. Art is a beautiful and poignant expression, of the path for grief to find it’s leave, eventually, and beautifully, making room for the part of someone, to be recognized, and come to life in you… Close or not, you are, your fathers son. You may not have been close then, but I believe you are so close now, that we are meeting him, through you. Beautifully done Mr. Alex Tech Senior, and Jr. 🫂❤ Thank you for sharing 🙏
Fantastic short-Clip, Alex. Chapeau ! Even without words, it is shown so sensitively what it is all about and perspectives, light and music are very well tuned. Anyone who has ever been in this situation will remember and feel again. Thanks
I didn't really know my dad either. I hadn't seen him since I was 12, and I think those 4 days were the most time I ever spent with him that I can remember. Even at those times he was angry and hard to deal with. It's sad, but sometimes not always an awful thing to not be around some family.
A work of visual poetry and proof positive that digital technologies don't necessitate cold and clinical images or storytelling. Like others in this thread I have had a similar experience and the juxtaposition of the mundane and the elegiac really rings true.
Excellent and nice use of sombre colours/tones. I also enjoyed the gravitas created by the anamorphic and low-level viewpoints. An excellent tribute 👏👏👏
First of all - sorry for your loss, even if we don´t know them that well, it leaves a gap somewhere inside... Second of all, next time we meet, you´re not allowed to say, that you are "only" a RUclipsr anymore 😝! You improved your filmmaking so so much! Love a lot of the compositions and the mood you set as well. Definitely touched my heart, as this reminded me of the time my Grandpa passed!
Beautifully conceived and executed, visually rich and very emotive. I used to love my SIRUI S35mm till an accident shattered it literally. You captured your loss very poignantly.
Wow.. That hauled me up and created a lump in the throat... No matter what sort of relationship one has, such times are always thought provoking and challenging. Glad you had your camera to distract you and that you shared in a way that suited you to do so... Thoughts with you and your Dad's chums that will miss him... ❤
I love the look of this lens. I've watched this video so many times that it made me order a sirui 35mm which arrived today. Cant wait to open it and start experimenting. Thank you for making this!
Thanks for sharing this video. It kept my attention, told a story and made me a bit sad but I really enjoyed it. Thanks also for the instructional videos but would also enjoy seeing more of your creative videos.
Nicely done, Alex. My own Dad was an artist and while it has been 31 years since he died your video resonates with so many days I've had since then as I move through what has been left behind. But, something else about your video that I should mention. I came to your Davinci Resolve instructional videos to help me learn how to work with DR--this video shows me what I can do with it. Thank you. Thank you on both counts.
Beautiful mrAlex! It really touched me. And reminded me of similar memories of my parents. Good luck with this difficult process! And please forget your promise to post every Friday a video. Take it easy man! Good luck from Holland.
This was awesomely well done. If that's your Stinger GT then well done for your great taste in cars! You really managed to share the strange feeling of packing up your dad's 'life' into bubblewrap and storage.
Thats so dope. Love the low angle camera shots. Never thought about that. Its more about what you dont see then what you see. Was a pleasure whatching this :D
Hey dear Alex, thanks for sharing this personal und privat moments. I feel so much in this shortfilm and like the direct way you filmed it. I wish you a good progress on the physical and emotional path. Hugs! Martin
Wow, that was amazing Alex! I can see all the things you talk about in editing in there, audio bridges, transitions, color, etc, absolutely beautiful locations and love the fact that the imagery told the story rather than dialogue, good call. Thanks for sharing, very well done, impressive. Did you do some of those shots yourself, I often will set the tripod up and mark me in and out points and just walk through the frame if I don't have someone to help, either way, it was brilliant cinematography, editing, lighting, storytelling.
Lovely! Show how important it is to Keep It Simple Stupid. Nothing intrudes on the story, every bit of video and audio enhances the experience. Or as I said, lovely!
wow! I had to remind myself that it was mostly shot on a tripod !!! amazing job. Alex, you are awesome in so may ways, so you better start believing it. one more thing!!! stop being so modest .✌ Tino

