Been watching your short tutorials for weeks now and I feel ready'ish to start a painting. The first one was very dull and muddy. Now I think I can make a vibrantly life like painting. Thank You for showing all of us your technical tricks and knowledge base.
Warmer and varied. ...good point...I'd like to see what he could do with no black on his palette...also...kevin your final highlights are too sharp...the (accent) highlights as you refer to ...your strokes are just outlining the objects... Like the rocks...looking at the final accents..it appears as though it's a line of color going around ends only of shape. ..another like tree trunks I've seen a blue outline ...a sharp line accent...oposed to reflected light on the shape/object At 11:20....the lighting in studio is too dark.
Kevin, you are definitely the rock master.. awesome job. What a real work of art.. I've got to order your tutorial videos on rocks water ,trees and mountains.. You have an amazingly fast touch for details. It takes me forever it seems like, and they still dont look like yours.. lol lol. I'm practicing though! Getting better each time I sit at the easel.. 😎🌻✌

Glad your finally aware...it's a big help from The regular towels..with the lint from other paper towels ...time consuming and bothersome ...some use a cotton rag.. Hope all is well...nice work... Please put some DVD lessons out ..know your busy when you can...seascape...like the latest one.. I've learned so much . Started out with all your technique series ..to beginner..now finished all your others...also..please The winter mountain one is beautiful..for full lesson...and The other winter mountain with cabin... Wish you'd do a DVD of last yrs xmas painting...as well.
I wish I could use oil. Acrylic is okay, but you really have to work at it to make it look even remotely like oil. Unfortunately I live in an environment where oil would be a hazard :( It's so easy to make everything soft with oil in comparison.

Store bought canvas. ...already gessoed. The sky he used the solvent free medium. ..found on his website. ..he mixes it with titanium white. The rest of canvas is dry...no medium used. The Frederick (medium tooth) canvas is good. If only practice. ..just get a store bought medium texture canvas is fine.