You'd make a crap Art Thief, filming yourself.
Hope you're Ok buddy.
😪
That was really good, the music really fit the video.
Beautifully done, Alex. Very evocative of the fact that no matter how well or how little we know a parent, they always occupy a unique place in our lives that can never be filled by anyone else. Thank you for sharing this.
I'm sorry for your loss man. Even though you didn't know your dad too well, he was still you dad. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Very well created, very touching
This was a pleasure to watch. I hope you do more of these style videos mate.
No Arri, no key - hair-foot lights, no gimbals and rigs, no fogs, no managers, no... Just a decent camera with a decent lens and a tripod. (and a decent looking actor😁). Thanks Alex and keep on.
Haha thank you! I wouldn't say no to the Arri if anyone is offering 😄

Beautifully poignant film. No explanation needed. And such haunting music.
Absolutly brilliant. Telling the whole story without any word.

Wow this was beautiful on so many levels! The emotion conveyed through the sounds design, filming, lighting, editing, all of it! Brilliant!
I don't mind admitting I shed a tear or two watching this.
I did too, and BEFORE I read the backstory. It’s really beautiful.
I thought it was excellent. It inspires me to step out and give this process a chance. Thank You for sharing.

I know you made this for yourself, not for the internet, or anybody else, so I'm grateful for your share . The end made me want to cray .
Captivating, told a great story and conveyed real sense of emptiness when one passes on leaving just remnants of a life one once lived.

Stunning Alex the colors are beautifull...
Great job Alex!!! Loved everything about it. Really enjoy your tutorials, but look forward to hopefully seeing more production. 👍👍
Can I say that this is stunning, from the color to the music. It's exceptional! Amazing job.
Touches one's experienced heart strings. How beautiful ✨
For someone who knows so many "tricks" your video is so serene and real. Great job sir

Thanks, Alex! Someday, after us, all our favorite things will be taken out in the same way.
Great videography and soundtrack, loved every second of it. Please do more when the urge strikes. All the best.
More of these Mr Alex, more cinematic vlog, is the best way to learn, teach and most important: inspire us
While I cannot say I fully understand, what I'm certain is I loved every moment of this. A helluva job, Alex; well done! Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful. Poignant, visually stunning, music a definitely good addition. Lovely in every way.
Stellar accomplishment Alex. Absolutely inspirational. Bravo.

Such is life as we meander towards becoming star dust once again. Thanks for sharing...very moving.
More poignant than I ever expected a MrAlexTech video to be. Caught me off guard and was very moving.
Who is cutting onions?
The challenge is on. We've all got to have a go at doing similar!

Hauntingly beautiful. Having had to pack up my own fathers life into boxes, this really evoked so many emotions. The soundtrack was spot on 👌🏻
Will always be proud of everything you do. Such a special short film MrTech xx❤
Beautiful mrAlex! It really touched me. And reminded me of similar memories of my parents. Good luck with this difficult process! And please forget your promise to post every Friday a video. Take it easy man! Good luck from Holland.
I know that feeling. Well done
Your shots and choice of music were spot on great video.
I wish I could accomplice this! Love it the atmosphere, sound, coloring , the whole package
This was awesomely well done. If that's your Stinger GT then well done for your great taste in cars! You really managed to share the strange feeling of packing up your dad's 'life' into bubblewrap and storage.
Nice work. The music really felt right for the visuals and story.
Great stuff, man! Love the visuals!
Beautifully shot there Alex!
This is stunning: I’ve watched it several times.
Back again watching this gorgeous film. 9 months later. ❤

Great, mate! Keep up the good work. The more you do it the better you'll get at it... 😊

Very enjoyable thank you for sharing, fantastic camera shots.

Very moving piece. I’m not sure “enjoyable” is the correct adjective. Heartrending works. 🙏
Love it Alex! Captivated the mood just right, I thought. Looking forward to seeing more projects!
Very very nice!!! Congrats!!!!
Wow man. Great job.
Nicely done mate
I like the storytelling, the aspect ratio and especially the colors - well done! Can you show how to grade in that style? Did you use V-Log?
I did indeed use V-Log! I'll do a breakdown video :)
